"If They Came To Hear Me Beg" from Halo: Reach.

You have to do a running jump off a hundred-foot cliff and break your fall by assassinating an enemy. Aside from your inability to maneuver in mid-air, you can't be seen during the drop, the enemy has to be facing in precisely the right direction, you have to hit at just the right time and angle, the enemies are constantly moving about, and it sometimes doesn't give you the achievement anyways even when you pull it off correctly. It mostly just boils down to luck. So frustrating, but so satisfying to get after a few screen dents.

All of the online achievements for the Duke Nukem 3D XBLA release are impossible to get.

Because absolutely nobody plays that game online.

I still haven't gotten a major portion of the trophies for Demons' or Dark souls, despite being on an NG+ of some level for both of them. Find all the rare weapons, all the rings, acquire all sorceries, miracles, pyromanices, max out every enchantment type...ughhhhhhh. I imagine that it requires multiple character slots each on an NG+ of some level to get the platinum, each spec'd for the particular goal in mind. If I platinum either one I'd like it on my tombstone, or put the ashes in a trophy made of platinum. My grandchildren will know I had too much free time and patience : )

I reached 60,000 kills for seriously 2.0 and some glitchy madness happened going offline then on again and lost the in-game counter towards it, and that was my snapping point for all things Gears.

Sometimes I get a kick out of getting the achievement for beating the game on hard for a game that's just balls, like that Terminator game for the 360, I think there was like 5 total and beating on normal was 4 of them. Double suffering makes for double satisfaction?

As far as annoying goes, I don't like ones that require you spend RL money (pro drums, guitar, bass on RB3, card packs for Madden, must have kinect/move, etc). I'll call DLC specific achievements a grey area.

There are quite a few, obviously, and my choices will sway from time to time.

Currently, however, the achievement for beating Mass Effect 3 on Insanity. Seriously, that is...well, let's just say that the difficulty level is not lying.

In general, though, multiplayer achievements are impossible for me, since I don't have Xbox Live Gold, and therefore cannot play online.

Back when I actually cared about Achievement hunting; I played a little game called Dead Rising. There was an achievement I loathed gaining: Zombie Genocider. Essentially, you had to kill 53,594 zombies, which took forever; even when one used the maintenance tunnels and a car. -_-

Either that, or ANYTHING to do with juggling a bunch of survivors at once (I'm looking at YOU "Frank the Pimp")

surprised no one mentioned this WoW one...Insane in the Membrane. It's now completely impossible to get, was always a Feat of Strength (requirements not listed, achievement not shown before you get it) and required you to grind *ALL* the old world 'completely pointless now' reps up to Exalted, including Mutually Exclusive goblin cities and Bloodsail Buccaneers. And these aren't your modern day namby pamby exalted in a week of quests reputations either, these were 'rare-uncommon drop item gives you mebee 50 rep with them' and one of them requires both inscription and dumb luck. You *WERE* rewarded for your efforts, though, with the title 'the Insane'.

And of course immortality, because how can you kill that which has no life?

Competitive multiplayer achievements are generally the worst. Most multiplayer games wind up dead around a year after release, and even if they're still kicking, they depend just as much on the other players as yourself.

I have a list of achievements that annoy me:

- Any 1G achievements on Xbox
- COD WaW veteran. One word: Grenades.
- "Complete all activities COOP on Saints Row 2" I did this but it glitched out and left me one short, despite playing with the same person on every single activity in one session.
- "Do a barrel roll" in GTA IV. I crashed hundreds of times and rolled about 5-10 times a crash, it finally unlocked when I hit a wall head on. Totally ridiculous.
- Free for all achievements on Halo 3. I have friends, I have no need to play with total strangers whom all play like tools. (Although the sticky-grenade achievement was super fun)

Also, regarding GTA IV. I missed out on the "Do the game in under 30 hours" by 20mins. I had no idea there was an achievement for this and spent most my time just adventuring and taking in the city. Really need to do a speed run again though as I feel it would go nicely next to my "100% completion" badges!

EDIT:

Actually scrap all the above. ANY achievement in an EA game. Not only as I refuse to buy them now, but because they scrap all support to make way for games like BF. I can't even play 2 player COOP in Army of Two :(

MY KUNG FU IS FUCKING STRONGER from Mortal Kombat

Requires you to accumulative 24 hours of gameplay with every character..INCLUDING SHEEVA..EEWWW

At the minute I'm annoyed by the "collet 1 Million bolts" trophy in Ratchet and Clank HD, mainly because I've bought everything and got every other trophy meaning its completely pointless.

Oh my god, that.

It took me like 20mins. I kept getting the assassination but it refused to unlock!

Hands down the "There Can Be Only One..." Achievement for Total War: Shogun 2. It requires you to be number one on the multiplayer leaderboard, and only one person has ever got it so far.
This.

Seriously, how many people did they expect to get this achievement?
At a rough guess, maybe... Oh I dunno... one?

Anyway, I'm just gonna be boring and say All Guns cheat in Egyptian Temple. Not all that hard unlocking it by itself, but when you consider what has to be done to unlock the level that unlocks it... *shudder*

Any achievement that requires team input. Stuff like in AC2 where you have to simultaneously kill people or some other nonsense. You will either get these achievements through playing for a very long time and getting super lucky, or farming them.

Alternatively any achievement that makes you grind for hours. I think Resistance 2 had one that was like get 10k kills online and another that was like get 1 million xp online.

That is the easiest out of all the Seriously... achievements. All you have to do is ride the Brumak on the hardest difficulty. You get around 1000 to 2000 kills per run.

Now, Gears 1 or Gears 3, those were fucking annoying as all hell.
Not sure where you're getting 1000-2000 kills from. From my own experience you average maybe 100-200 kills on that level and all the guides I've looked up say pretty much the same thing.A friend of mine got the achievement by grinding the Brumak bit and he reckoned it took him close to 20 hrs which is something I have absolutely no intention of doing
