Hardest Multiplayer Games You've Played?

My candidates:

MGO: Constantly going up against people who have obviously been playing the game every day since it's release and can single-handedly dominate an entire team of players using machine guns by just rolling around and hitting people with the stun knife. Although it's rare that I go up against high-ranking players. The game is super elitist. Half the games are locked off from lower-ranked players and you're more than likely to get booted from the other half.

Lost Planet 2: Plays almost like a scifi mod of MGO. It has everything MGO has: Characters that you can only start customizing after playing the game for 100 hours, foreign players who've been playing the game every day since it's release and can kill you with a thought, guns that take two or three clips to kill someone unless you have perfect aim, people rolling around and slapping each other constantly, and a difficulty curve so steep it might as well be a sheer fucking cliff.

Crysis 2: That Feline is a beast. Thing is like instant death, one of the most overpowered guns I've seen in any game.

Demons' Souls. I love how I'm hacking away at enemies and then "You are being invaded" followed by me saying "Huh?" right before I get neatly diced into small chunks and made into chille.

Marvel vs Capcom 3. Most of its difficulty though is just due to the shameless cheap fighting.

TF2. Cause I suck at it. Hey did you know that it's free to download now, and that I just bought it three weeks ago? You know, with money. Haha... yeah...[sub][sub]yeah[/sub][/sub]

An FPS or RTS. Pick one. Any of them. I will never win, or even get a kill, if it's an FPS.

I am bad at games, yes. TBS is only marginally less terrible, and I occasionally have something resembling a chance if it's a fighting game.

Oh god, I should have said this. All it is is SUPER MEGA UBER SPAM. Dante is by far one of the worst offenders, combo 1 goes into combo 2 which leads to 3 and then a 4th combo and then 3 bar super combo and dead.

Any multiplayer game is only as hard/easy as the team you're playing against.

EDIT: Ok I agree, not always - some have far greater learning curves.

Mount and Blade Warband...though it could just be because I don't play online often.

In my entire gaming life, I have only returned 2 games. The other was Fuzion Frenzy 2.

SupCom: Forged Alliance has an absurd learning curve if you don't know what you're doing

i'm good at video games so basically every multiplayer i've played has gone decently well for me.. i'd say if you're just now starting WC3 you would have trouble because everyone who still plays that game now that it's been out for like 8 years is going to be pretty good

im going to say UFC unleashed was hard to play online, but that was because no matter what you did it was so fucking laggy there was no reasonable way to tell who was actually better at the game and whose internet was cutting out at the right times- by the same token Halo Wars had some balance issues that made online play frustrating and boring, but not necessarily difficult

certain communities tend to be less new player-friendly, or contain a higher amount of dedicated players when compared to others- for example, COD BLOPS is basically filled with a variety of players, meaning in most games you have a decent chance to get a game filled with people who aren't too ridiculously bad or good.. certain games have a community with a history, or only consist of stupidly dedicated players

Minecraft.

It's you and your friends against the world.

And the world has skeletons, zombies, exploding monsters and lava.

Your move.

id say halo 2. i'd been playing halo 3 for a while, and when i heard they were shutting down halo 2 i got back on for one last time. of course all the little differences between the two games and the fact that the people on there had kept playing it after halo 3 came out meant that i got my ass kicked

That's all true I agree, although Blops is pretty damn hard when you're fighting host advantage on your crappy Irish interent... :D

I sorta have to disagree. Some games have massive inballances. In League of Legends (for example) there is a character that can throw a ball that she can then cast attacks from and it doesn't draw any tower aggro because its range is much further then the tower. I know this doesn't sound awful but for the first 6 levels of the game your tower is your security blanket.

I recently tried to get back into Monday Night Combat on XBLA and man did it and its community put a hurt on me. The games DotA like set-up means you'll have a million things firing at you (turrets, bots and other players). And the players annoy me people always start backpedaling/strafing when you're playing Assassin/ Tank (two short-ranged classes) and they always kill me. Or they just plain seem to do more damage to me than I'm doing to them despite us both using the same gun. Yeah I decided to give up again after this, when it first came out it was fun because everyone was learning how to play now its nothing but veterans.

That's what makes MGO and LP2 extremely hard games.

Not many people play online (At the most I think I've only seen over 1,200 players on MGO) but the people who do are on there almost every day.
