Gaming is where I learned my ungodly vocabulary. If I didn't play games as much as I do I would be talking as though I was in the 9th grade or something.

Not specifically but I think reading WoW trade chat kills brain cells. Though I suppose that is the opposite of what you want to know.

Final Fantasy XI taught me a myriad of words...including the word myriad. That plus half of the god damn random mythology that's now embedded in my brain.

I learned to type, spell, and make valid sentences through Runescape. I also read a lot of novels but that doesn't help you write.

Funny thing is, I'm homeschooled, and I never studied anything. My first true class in english Comp 1, I made an A on all my Essay papers.

Suck it American educational system.

I can't think of anything, really. I have a pretty large vocabulary, and I can spell with the best of them.

However this isn't to say I haven't partaken in cognitive learning due to video games. God of War got me interested in Greek mythology, for example.

This might sound odd but i learn't from NeverWinter Nights online...

"Osmosis"

A word i would use again and again in biology. A friend i made online was called it, i asked what it mean't (if anything) and he answered. Simple, yet effective.

But i've learn't tonnes through films and games...

Another example being the words: Tyranny, persecution and oppression. - Independance day film.

I know that Pokemon taught me the word "critical" and that I learned about post-modernism and Meme theory from Metal Gear Solid 2... Those are the major ones I can think of. I would be extremely surprised if there weren't more, though.

I played Furcadia when I was a kid. Needless to say I can type nearly 106 wpm and learned far too many useless words from that game that I use to spice up random meaningless sentences.

double posts are my favourite.

Uhm, not a game but Bruce Almighty taught me how to spell beautiful. I know I'm not the only one.

LoadingReadyRun taught me that having the nuts means having good cards, and not to trust combine harvesters.

World of Warcraft has taught me many new words and new acronyms, how to type, and how to spell certain words.

Oblivion taught me the word, "Sanguine"

The Final Fantasy games pretty much taught me english, along with tv-shows like Friends, and WoW made me learn how to type really fast.
