I was watching Moviebob's review on Robin Hood, how slow it was and how terrible the story was for being a prequel without any indecation it is such. I was wondering, has there ever been a GOOD film Prequel? I don't remember ever actually of seeing a good prequel. Xmen Origins was both nothing we haven't seen, has some MAJOR contradictions to the two three other movies, and had some pretty snooze worthy action. All the Disney prequel/midquels have often added nothing to the films and have writing that feels like it is fanfiction (really, watch the Beauty and the Beast chirstmas special and tell me it doesn't belong on ff.net). The Star Wars Prequels... Yeah, I think you get my point. Anyway, can anybody here name me a good prequel?

Underworld Rise of the Lycans was a decent prequel. The other two movies had bits and flashbacks to past events and Rise showed the full sequence of events and even explains how most of the other characters came into the picture. I enjoyed it.

Star wars episode 2 was the most amazing prequel ever.
The Anakin/Padmé relationship would like to speak with you.

OT: Goddammit, I know I must have seen a good prequel somewhere but I can't think where... I think it may have actually been a game, but whatever it is it has sealed itself in the bathroom.

EDIT: If Batman Begins counts, then that however I'm pretty sure that's not the one I'm thinking of.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - it gets a lot of undeserved hate, in my opinion. Sure, Willie and Short Round are annoying as all hell, but I really liked the fact that it was a lot darker than the others. Since Raiders is a balance between action and humour, and Last Crusade is played almost entirely for laughs, I think Temple of Doom rounds out the trilogy quite nicely. The set design is absolutely incredible as well.

The Phantom Menace/ Revenge of the Sith - these will undoubtedly be controversial. Don't get me wrong; Attack of the Clones is crap, but if you watch these two without the hype that built up to them, they actually stand up pretty well. They don't hold a candle to the Original Trilogy, but they're still good films. Jake Lloyd is horrible, yes, but as a tradeoff we got Liam Neeson. Likewise, while Revenge of the Sith certainly had its moments of unintentional hilarity, the tragedy and darkness of the story helped make up for those moments. It also gave us Anakin vs. Obi-Wan, possibly the best duel of the entire saga.

yeah i actually prefered rise of the lycans as the whole Vampire Vs Lycan story seemed to fit medieval times better.

Casino Royale and Batman Begins rebooted the series so I don't think they count. And dont get me started on what a steaming pile of crap the new Star Trek was, I refuse to see anything from JJ Abrams ever again because of that abortion of a movie.

OT: I don't think I have seen any or heard of any that were any good.
