I would simply let friends and family know about the altercation and if you think he really is capable or knows people that a capable of carrying through with the threats then log a compaint with the local authorities.

Unfortunetely as with most political extremes the people involved making the threats arent exactly rational to begin with.
Well I already tried apoligiseing but that didn't work. Im not gonna go to the Gards(our police force) as this little shit and his skanger friends are all 16 or 17. What I am planning to do is just ignore him. I have plenty of practice walking away from fights so I think I'll just do that.
Well, given that they are teenagers I would defintely lodge a complaint.

I'll just go to my History teacher and tell her if they start giving me Hassle. She has the same views as me on the North and I'm one of her favourite (though not best) students. Also my vice-principal likes me as well because I work as a student IT man for some teachers so he dosn't have to.

I live in a secular country so I have never had to care about crazy religius fanatics and havent been involved in war for over 200 years and the political extremism are few in numbers.
so if this guy makes reality of his threat you should come here and hide.

but really you should tell someone in your family

This is a scenario that has happened to me over the last two days and I want to know if anyone has ever had a situation like this.

I have a view that the violence in Northern Ireland was nothing but a mudering slaughter fest that proved nothing. Now some people down here in the South find the North a touchy subject as they have not experianced the violence. One such person found my views annoying and has threatened to kill me when i go back to school I have managed to (hopefully disarm this situation) but I have a feeling this will come back to haunt me.

So I ask you the Escapist has this or something like this (i.e. Your personal beleaves) ever gotten you threatened or in trouble before.

And please dont derail this one as I really would like feed back.
Im from belfast. I go to an integrated school and on ocasion there is tension between the two sides.
Has there ever been violence? And besides you live in Belfast this stuffs your history I'm in Dublin and while granted we have some history on it it is not enough that I should get threatened for saying Terrorism is wrong.
Theres been the ocasional fight nothing much. Your completely right in saying that terrorism is wrong. Belfast was very close to shedding the violent image until the disident republicans began murdering policemen and soilders. Why on Earth would anyone want the troubles to start again?
Because there is now a recession and Nationalism always grows during recession. Hitler came to power because the German economy got screwed after WW1 as when there is a recession you blame the people in charge and if the people in charge are from a different country then you try to be independent/rejoined with your old home. Down here it is just the biased school system as they have only just started introducing a balanced history education system about the North. My old history book for example just constantly yells about the Brits being evil and the IRA terrorists being heroic and noble so when you have a Generation that has been spoon-fed pure propaganda about another country this sort of shit will happen.
well thats just throwing logs on the fire if you ask me. Its going to keep the bitterness going.

I agree with you. I wish people would just get over it and this little god-forsaken island could have some peace for once.

I would prefer that purely because I can mess around with peoples religious beliefs (The CAD tactic) but politics are something different entirely.
CAD tactic?

but seriously, this kinda thing is nothing new to anybody. when stuff like this happens, people get touchy and use it as excuse to rage and let out their corked testosterone. silly humans, your too squishy to actually stand a chance of survival.:3

I was once broke up a fight between two women, and not only got the shit clawed out of me, but also got threatened for interfering. So is the life of a decent person.

Being a Mennonite I'm a pacifist, and also I can honestly and thankfully say I've never been in any dangerously violent situation, threatening or otherwise.

It's Christians like that who give Christians like me a bad name, they need to be exterminated. Honestly. I'm not kidding.

Anywho, I haven't been threatened like that ever before. Good luck with that situation.
Warning! Irony overload!!
Religion - don't you just love it?

It is in a Ctrl-Alt-Delete comic when he sets up his own church. One of the character's asks representatives from the other religions a question. I can't remember the question of hand but it was a really good one to confuse the other religions.

i havent been threatened like that before, but if i went to school in a place where people are extreme christians, then id probably be threatened 20 times a day. im even counting myself out the Peoples Church officialy, you know, with signing papers and all, mainly because they crave 2% of the money i earn each year, and the fact that Christianity is the thing i hate the most in the world.

Got harassed for being 'emo', which apparently entails not liking Slayer. I was at fault though. Shouldn't pay attention to shite music. The guy was still an idiot. He didn't like my 'faggoty gayness'. Mind you, this was all online. He never got near me in town or anything. Don't know why..He's like 6foot something and I'm skinny to the point where my girlfriend can pick me up with relative ease.

Yes, actually. He was trying to convince me that every word in the Bible needs to be taken at face value. I may be Christian, but I'm not a radical conservative, so I said "I don't. It was written two thousand years ago at least for a group of nomadic Jews. This is one of the issues no one will ever change my mind about, just let it lie." He tried to change my mind with force, so I broke his arm in three places. I'm always up for a rational discussion, but don't attack me. If you do it physically, I have friends who can take you on if I can't. If you do it verbally, I (probably) know more words than you do.

Let me answer your question in the thread title, no, it has never happened to me.
I hope it will never happen to me, I don't like being threatened.
