Yep, in the time i takes to load a single page of the forums i can buffer about 1.5 minutes of 720p youtube video.

So that's, what, 3mb verses 30?

Defintely noticing the slowdown, but with the PC I'm using it's hard to tell if it's not just coming from my end; sometimes animated advertisements/banners/whatever can crash my browser, leading to the obvious conclusion that my computer is WAY past due being overhauled. Essentially, I'm not sure if the new look is just more demanding on my (very dated) computer's resources or there's other issues arising from it as well.

Fortunately, I have the parts together for the aforementioned overhaul together and ready to go; just waiting for my "expert" (read: a relative from out of town, though he is a certified expert) to get here in a few days, mostly because I don't screw up the (re)building of my PC. It'll be quite the upgrade, moving to a quad-core (from a single-core) and finally getting off of the memory-hogging Vista (didn't bother upgrading from that until I overhauled my entire system... which I'm getting around only now).

Tangential anecdote aside, there's definitely been a slowdown. Not quite crippling, but it's definitely notable. However, it'll be about a week before I can say if it is just on my (soon to be remedied) end or not.

Some pages don't load for me first time around. I've gotten to the stage where I'll open a page here and while waiting for it to load, go view another website.

Oh you noticed that, did you? Makes me think of one of the Murphy's Laws of Computing, "A complex system that doesn't work invariably evolved from a simpler system that worked fine."

I generally keep the home page up in one tab and open up videos and, forum-threads in others. Ever since the change everything has been loading much more slowly. Well, not everything, just the pages. The videos still load and run fine once they pages are up but right now for example, this is tab 2 of 3 Escapist tabs. 1 is the home page and 3 is another thread which still has yet to load as I type this.

Yep. And it was pretty damn slow before they made these arbitrary changes.
Yeah, the Escapist was never lightning fast, but this....Wow.

I open several topics at once (usually the most recent posts), since odds are one or two will eventually load.

I still end up browsing other sites while I wait, to boot.

Yes, massively. Pre-update, I could load the main page in ~2 seconds, now it and every subsequent page request takes ~20 seconds.

I tried tracing the route to the servers and couldn't find any significant latency jumps. No dropped packets either. The problem is that I don't have a pre-update tracert to compare it to.

I would assume that it's just poorly optimised architecture, and so will probably be fixed fairly quickly.

The site always has been on the slow loading side, but now it's like 10+ seconds to load which is pain in the ass because I like to que up a bunch of tabs and get reading.

It's always been slow for me. Got a slow internet and all that.

So yeah, if it's a bit slower, I can take it. I've been through worse.

Horrendously so, yes. It took *eleven freaking minutes* for a comment I made earlier to load. I walked off, got tea, came back and it was still whirring away. If the site now being either blinding or hideous, depending on whether you use a Firefox addon, wasn't bad enough. (Note to the developers: I was seriously considering Pub Club. I've stopped considering it.)

Oh, and as a potential up-side, it's now telling me that the Off-Topic Forum "alas, this forum has yet to receive a post". Seriously, I'd kiss my shoes if that were true.

It took 3 tries to load this page, if thats any indication. But yes, it has been quite slower since the update.

It took two minutes for me to load an article earlier today. Then I had to deal with the blinding color scheme and the blurry text.

Yes, yes it is. I have a high-speed internet connection, so I'm not getting any of the horror stories as shown above, but yes, it's taking me noticeably longer than usual.
