Met Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock when they came to visit my elephants. They were really nice, humble people.
I... wait, your elephants?
Yeah, I work in a zoo :D

The owner's wife went to university with Sandra Bullock, so she and Ryan came for a special visit.

I actually met Andrew Zimmern of "Bizarre Foods" fame when he was doing a book singing for his book "The Bizarre Truth" at the Mall fo America. We talked bizarre things we had eaten and he even recommended a good place for me to get great dim sum. Although...I think I may have outweirded him by mentioning I liked plain lutefisk. Because he said...and I quote...

"Now THAT'S bizarre!"

Your mileage may vary in terms of "famous people". My country is so small (3 million people) that someone famous here could be relatively close.

For example, I have personally spoke to a couple different presidents, and actually met several TV comedians.

I've met Bruce Campbell while he was shopping at an organic foods store in Oregon, I've seen President Obama (in person) as he was visiting Hawaii after he was elected, and I've exchanged words with the Dalai Lama over a week ago while he was visiting University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Tim McIlrath and Zach Blair from Rise Against at a concert. I've met Tim twice though and Zack only once. Both of them are great guys.

I've also met a few Norwegian celebrities, but they're only famous here so I wont mention them...

I met George Carlin once. By accident mostly he was doing a show here in Hagerstown MD. After the show I got shuffled way back by the people leaving. Got to met him as he was leaving, didn't say much just shook his hand and told him how I much loved his act and how he made me laugh. That's about it.

I met Tony Blair(Former Prime Minister of GB) when I was about 10. He was visiting the cricket club my dad played at. I believe it was during the election or the run up to it in 2001.

I haven't met anyone I'd consider really famous, so just a fair number of interesting game industry people. I worked at id for a while, so I saw John Carmack every once in a while at the Indian buffet at lunch, and weirdly the Mormon guy who made levels for Doom was one of my professors in grad school. Randy Pitchford is my boss now, and uh, I unintentionally met Epic's Mark Rein at GDC once (he was kind of a jerk).

Does almost getting run over by Mel Gibbson and then yelling many obscenities at his car as it drove away count?

I've also hung out with a minor pop singer, who I would be willing to bet none of you have heard of, because she is friends with some of my friends. I've never met someone so cheerful in my life (it was almost irritating).

Well, I met Terry Deary - that guy that wrote Horrible Histories - at the Edinburgh Book Festival a few years back. His books were my childhood, so it was fantastic meeting him. My friend (literally) bumped into Tony Robinson - Baldrick from Blackadder - at the same festival.

Oh, and I've met Princess Anne. But basically everyone in the UK has, she gets around.

I've met...
Lags Barnard from Gallows
Lee Spielman from Trash Talk
Itch from The King Blues (he was a prick)
Felix Riebl from The Cat Empire

I think that's it.

Are they really as nice as everyone says? I've heard their niceness gives Dave Grohl a run for his nice money.

Unless you'd count the voice actor for GIR from Invader Zim than no. I also got Johnny Young Bosh's autograph a while back, he was a Power Ranger. That counts as famous right?

Jeremy Bullock (Bobba Fett) real nice guy. I'm embarrassed that it was at a Star Wars "fan fun day" my friend dragged me to, mostly populated by parents and children. Made me feel like a douche.
I had a very similar experience, and met Jeremy Bulloch there as well. Oh, and Julian Glover (General Veers, Kristatos, Maester Pycelle). He's a very nice guy as well, must have talked to him for 10 minutes.

And I met Buzz Aldrin when he gave a lecture at my uni a couple of years ago. Told some great stories.

Other than that, some famous people from my own country, but none internationally famous.

When I was 17 and working as a silver service waiter at a Charity Function, I managed to shake hands with Dr Neil Armstrong.

I squealed like a little girl inside my head when that happened!!!!!

A few years ago I shook hands with Sir Arthur Arntzen. If you haven't heard of him, he's a Norwegian humorist who used to be pretty big in stand-up and acting in the 60s-80s and has an honourary title of both professor of humour and knight of the royal Order of St. Olav. Really nice and open guy.

Oh, and I've met King Harald the Fifth of Norway. Very briefly, as one of many that moment.
