Its national anthem is frankly terrible.

...

It just doesn't scan. It is all over the place.
But at least you don't need a three octave range to sing it properly.

It's because as a nation, we have low self-esteem issues. It's always the most fun to pick on the guy you can get a rise out of.

You don't need a three octave range to sing I'm Too Sexy either, and that would make a better anthem.

That should be the Canadian national anthem. Not only does it scan, but it would be good to see the athletes trying to sing it at the Olympics.

I don't really see much that's wrong with Canada it's a beautiful place to live, especially in British Colombia, the landscape is amazing. Only thing i don't like about Canada is their government. They have a bit too much control over things. But other then that, it's awesomez
LOL.

Sorry, I don't even know why I'm laughing per se, but I, in all honesty, did.

It's probably the dig at the government, and mostly because of the irony of claiming that the government has too much control, when the government in power is right-wing (or at least right wing on the canadian spectrum).

Canada's awesome, and the lot of you yanks would be privaledged to live here. Srsly.

Hu, funny. I could of sworn they were left-wing/liberals. My Stepdad was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. I got to visit his family for a week. It was incredible. But really with the laws they have and how the economy is being run, I would say they are left wing such as having labor unions (which i despise, mainly because where I live, they are scamming lazy assholes and they give people who don't work hard better pay and less hours.) and being big advocates of protecting the environment (which is a good thing in my mind.) Those are some things that liberals usually side with in general. lol I don't want to go much more into it as I'm pretty ignorant on the subject. I know there is a ton of stuff about it, but I don't really remember much of it. plz correct if I'm wrong :)

Me and my friends make fun of it, but it's not malicious.

It helps that they're so close, and making fun of Mexico is A. Too easy and B. probably racist.

It's funny because I had a debate in my class and the first thing my party wanted to pass was legalizing pot.

Because it's basically Estonia, but with bears.
Also it has a bunch of epic islands, man I want to go there. If you Google Earth it you see a bunch of bases with massive trucks going everywhere o_O
Anyone know what goes on up there?

People hate Canada because they are compensating for their inferiority :) ... it might also be something to do with pride...

As compared to the political spectrum in the staes, they are left wing. Moreso than the democrats. To the rest of the westernized world, they're centre-right. American politics are so skewed into the nutbar fringes of the right wing, you've collectively lost touch with what a left and right wing actually are. Your calibration is off.

What you really ought to know is that we weathered the econominc crash of '08 with nary a skinned knee, and our dollar is currently seeing parity with the american dollar. Say what you will about government control, we're economically a lot better off right now.

I think... because America is misinformed. Canada does so many things, and yet we get "hey, Canada just stands in USA's shadow. What did they invent, Celine Dion? Pfft."

At the World Youth Day in July 2002, my husband met people from Texas that came to Toronto... and brought ONLY warm clothes, bought new winter coats, etc. Because they thought there would be snow.

Come on!!

I always relate America/Canada to Australia/New Zealand, but depending on the situation, Australia is either America or Canada.
In other wirds, when it's about making fun of accents, Australia is America, making fun of New Zealand, but when it comes to culture, I'd side with Canada (assuming what I've heard is correct (the large 'laid back' attitude, not super-involved in politics like Americans, basically all-round fun-loving).

So yeah, I never make fun of Canada except in a 'How I met your mother' kind of way.
