While I agree the human race is somewhat becoming a plague upon the earth, I do believe that humanity, given the proper resources and time, could perhaps become better as a whole. Yes there are bad people, but there is also good people as well. Yes there is slavery, starvation, the dramatic dwindling of resources, but there is also the technology available to solve such problems. I like humans as a whole, although I can agree that many people can be quite...unlikable to say the least. Most of these "I hate humanity" people are angsty teens anyways, why do they hate humanity? Because people picked on them for whatever reason? because they admire character's behaviors, such as "House"? Well whatever the reason, people like that tend to either be quite ignorent, or quite arrogent in their views about such things; or they are just going through that stage in life.

The Box question I know that everyone who said that they would do it is trying to stretch the truth to sound cool. It's just that... pretty much everyone is crap... Take Communism for example... the only reason anyone is against it is because humans are too corrupt to handle it. People could do great things, but they don't. We're pretty lazy and cruel when it comes down to it... It's just the fact that so much money is spent on wars just to get land and money... companies who would rather have you dead because they can get millions of dollars out of your death... I really wish that people could do good and if we focused on the right things I'm completely sure that we could do great things... but for right now, we're not in a very good spot... maybe I'm just watching too many Michael Moore films documentaries...

But personally, I could never kill a human or an animal... you know what they always say... if you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change. And I'm starting with the man in the mirror...

Maybe it's because a lot of them are still like prepubescent kids with nothing else to comeback with other than "your mom" and "gay" jokes.
Your mom is a prepubescent kid... who is gay. Honestly, that's a big part of it... and this site fits so many stereotypes it's not even funny...

Because I'm an ass-hole who boils people down to statistics, simple yes?

I care about people... when they earn my care.

And yes, I'm fully aware that I'm pompous and evaluating myself above others in a posh manner... and I don't give a damn. I'd gladly kill a stranger for half a million, see? Not only am I killing a stranger, I'm undermining the market by 50% the standard fee.

I used to hate people, but then I grew up a little and realized how petty and small I would have to be to pass judgment on six or seven billion people based on the tiny number of people I've met and got to know intimately. I also used to be depressed and a loner. The more I accomplish in life, the more I appreciate just how great people are and can be.

Hell, I've worked as a nurse, I'm trying to get into an EMT program during nights, and I'm pre-med. I may not like all people, but I do give a shit about them.

I can't stand misanthropes. Not for teddy's reason of treachery, but because they don't do anything about anything except join the heard complaining about it, and then complain about the heard being heard-like. They seem to completely ignore the positive aspects of humanity, and seem to be basing their view of the entire human race on their jaded view of their own reality.

I also believe that people are fundamentally good. I believe we are mostly benign, and are only driven to evil as a result of circumstance. I believe we have the power of self-determination, the power to dictate our own morality without God and his archaic 'Original Sin'. I believe we have proven ourselves capable of truly fantastic technological, theoretical, scientific, emotional and artistic feats, and that appreciation of your fellow man's plight is the only real flaw. That is, people don't care enough. They look down on the rest of the human race and that really pisses me off. As if they have the omniscience to judge whether we're worthy of existence, what are they? Gods? The arrogance infuriates me.

Misanthropes perpetuate this apathy from their computer chairs. You'll rarely find one in the places where the vicissitudes of our evil sides run rampant, which I think really highlights how pessimistic, selfish, arrogant, and unproductive a worldview it is. Before you start making you claims about how to 'better the universe', how about you take a look in the mirror and better yourself. Go out and see the world and see how awesome people really are. Maybe then you'll be a bit more hesitant about condemning them all.

I just want it to put its money where its mouth is and, as an ideology, go and jump off a cliff.

Bah.

and the traitors arrive in the thread at last.
Are you so removed from the rest of your race that you do not see our good?
Do you stupidly think that every bad thing you hear happens is something that everyone does?!

You all are so blinded by how you want to view humanity to see our greatness! Our good! Our ability to care and love!
*pats on back* Calm down Teddy....there's nothing you can do for misanthropes besides wait until the angst goes away.

People tend to be more wary of other's flaws, whether they themselves have it or not. What some think as "stupid" are actually flaws that have been present in the human race for thousands of years.

Hrm, come to think of it, I myself am calling people out on being stupid for calling others stupid. Would that also make me stupid? How meta.

Perhaps people hate humanity so much because it is so easy to hate these days. That, and an increased amount of pessimism in the world. Perhaps its the news, or the overall feeling of the times, or whatever. Things is, people feel increasingly bleak about the world they live in, especially the people that live in it.

Now, we always get those who do it cause its cool, so lets just drop that idiocy right now. I would think that perhaps the biggest reason humanity gets such a bad rap from so many of its own kind is cause.....its the only one that can do that.

I've yet to hear some squirrels discussing how humanity pisses them off, or heard a rock say how angry he was that the human who walked by earlier was annoying as hell.

We humans are absolutely unique on this planet, because not only do we keep our weakest and most useless people alive as long as possible, but we also manipulate our surroundings, are social creatures that can assign things like love, depression, and all those other terms.

We probably notice the hate more because the bears (well, not publicly anyway) don't openly speak of how pissed off they are at us too.

I don't hate people exactly, I just don't understand them (Emotion, fear)
(Like the traits of a socio-path)

But i'm not. I respect the need of having a family. I have no religion (It's just a false hope, heaven nor hell exist) our only purpose on earth is to look after ourselves. Therefore I have no time for other people. They are just tools for me to play with.In the end of the day, we're all going to die, may as well make the most of it.

I think the label socio-path is obscured. It just seems like a label extroverts give to people which share a different way of life than their own, but it seems like the only way to live.
But saying this, I like to spend my time on educated internet forums such as this. At least most of you are interesting.

Does what I believe have a special label (EG, Misanthropy) or is this just my opinion?

*read this in epic russian accent*
Some of these people are teenagers who act dark and edgy because it's cool. Some others -the minority- really are that misanthropic.
There, an answer. Can we end the thread now?
*no more russian accents for yeh*

I love how your picture is of Cloud, who saves the world from being destroyed and your talking about them destroying it! Haha, sorry i've been playing Final Fantasy seven lately and found this amusing...I'm gonna shut up now...

I don't hate humanity/mankind, but I do hate some people, and that's inevitable, but I still have hope for the world!
