Sure. I was playing FF games as a kid which helped with my reading and comprehension. I also honestly think I'd never heard the word 'sanguine' before playing Oblivion.
Kessen taught me about the battle of Sekigahara, down to the fact that Hidetada was held up and missed the battle, and that Tokugawa had to attack Kobayakawa before he would defect and fight for the East.
No, I don't think so. Fairly certain I can't anyway, no examples coming to mind. The only piece of media that's taught me out to spell for sure is Bruce Almighty.
The first word that comes to mind is "quest", so I guess that applies in particular.
The majority of my spelling prowness is the result of playing games, me thinks. Games where pretty much the only place where I would read English text and I had certainly not learnt words such as the aforementioned "quest" from school. Simply put, playing games led to literacy for me.
And i am pretty sure its meant to be Soleil and not Soliel.
Plus , your english teacher is allowed to make mistakes in latin.
One of my first games i had was leisure suit larry 1. As you can see you have to type in every command, and i was about....12?13? dunno perhaps even younger. So me as not native english speaker, sat in front of my ancient computer pushing in the
in and grabbed a dictionary to have a chance to get through.
And now imagine, there wasnt even an internet to get a walkthrough! i had to check for gametips and cheatcodes.....wait for it...... in the library
fun fact. you might have noticed the 5 questions at the beginning, which should check if you were old enough to play, it took me about 15-20 minutes sometimes restarting and reguessing them
Well, yeah, sure. Mostly just the odd word here and there. But I remember playing Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions.
Now that game opened up a lot of rather interesting grammar to me.
I pretty much learned my basic english skills from playing Morrowind. Talked and wrote somewhat oddly for the first while, but much better than my peers.
when I was younger I learned all sorts of words from video games that other kids didn't know I can't remember some of them though unfortunately but I did get comments of how many big words I knew (and now I get comments on how white I talk)
Snide insinuation from mass effect being a more recent word I learned
Yes. As I have spelling-dissorder and live in a country where english isn't even used between any groups, the english in videogames have stimulated my english more than I'm proud to admit.
One of the reasons may be because the first game I owned without sharing it with my brother was FF7. English-skills are pretty much required to do anything in that game.
