To be honest?I?ve kind of gotten bored of his comedy now. In the beginning, I found his game ?reviews? a riot, but now, the only videos I really watch on The Escapist are MovieBob?s. Every now and then, I might watch a ZP episode if I?ve got nothing else to do, or if it?s a game that I like and/or I?m interested in seeing his opinion on it, but mostly I?m just like ?meh?.

What would make it somewhat fresher is, ironically, if he would review more retro games, like ones on previous platforms, and really popular games like Ocarina of Time, just because I want to see how he?d try and find negatives in stuff like that.

I like Zero Punctuation but every show tends to lose its luster over time. Plus, and this is just me, his snarky attitude tends to get irritating at times. It's perhaps why I enjoy shows like Jimquisition and The Big Picture since it offers more intellectual weight to its arguments. I'd certainly like to see him do more retro reviews like Resident Evil 4. I've been watching some game play footage of it on YouTube and I'm enjoying how the game looks so far.

I don't play enough games to really get much out of the reviews in ZP. And the games I do play I tend to wait at least a year to buy - as an example, I just bought Bioshock 1 and 2 in a "Game of the Year" set, with most of the DLC for both games, for a paltry $30 cdn. I'm not going to get Bioshock: Infinite for at least a year, so his review for the game isn't that useful for me.

As for the humour, it's not amusing me as much as it used to. Now it just seems to be attempts to just insult everyone associated with the games and say "This is shit, the people who made this are shit, the people who buy this game for fun are shit, I'm only reviewing this because it's my job (which when I'm forced to review this sort of shit, is a shitty job), it's all the same shit, shit." Looking at his show with Jim really highlights the limit of his humour - where Jim is rather witty and creative, Yahtzee is... far more cruel. Jim is the metaphorical class clown, Yahtzee is the metaphorical class bully.

So maybe it's just that long time watchers (like myself - I'm one of the many people who first came to the Escapist to watch ZP, and now stay for things like the Jimquisition and The Big Picture.) are getting tired of Yahtzee's shtick. There are more than enough new people to keep the audience going at the current levels (as people have noted, many on other sites) so his humour has the same size of audience, just that the audience is evolving.

No, this isn't some flame thread or a blind rant about hating Yatzee or ZP, I love them both.

I have just finished a ZP marathon, starting at the first episode (yes including the youtube ones) and watching every episode until the latest. One thing really stood out, the comment numbers.

For earlier episodes he was averaging around 200 comments on each video, in the middle up in the dizzying heights or around 400 per episode, now it's barely 100.

So what happened, did people get bored of ZP? Did people keep watching but not commenting? Did the people stupid enough to post in the first 8 comments well before they could have possibly watch the video finally run out against the banhammer?

Also once again not a hate thread, nor a petrol dowsed thread ready for the spark that creates the flame war.
To get bored, for me, would imply that I was at one point interested. I wasn't. I listened to one of his articles and got tired of his schtick pretty quickly. Some people like(d) him; I did not.

But to your general question, if the trend shows diminished commentary then that would imply a loss of interest. If people's attention to his show were still high, then you would see higher numbers.

I still anticipate wednesday's just to see what game he's reviewing this time, but admittedly I don't watch it straight away unless it's a title I recognise. But I'll always go back and watch them all at some point.

He still does the odd review that has me laughing out loud - the first partially-recent one that comes to mind is his Fifa 13 "review" ;) I think they're always at the very least worth watching.

I'd say it's still admirable that Yahtzee can still keep things fresh after all these years. Personally, the novelty has worn off for me and I've burnt out over having watched every review since his beginnings on youtube. That's not to say that he doesn't always manage to put a smile on my face, but I suspect someone that hasn't been exposed to his material before, will find it more hilarious.

It's not that ZP is getting old so much as we expect it. When I first watched ZP a part of the humour was I was not epexcting where he would go.

Also I can't be bothered to checdk every video but the way you worded the line about how the older videos had more comments didn't really mention the 6 year time differential for people to comment. If you took this into acount them my apolgies.

No.
What I am growing bored of are these threads popping up every month or so.
Could not agree more.

Whether you find Yahtzee stale or not is totally subjective, so these threads are just a bunch of people saying "yes" and a bunch more saying "no" without any real consensus.

Only two things that matter to me usually on Wednesdays: Yahtzee Zero Punctuation video and my WoW raid "loot day".

I still watch it, I like it alot. What he says is true, and his style is what makes it for me. So yes, I still watch it.

I still enjoy ZP as a weekly thing, it does make me laugh on occasion, but it's his visuals that keep me coming back.
Those little cartoon figures he uses can be put to great effect sometimes.

Rhymedown Spectacular proves that Yahtzee is a talented man with a great insight, and I tend to watch all of his and Jim's things.

3 years ago i saw a post along the same lines as this "is he losing his edge?, is he as fun as ever?, are the masses getting bored of his persona, and then i did agree a bit but now i love the show, i look forward to wednesday so i can watch it and read extra punctuation cause he makes quite valid bullet points while still making over the top jokes and his slightly more serious writing.

i will however admit the novelty of an fast talking cynic hasn't that mirror shine it used to but i still find the content he presents is good and the satirical way does provide some color....he just haven't started flame wars in quite awhile

I like his videos. Some are funnier than others, as always. Never check the comment section so I don't know how "popular" they remain.
