It has a story, not as complex as other games but it still has one.

I like to think the Halo games focus more on being fun than being all story driven.(Just my thought) Its one of the reason I love them so much.

Well I liked it, theres a reason you don't jump into a series at the very end...
The end?

It's a game that takes place before any other game in the series.
Yes but its Bungies last game that was aimed at a pre-existing fan base...hence why its assumed you know what the covenant is, or why reach is important

Dr. Halsey is the person behind the Spartan program.
Jorge is beefier than the rest because he's a Spartan II while the rest are IIIs. IIs were better, whereas IIIs were the mass production Captain America.

Halo: Reach isn't a game that explains things like "Who the covenant are" and "Why they don't like us humans".

Halo: Reach is a game that sets up the events of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. You know, a prequel.

The games themselves do not answer many questions. They aren't meant to. That's why Halo has so much supplementary material. You want story, go read the books. The games are about being a soldier in the halo universe. You should already know mostly everything else.

I liked the STORY. I thought the STORY was very good. I really like when the STORY took you to neat locations. Get it? Because it has a STORY. It's a very simple story since all you do is kill shit, but if she isn't smart enough to notice that people call you SPARTAN and the flying things shooting at you BANSHEES she made need help. Also it explains how cortana came to be, how reach was taken over, and how you shouldn't point out stupid little details your girlfriend didn't understand.

All the questions you list as having are things that anyone who knows anything beyond what the games have should know. It's fairly common knowledge.

Huh. Now that you mention it, if I wasn't so well versed in Halo, that game would have lost a lot of it's punch.

Like, the whole point of New Alexandria was to try to tell the player that IF YOU FAIL HERE, THIS WILL BE EARTH. But if I didn't know about all the Halo back story, it would have been just another destroyed city.

That being said, Bungie did say that this was a game for Halo fans. But that is sort of a cop-out: Fall of Reach was basically required reading for that game, and that's not a good thing. I should not need to read a book to understand a Prequel. The fact the Fall of Reach was really good does not excuse them.

I, for one, would not have minded if the game was a little longer, if it would have sat down and explained some things to new players. I bet Dr.Hasley came right out of left field for people who have't read the books, considering the fact that she hasn't been mentioned in any other Halo game.

Less that it has no story, more that is has poorly written and presented story.

I hate it, but it doesn't completely lack story. Very few games do.

I understood the story, but it wasn't anything to marvel at; and either way, the game wasted its premise completely and utterly, so it's a moot point.

A story is a narration on events that take place surrounding a person(s), place or thing.
Halo Reach is a narration on the struggle of a group of Spartans trying to save their planet from an alien invasion.

While there are things that aren't explained well, or explained at all, to say it has no story is just a stupid over-statement.
Reach is a prequel, not the first part of a series, so it's expected that you know the basics, like what a Spartan is and who the Covenant are.
A lot of Reach's backstory isn't actually in the game itself.
For instance; Dr.Halsey is the scientist who created the Spartans. Jorge is the only member of Noble team of the same stature as the chief because they're both Spartan IIs while the rest of the team are Sparten IIIs (slightly less durable but cheaper to produce).

Reach could have done with some more exposition, but it does have a story.

I was gonna write KIA next on the poster that lists all the main characters, but I doubt many would know it means Killed In Action.
Technically spartans can't die, they just go MIA

Spoilered in case someone doesn't know how it ends.

Halo Reach has no story, yadda yadda
Story definition: "An account or recital of an event or a series of events, either true or fictitious,"

So, therefore, Halo Reach does have a story. Done. You're wrong. For all your arguments, they are entirely flawed, kaput, unworkable. They don't make any sense.

Insider knowledge is often assumed in prequels or sequels. Doesn't mean there is no story.

The plot is admittedly very lack lustre. Their isn't much too it, I admit. However, their IS a story. No matter how badly told or low content it may be, it does have a story.

I never pay attention to Halo's story. I tried to read the wiki, and was like, "I have to read books to get the real story on this game? No."

I like Halo Reach, it's a very pretty game and a fun shooter. But I in no way shape or form bought it for the story. That's what games like Beyond Good & Evil or even Bioshock are for.
