Didn't Bungie say that they weren't doing any more Halos after Halo 3. Oh besides Halo:Wars cause that had been announced before that. And ODST doesn't count cause it's not the same. What's there excuse for this one. That it's a prequel. Lets be honest Bungie are never going to do anything else besides Halo ever again. Ever.

They said they were done with making games relating to the Halo CE-Halo 3 story arc meaning that they are not going to make a Halo 4. However they never said they were done with Halo completely. They're just not going to make any more Halo games with the same gameplay as Halo 3. Halo Wars was made by Ensemble Studios(Guys who made Age of Empires) not by Bungie. Halo 3:ODST was supposed to be an expansion but Microsoft has decided that its worth $60 so I think Bungie feels obligated to treat it as a full game so they don't disappoint their fans

Leave it at that, done and dusted, move onto something else, more exctiting and brilliant...

The majority of companies milk franchies and are afraid to try something new. Some of the best games out there are made by companies who try something new, and bring something original to a table full of the same milked out shit year on year. such as mirrors edge, ico, shadow of the collosus. Then what happends well...

lets take Guitar hero as my example; when it first came out, it was unique, brilliant and entertaining, and now, a few years later we have:

Most games follow the tradition of making a game, a sequal or two which changes nothing, and then add just a few new things every instalment. like... lets see... Guitar Hero.

Am i the only person who wants to see new types of games every year? New things that have not been tried?

OK, to be fair, Guitar Hero did try something new, ie. adding the drums and microphone.

And it will try keyboard Hero and DJ Hero.
But please, please developers, move on to something new.

Oh, i completely agree with you, i would love some new stuff to come out. But you can't shout at them too much for wanting to make money. Maybe their just building up loads if money so they can try something completely new and radical without too much financial risk involved.

Anyway, i can't what's wrong with more Halo games. They've got a decent universe built up that can be easily expanded on. There's a lot of things they can do with it.

Maybe you have a point, companies are worried about releasing something new, which may not be well recieved, whereas releasing the same stuff is almost a guarantee to earning quick and easy income.

No actually. "Halo 3 is the last game in the trilogy," is closer to what they said. Rather obvious as it is the 3rd game.

Halo Wars wasn't made by Bungie so no possible conflict there (not that there is the potential for conflict after my paraphrase above).

ODST is supposedly the last Halo game by the team making it, but we all know how successfully Hideo Kojima stopped working on Metal Gear games.

Speculation time: I believe Reach will be some kind of action-defense game.

I presume you've never seen any of the Bungie press releases or official statements about Halo, or any of the forwards in the novels or the graphic novel, or anything else along those lines, have you? The whole point of Halo's add ons and expansions and new releases now is for the fans. That's right, the fans. I'll bet if Half Life was suddenly to have Episode 3 revealed by Valve everyone here would be straight away going on about how reat it is that such a new release has been developed. Believe it or not, Half Life has a much greater number of games and expansion games than Halo. So hah.

As I said, Halo is being developed for the fans now. And as a Halo fan I'm personally very much psyched to see Halo: Reach, and felt the same about Halo Wars and Halo: ODST. I'm looking forward to this greatly. But Halo has now reached the stage where there is a large fanbase that are devoted to seeing the ever expanding storyline, character development and generally the expansion of the series itself. We who played the games and liked them, and are fans of the series, are the people who will spend good money on these new games. We're the people who spend money on the graphic novel, the books, and all the other merchandise that gets released. And we do that because we like Halo. Got that?

If you don't like Halo then that's fine (as long as you've played the games, if not then I'll just ignore your rants as being part of the Hate Wagon idiots crowd). I'm all for people having an opinion provided they know something about what they have an opinion on. But Halo is now a fan based series, and that won't change. If you're so opposed to the idea of a new release, and this goes for all the people here bashing Halo, then simply don't play it and don't buy it. Ranting will get you nowhere, so just ignore it and everyone will be happy. Okay?

i understand why there's so much hate for halo, and i understand and know that i SHOULD hate it, but i still get excited when i hear that a new ones coming out
dont ask me why, i still think halo is good fun. yes its not groundbreaking, experementative or even good by many mesures. And dont get me wrong, i dont think halo is fantasticly amasngly awesome
BUT i still think halo has a good story, likeable characters and easy to pick up and play. maybe thats because i was there from the first game... You can say all you like, but i wont budge from that and i will buy the new one as long as its an fps and not a shoddy command and conquer ripp off

If Bungie can pull it off, this Reach game could be the best Halo game yet. I read most of the books, and The Fall of Reach was the best Halo media I've ever seen, better than any of the games by far. If these guys can make an accurate game portrayal of the book, it will be excellent.

And yes, this thread will definitely fall beneath a sea of both Halo haters and fanboys alike. Rather than try to take sides at all, I'll just back away slowly. No sudden movements; they might see us!

Yeah, it still sells a fuckton of copies and makes millions. That means it's quite obvious that LOTS OF PEOPLE DO LIKE IT. Reach will sell 11fuckillion and 7 copies and you know it.
