some people actually like Halo. That is the most shocking thing in gaming.

That and how bad AoE3 is compared to second one.

I guess I could say Bioshock.

Killed one of the Big Daddies. He was guarding one Little Sister, so I decided to go for the kill. Killed him and was just about to harvest the Sister, when.....

Wake up Mr. Bubbles!
Mr. Bubbles! Why aren't you moving?!
Get up, Mr. Bubbles! Get up!

Made feel really bad inside

Fallout 3. I was doing the assassination mission for Mr Crowly in Underworld. "You've got to shoot them in the head" it was called. I told him I wasn't going to kill the three non-ghoul haters. He attacked me. Next thing I know the whole town is after me and I die several times from the Mr Gutsy before realising I need heavier firepower. So I travel back to where I stashed my Fatman, retrieve it, and head back to Underworld. I then try several times to kill that bloody robot. Eventually, I think it was on my 7th or 8th attempt, I nuke the robot and kill off any hostiles. As I'm standing victorious I literary yell out "Hell yeah! I killed them" Before realising I've pretty much committed genocide. "Oh shit. I killed them". The only people left were Carol, Tulip, and three randoms. I felt awful. I also spent time trying to talk more to Tulip. I was always drawn to her, I just wanted to her what she had to say. Which wasn't much. But she was still my favorite character (wow that sounds so otaku-ish).

And again we have one of these comments.

People like stuff you don't - get over it.

Thank heavens i am not the only one. Only for me it was Moira (that is why i do not understand all the moira hate out there).

Talking to others about games reminded me of really old games that kind of shocked me:
Harvester (the idea of what they tried to create(ingame) was icky at best)
Phantasmagoria 1 and 2 (although i enjoyed 1 more, 2 was just trying to see how far they could go)

The ending of Half-Life 2 Episode 2 shocked my quite a lot.
+1

Bioshock
The would you kindly thing was very awesome oh and the murdering of Andrew Ryan by yours truly

Bioshock 2
When you are running and at the turn you see explosives and then...eleanor disappears...i was like "oh fu..."

That and the horrible storytelling of the game was as a whole. having freshly finished the first i was a tad bit disappointed at the effort the devs. gave it.

Never been particularly shocked by a game.....massively surprised yes, but never * MASSIVE GASP* shocked...The ending of Red Dead Redemption was a pleasant surprise as I felt that the narrative was taking me to a completely different (and utterly predictable) direction, only for something unexpected to kick me in the balls. Was good.

Heavy Rain initiated some surprised faces from me...

EDIT: I just thought of one...I was shocked at the decidedly terrible narrative lack of ingenuity of Bioshock 2. Compared to how I felt about the first game, I was massively disappointed.

EDIT2: just thought of another one! the horse dick in Red Dead Redemption. Perhaps not so much shock as confusion followed by days and days of hysterical laughter.

I'm always shocked when a major game character dies. I won't list any, to avoid spoilers, but it always seems to get me. You just don't expect a main character to die.

I will say, the twist in Digital Devil Saga 2 was pretty shocking to me. All through the first one, you are led to believe one thing. And then in the second one, they twist the point of view around and you feel like an utter cad.

Kat's death in Reach. It was so sudden, so utterly unexpected, I believe I actually jumped. Throughout it I was thinking "Wait... what? No... how? She's... really dead?" It took a while to sink in.

But an even more shocking moment came in Homeworld. Those who have played to the third level of that game will know what I'm talking about.

"No-one's left... Everything's gone... Kharak is burning..." God, to this day, that almost brings me to tears.

Hilariously witty, and it contributed!

OT: Red Dead Redemption's ending for certain. I don't think another game has really hit me like that before.

Yeah, thanks for spoilering that like I just did...

Shouldn't assume people survive when they happen to be on Reach, but you know.

Anyone remember Chiller?
That's my answer whenever I see questions like this.
I was just a kid when it came out but it sure shocked me.
It's a good thing it was made before the esrb, otherwise we would've never known it.

I told you Kat died. Everyone knows everyone on Reach dies. I decided to not include the circumstances of her death, which would have been a major spoiler.

Also: I lol'd at your sarcasm. (Yes, I actually did)

In Fallout 3 when you get Charon as a follower. That scene made me quietly mouth.. W..T..F.. I was genuinely surprised by what happened there.
Ah Charon. The only follower for me. It's certainly reassuring when get a new follower and his first action is to blow his former employers head off.

When Roach and ghost get shot. It was so unexpected, i was so shocked. it was only as i was being tossed in the ditch i could comprehend the horror :'( i still dont know why they had to die either...ghost was awesome XD Although i have only only once hated a bad guy more than shepard, and that was in red dead redemption. you know who it is.
