Controversial I know.

Anyway I was thinking (surprising right?) that I don't actually find the new ZP's that funny. Maybe it's just me, or the 'shock' has worn off but I think it's because they're all a bit samey. Apart from a few such as the Wolfenstein review which were pretty special, the new ones seem to be...

'I was playing this game... (insert obscure expletive)... (insult developer)... (make a cock joke)...

...and I'm not really finding it funny any more. My thought is that it should do what The Office did and stop now before it gets worse.

Or am I completely wrong?

(Normal rules apply about respecting opinions and being nice blah-de-blah blah)

i dunno, once you get over the 'controversy' of what he says you appreciate the points that he actually makes about the games. They aren't as funny, but they are more informative.

The Mass Effect 2 review was a fucking hoot, so I'd say it's getting better again.

I was never amused by Yahtzee's accent or the fact that he did swear so much and that he was insulting. I'm amused by his shit because he's funny. Especially compared to those other reviewers that try and act funny (at least the ones I've seen, Irate gamer + AVGN).

Edit: He also has helpful things to say about games, for me at least. He went downhill for a few episodes around the Wolfenstein review now that I think about it.)

For me, Zero Punctuation has changed from the all-out, rolling-on-the-floor laughfest that it used to be, to warranting an occasional chuckle.

After so long, anything begins to become stale. It happened when I first saw the Angry Video Game Nerd, and now it's happened to Zero Punctuation. It's pretty inevitable.

To quote the man himself, "it's kinda funny how things stop being funny the longer you live with them".

But on the other hand, recent ones were getting more entertaining.

It's still going to be profusely popular. I still think it is the second most over-appreciated show on the Escapist.
What's the first?

i would say first is any of those animated things where all the body parts can only move one at a time - see doraleus and associates, game dogs, and apocolypse lane

and i get your point, as the average wage-slave can only afford one game a month (or at least, me) his reviews dont really apply to me. but play the game, and then go back a year later
flaming comic hilarity

Personally I think it hit rock bottom last year around the time of the Sims 3 and Ghostbusters reviews. Those were just crude.

Got to admit. You two posting this at the same time got me a chuckle.

OT: It hasn't run it's course. But I will admit, it hasn't made me burst gut laughing in a long time. Same with Nostalgia Critic and AVGN, but they are still fun to watch.
