... Well, that was something.

Given the grittiness of the trailer, I'm pretty sure the intended reaction is disgust or something like that. It's killing with little to no context. You're not fighting evil soldiers to save the world or zombies to survive; you're killing innocent people begging to live.

If the game explains motivations or explores the making/aftermath of an unapologetic serial murderer, maybe I'd look into it to see what's the big bait-and-switch. Will it be how the objective of the game is similar to other games with the targets painted over? Will it the be the exploitation of killings in fiction/non-fiction? The mindset that virtual lives hold zero value? What is it?

What is the bloody point?

The game doesn't seem to be advertising itself as fun, so I'm trying to understand its purpose.

In the end, though, there's not much one can do outside of criticism. Artistic integrity and all that.

I had to watch it again, this time in fullscreen to make sure I didn't miss anything. And yeah, this is very, very distasteful. I know it's a game, but even in video games I absolutely hate unjustified violence. And this is just waaaaay too much. I remember really hating some of the death screams in Mass Effect 2, especially those of female NPC's. They were horrifying. And this game seems to be all about horrifying death and begging for mercy. I won't judge anyone if they want to play this, but it's definitely not for me.

That was the funniest game trailer I've seen this year. I could just hear "Crawling" in the background during his gear up scene. "These people are just worms feeding on the world's carcass." Christ, that is something a 9th grader says during their "fuck the world" phase.

That doesn't look appealing at all. It's just over the top brooding and violence. The "news" outlets will have a field day with it though. Way to improve the 'gamer' image, whoeverthehellmadethis.

Call me squeamish, but I found that trailer pretty disturbing. Still, I don't know how controversial this will be among gamers & games media. I mean: the Grand Theft Auto series and Hotline Miami (among others) are widely loved even though both are really violent.

It's a bit dated, don't you think? The "long haired, trenchcoat wearing loser who listens to metal" is very late-90s/early-00s. It's almost as if they've decided enough time has passed to make Columbine: The Game a thing.

I hope it garners "look at how silly this is" press than anything actually controversial. I wouldn't mind getting a laugh at seeing something trying so hard to get a message out... kinda like that one "so bad it's good" movie Branded. I mean cmon... forced controversy? I really hope people don't fall for it, but then again I'm never one to doubt media exaggeration either.

Lame and looks like another shock tactic, which people are taking way too seriously. Now that video games are mainstream, it seems gamers now read like the mainstream and fear like the mainstream and love sensationalism just like the mainstream. How creating moral panic over "Hatred" the video game is any different than the disporportionate Ebola coverage currently rousing the fearful public is beyond me.

And whether people like to admit it or not, yes, there is a market out there consisting of entitled, frustrated masculinity spitting venom that "political correctness" forces them to act like decent human beings and utter phrases like; "I'm not racist, but..." ironically oblivious to their obvious racial contemp. Can't blame a game company for recognizing human folly and exploiting it.

Oh my god, can I get that voice actor hired personally??

"I've watched The Crow seventeen thousand times."
"My life has been a blurred miasma of Faces of Death and slim jims."
"The plural is just 'anime,' Mom."

So basically they made a shitty generic game with nothing going for it and are hoping to sell off controversy. I think everyone should just forget about it, ignore it and hope the developers come up with something better to spend time.

Looks okay. It will be interesting to see how much controversy it will get on release. Seeing as people already show their disgust for it.

Everyone is Jack Thompson these days.

Edit:
*Ahem* I mean - What a maroon!

I hope so too, but that's not likely. I would write it off as bad humor if the deaths were depicted in a more comedic way. But it's actually kind of sick.

Jesus, the game looks vile. Like, this is exactly what experts tell TV stations to not portray mass-murderers as, to avoid copy-cats. And the evil nature of the character isn't even conveyed in a remotely interesting way, mechanics of visuals-wise. :\

Vile is the correct word to describe this, yes. There's really nothing about it that can be successfully defended, other than the fact that people have the right to make any kind of game they want. But I'm really interested in seeing people try to defend this and call everyone who dislikes it a SJW or something equally dumb. Because, of course there's always someone. But no, the game looks irredeemable. It actually is that simple for once.

The game itself might be really good, even though the gameplay shown looks like media bait. But... seriously that monologue was Poe's Law level to me.

This is how I feel about the game too, but instead I could hear Bodies by Drowning Pool instead.

To be honest I actually like the idea, despite not being fresh. A character that just wants everything to die isn't an inherently terrible idea to me.

In fact, Kerghan from Arcanum I thought was a decent character and his main motivation was also "everything must die". So I know it can be implemented well, WITHOUT sounding like a 14-year-old.

Ugh no, that's not what this game does. Experts tell TV stations not to keep talking about everything a specific killer did and said because other nutjobs would want to get their "message" out there this way. Meanwhile the news networks continue to ignore the experts and sacrifice lives for ratings.

This game is just dumb fucked up entertainment and it knows it. Please stop Jack Thompsoning at every chance you get, the supposedly moral news networks are a thousand times more destructive for society than the worst videogame out there, and not just for this reason.

You can say a lot of things about this game but calling it generic really isnt one of them. It is very similar to the original Postal and that one is still one of a kind.
And personally the gameplay shown actually didnt look shitty at all, would have prefered it in a different setting and context though. Still, the original Postal did this concept right, from the trailer this one seems to miss an actual reason to exist other then being someones shitty fantasy but it may suprise us.
