RAWR HALO SUX!

I fail to see why hating Halo is so popular.

Ahem. I wait for both ODST and Reach to be released, so that I may purchase them with cash-monies.

I don't think you understand how the video game industry works. If it still sells, they will keep making them.

Forever.

Well the millions of people still playing Halo 3 almost two years after its release seem to indicate to Bungie that a new title is worthwhile. I'm bored with Starcraft but there's plenty of other people who will be buying Starcraft 2.

its time for bunjee to stop the halo series. Halo wars was an epic fail, and Halo reach will be a let down just like halo 3.
It's already been said in this thread but since people keep on making this mistake and not reading the other posts in the thread before spewing their misguided bile: Halo Wars was not made by Bungie.

As much as I absolutely HATE Halo, Fall of Reach was an alright book. I MIGHT BUY THIS but I'm not getting it if all the reviews just go "If you wanted something new you can go die"

Still your opinion, one that many others do not share with you. And still not related to Bungie or Halo: Reach.

Fall of Reach was a pretty good book. Probably the best of the (fairly average) book series. That and Cole Protocol, anyway.

So yeah, looking forward to it. Hopefully we'll get to play as a young Master Chief in training. That could be neat.

Well, when I said Microsoft were never going to let Halo go after Halo 3 and that they were going to milk the franchise for all it was worth, it looks like I was right.

The Halo cash- cow has dolled out its milk.. here come the Halo fans to lap it up.

Here's a slip that may indicate the Reach Beta being this coming March:

Listen close at 4:33

EDIT: According to the Bungie Weekly Update Joe Staten was going to say "Marketplace" but corrected himself just in time to promote excited speculation.

Hopefully you get to play as other spartans, and hopefully you can choose which one you want to play as or even with (if it is squad based). I hope it's something different from Halo 3, same gameplay mechanics but just different gameplay like ODST. I wonder what the multiplayer will be like...
read the book. its very good. and yes in reach its about john as a younger spartan. and there are other spartans and other squads etc etc. but yes the suspense is killer isnt it?
I read all of the Halo books. :p Too bad most other people that believe the Halo series is overrated never enjoyed reading them. :/
I love the books... I'm in the middle of finally reading the Cole Protocol right now.

My fingers are crossed for at least a cameo of Dr. Halsey in Reach.

Why not just have Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3?

Leave it at that, done and dusted, move onto something else, more exctiting and brilliant...

Or, if your a money grabbing corporation, choose this second option, "Milk it."
I presume you've never seen any of the Bungie press releases or official statements about Halo, or any of the forwards in the novels or the graphic novel, or anything else along those lines, have you? The whole point of Halo's add ons and expansions and new releases now is for the fans. That's right, the fans. I'll bet if Half Life was suddenly to have Episode 3 revealed by Valve everyone here would be straight away going on about how reat it is that such a new release has been developed. Believe it or not, Half Life has a much greater number of games and expansion games than Halo. So hah.

As I said, Halo is being developed for the fans now. And as a Halo fan I'm personally very much psyched to see Halo: Reach, and felt the same about Halo Wars and Halo: ODST. I'm looking forward to this greatly. But Halo has now reached the stage where there is a large fanbase that are devoted to seeing the ever expanding storyline, character development and generally the expansion of the series itself. We who played the games and liked them, and are fans of the series, are the people who will spend good money on these new games. We're the people who spend money on the graphic novel, the books, and all the other merchandise that gets released. And we do that because we like Halo. Got that?

If you don't like Halo then that's fine (as long as you've played the games, if not then I'll just ignore your rants as being part of the Hate Wagon idiots crowd). I'm all for people having an opinion provided they know something about what they have an opinion on. But Halo is now a fan based series, and that won't change. If you're so opposed to the idea of a new release, and this goes for all the people here bashing Halo, then simply don't play it and don't buy it. Ranting will get you nowhere, so just ignore it and everyone will be happy. Okay?
God DAMN, it's all been said but never been said better.

*applauds*

ok. Halo wars was a blatent "milk"

Ive read most of the novels & they were brilliant, Ive got my hopes up for reach. I wouldnt mind some battlecrusier action...but for it too remain loyal i doubt they could make it even between covey & UNSC forces.

At least theres no brutes. Win.

Now, I want something AFTER halo 3, What the hell was that planet?

Didn't Bungie say that they weren't doing any more Halos after Halo 3. Oh besides Halo:Wars cause that had been announced before that. And ODST doesn't count cause it's not the same. What's there excuse for this one. That it's a prequel. Lets be honest Bungie are never going to do anything else besides Halo ever again. Ever.
unfortunatly true... I'm sorry to prevoke the trolls but Halo wars had nothing special about it other than its halo namesake, and thats speaking as someone who really wanted to hate Halo...and then played Halo 3. If you complete Halo 3 on legendary you KNOW there's going to be another Halo game.

And that really is the only Halo-thing about Wars. In reality, it can't be canon.

Because they encounter the Flood, which even the Covenant knew nothing about until Halo:CE. And you can't retcon shit like that.

Honestly, while ODSt is a huge draw for me, Reach isn't so much. Halo has always been as much about the story for me as it has been about the gameplay. Since, after reading the novels, I know pretty much everything that can happen and go on in Reach, half the equation is already lost for me.

Actually, Halo Wars is canon. Bungie even said so. Spirit of Fire does not make back to the UNSC in time to warn them of the Flood and the Prophets before the Chief and Cortana tell them, and the Covenant knew of the Flood's existance well before Halo:CE, as evidenced by the graphic novels, and the fact that Covenant all know of what "The Parasite", and what to do about it when first encountered on the Ring.

Cole Protocol is easily my favorite of the books as far as the writing goes. Much easier to just pick up and read. Also, it has to be fairly original and can't just quote verbatim the game dialogue (which, along with an overuse of the word obscene, is exactly what The Flood did.)

Besides, the new characters are pretty likable.

The Covenant had known of the Flood for a very long time, and ONI had learned of the Flood from some source prior to Halo.

Halo Wars' "Halo Timeline" lists ONI declaring Spirit of Fire lost with all hands, obviously a cover-up. In Last Voyage of the Infinite Succor dialog between Covenant characters establishes that the existence of the Flood was common knowledge among the Covenant.

Really the only retcon Halo Wars did was having Elites and Hunters as known Covenant soldiers prior to their discover given in Fall of Reach.
