Achievements: some use them to brag while others unlock them during the course of play, but are some achievements just too hard? sure beating the first level of halo 3 on medium or completing "welcome to rapture" are easy but (trying really hard to not to try to sound redundant) are some achievements just mind numbingly impossible. For instance ,completing "Little Rocket Man" in Half life 2 Episode 2 requires you to take the gnome in the beginning of the game and putting it in the rocket at the (and yes closing the door) end of the game or "Start a Real Band Already Award" Achievement from Guitar Hero II for getting 5 stars on every song in Expert difficulty are some of the hardest and buggiest achievements ever... So, list the achievement(s) that you think are the hardest and why.

The achievment in FEAR that requires you to shoot less than 80 bullets or something. Actually, just most the achievments in FEAR.

Any of the "Gold" medal achievements on Chromehounds. Always won by the same two or three squads, always by boosting. You won't get them.

Also, in history, the Adventure Gold and Eight Port Master achievement on Outpost Kaloki X were actually impossible when released, though a subsequent patch changed the time requirements to make them merely bloody hard.

Yeah, the Ochre Crate has some of the most frustrating achievements around. When I had gone through the Antlion Nest in EP:2 trying to get the 'Get Some Grub' achievement and found out I had missed nine I nearly killed someone. The very idea of attempting 'One Free Bullet' or 'Little Rocket Man' sends me rocking back and forth in the corner.

I proudly say this to you all. I've completed the free bullet achievement in EP:1. It was the most difficult achievement I've ever seen or done.

the big pisser is that you can't even decide when to use the bullet, you have to use one shotgun shell to break a lock on the other side of a door in the very beginning

HL2 Ep2, the "Get some grub" achievement. Impossiblely hard unless your miraculously immune to Antlion Guard attacks.

I found the "Get some grub" achievement rather easy, i just made sure i payed attention to every nook and cranny (im like that anyway in games)

Quite a few of the dead rising acheivments are an imbuggerance.

I dunno... I don't think most achievements are very difficult if you're patient. Most of them just require a lot of tedious effort, or a specific sort of playthrough. I feel kinda sorry for people who can't get the "Asari Ally" achievement in Mass Effect. Some people still think it's bugged, but you can actually get it before reaching Virmire if you know what you're doing (if this is giving you trouble, PM me and I'll explain how to do it... I've never actually seen a walkthrough that explains how to get it as early as I did).

Nearly all of the Halo 3 achievements are reasonably easy, but some of the multiplayer ones are really awful (usually the ones that unlock Elite armor, because Bungie hates Elites I guess).

Condemned has an achievement for beating the game without using firearms (melee combat may be a core mechanic of the game, but that doesn't make it any less brutal against some of the tougher foes). I haven't gotten it yet, but it sounds like a good way to get ready for Condemned 2, which I don't own yet.

I think the worst one I can think of was "Hella Copter" in Dead Rising. To get it, you basically have to get shot up by rockets and machine guns while aiming, WITH THE THUMBSTICK AND NO AIM ASSIST, at the tail of a moving helicopter... and repeat this until you do enough damage. That game also featured the "Saint" achievement, which some people just can't put up with the survivor AI (or lack thereof) long enough to unlock.

Not neccesarily hard... terribly easy, in fact... but my stubborn determination to get to the next fucking checkpoint in a CoD3 level got me the "Purple Heart" achievement... probably the only achievement which has ever made me laugh out loud. You basically have to get yourself killed OVER AND OVER AND OVER, I'm guessing a few dozen times, trying to accomplish the same thing. I must have died 20 or 30 times between one checkpoint and the next before I got it (it's a secret achievment, so I was totally surprised).

Not the hardest ever but some of the portal challenge courses are really tough and getting gold on some of the challenges is brutal

I generally only get the achievements that fall into my lap, so I don't know, but some of Portal's were really cool.

Seven Day survivor in Dead Rising. Trapped in the mall, everyone is against you, your health goes down a point every 120 seconds, and healing items don't respawn. Oh yeah and you can't save either.

Then Capcom had the balls to add in ones like Zombie Genocider and Savior, Jesus... were they trying to make it impossible to get all 1,000 gamer points for the game?
