Happens a lot in BioShock. :/
Is that why all of the Spilcers looked like they were made out of play-doh in my game once?

Getting stuck on rock geometry in Bethesda games.
holy shit yes. the ONE TIME i didn't have a decent save was when i was in a huge ass cave and i got stuck like airtight inbetween a huge rock constellation, i was constantly falling so i had a upward superman pose but couldn't seem to jump out at all...took me a good 45 minutes to be able to do a turning crouch double jump just right...

A better question would be if you've ever played a game that didn't break the immersion in some way or another.

Playing anything by Bethesda. Or anytime I get the "Press Y to *Action.*"
God yes. I don't feel like I'm even playing the game anymore. Quick time events make me feel like I'm pressing a button in an elevator. Sure, the elevator is going where I want, but I had nothing to do with it apart from pressing that button. And that's fine in an elevator. You use those things to get someplace. But games are about the journey AND the destination, and QTEs take out all the journey.

That is probably why, sometimes the game has trouble loading textures when you play for extended periods of time.

Or you were in the Fort Frolic section where a lot of the splicers are covered in molding clay, thanks to Sander Cohen.

Playing Fallout 3, and then my controller dies and the screen pops up for me to stop being such a fuck and change out the batteries.

Also, dying kind of kills immersion!

Soldier: "Oh no! Our best and alast chance for survival just had his headblown off!"

Hero: *Rises like Jesus* "Never you fear! The checkpoint was near!"

Soldier: "Hallelujiah! God bless us, everyone!"

*Curtains close as everyone bows*

What the hell is a turning crouch jump. Sounds like a martial arts move.

haha for some odd reason when i was turning my foot would "touch ground" in a certain spot so that was the one chance i had at gettin out of the infinite falling, so i had to time it right and jump and then jump on the top edge of the rock to get out

Anytime I'm on a scavenger hunt in a video game and I can't find one of the things I'm looking for. It;'s worse when you have a little marker indicating where the object is, but it's not there. Scrambling around for minutes looking for something I should be able to find in seconds always kills immersion for me.

Which is happening to me right now in Borderlands.
Are you looking for a piece of a revolver by any chance?

this^^^^

i remember trying to find some of those parts...holy crap it was NO WHERE near the indicator, the AI was obviously drunk and crazy eyed when mapping that part

hmm now that i htink of it, anytime im playing a game where you are gunning and runnign away from something massive, such as a boss, and you get caught on NOTHING, but apparently there is a massive invisible corner sticking up out of the ground that holds onto you until you die.

No, a Sniper rifle. I think it fell out of the map, since the area it told me to look in was a small nook behind a hut. One that I could easily get myself stuck in.

Any game where if you try to sneak around but get spotted by one gaurd/soldier EVERYONE INSTANTLY knows where you are at all times until they are all dead or you are

or the telescopic x-ray visions enemis have in games like Far Cry 2.

or Scrolling text that is full of nothing but "Weathers nice ain't it duuuhhrrr" (old rpgs are notorious for this)

or Falling through the floor in a game (can be mildly amusing though)

Edit: Just to clarify... i mean falling through the floor that shouldn't have happened

Actually, I had that problem countless times. For those quests, you have to know that the marker just leads you to the right town/shanty that the parts are in, but you have to find the bits yourself. >.<

Actually, heres all the parts from the entrance...

1st. As you enter the area, to your upper right is a house hanging off a small cliff. Part is on a barrel/box out in front balcony.
2nd. Fallow the left wall until you start uphill. Stop. Look just at the base of the hill for a pile of scrap metal with a mattress on it.
3rd. Upper level. On a table in the back.
4th. Topity Top of the most topmost area, on top of the top most house.

BTW. When scavenging for gun parts. The way point does not show you the location of each part. It just takes you to the area.

The question is in the title. This could include a glitch by the game with ragdolls or maybe having a friend make you laugh at something that you just considered formidable etc. Basically anything that made you remember you were sitting down on a couch.

For me it was the
time you went into a trippy Altair sequence. While climbing the tower at the end I bumped Alair's head into a lamp on a string. And for the whole time I was climbing the tower and even after and during cutscene on top of the tower the lamp was flying around on an orbit around the pole it was tethered to. A shame too, for I finally had started to accept the animus load screens, which meant they no longer seemed to be screaming LOADING at me while I waited.
If you have been after the first time they remove you from the Animus to hit the switches it isn't a spoiler.
A bandit in oblivion was running from me and set off a flail trap. He started bouncing around the room and when he finally stopped his limbs were distorted and he was just floating there like a puppet. Immersion breaking? Yes. Awesome? Yes.

Fallout 3 freezing repeatedly so you have to reboot, that tends to break immersion a tad.
That makes me so mad, but even worse is that (I'm not sure if this is a typical occurance or if mine is just cursed) sometimes when I look to the horizon I suddenly see hundreds of flashing seizure lights that replace the skyline and just sort of fly all over the screen. It looks bad and I do everything in my power to avoid looking at it because it just looks so mechanical.
