Have you ever been "disciplined" by your parents?

AKA, have you ever gotten your ass beat by your mother or father (or anyone else)? Do have a good beating story that you would like to share?

And for all the parents out there: If you don't already: Will you ever discipline your kids if they fall out of line?

As for me: The beating that sticks out in my mind was when I was like 12. I was doing math homework, and I was having a hard time doing it. So... i think i was getting a little fussy, and my mom gets mad. So she grabs a belt and gives the whole "i'll give you something to cry about" threats. But i don't give in. So she retaliates, striking me with metal belt buckle. the buckle connects at full velocity.

At this point, imagine the boxing game Fight Night. You know how when they show the highlights, they show one unlucky bastard getting knocked out, all the contents of his face practically shifting to one side? Well, in this case, i'm the unlucky bastard. Like, I got hit so hard, my head cocks entirely to the side, spit flying out my mouth and everything. Eventually, I get up, in hopes to get away. But that's all I remember from that. Next thing I do remember was waking up in my bed. Apparently, she hit me so hard, I blacked out when I tried to distance myself from her.

So. That's my story. What do you have to share?

As for me, I've never been punished by my parents in any way.

My parents are immigrants. So hell yes. I got my ass beat a lot. But to be honest, I deserved it most of the time. Thats not to say my parents were abusive or anything, and I think I turned out better for it

When I was a kid my parents used to slap me if I ever did anything wrong. It's how they were raised and they turned out fine. It's how me and my brother have been raised, and we've turned out fine. Never punching or anything like that, but slapping us on the arm or legs or whatever, or round by the ears, and I see that as fine. If you're literally punching your kids or whatever then there's a major problem. Simply slapping your kids is fine.

Personally, I don't give a shit what the NSPCC says either. When I have kids then, provided my future girlfriend/wife is fine with it, I'll slap my kids if they do anything wrong. And treat them if they're good, or do well in school, or whatever. If the UK legal system has a problem with that then fuck the law. I'll raise my kids how I was raised, and be proud that I'm not going to end up raising chavs or thugs, but well mannered and respectable children.

I have no problem with parents spanking their kids or the occasional smack on the head. Problem is the parents that do it to take out their frustrations on their kids, instead of using it as a disciplinary tool

As for me, no, I've never been beaten by my parents. I was a pretty good kid. And I'll never beat my kids, either.

I got smacked upside the head once or twice by my dad, but I pretty much deserved that and it was always one smack and that was it. But seriosuly that was like one or two times, since I was a pretty good kid and my dad is fairly even tempered. It never went to the extreme you're talking about. Also I'm pretty sure you can count that as child abuse and get some help if the situation repeats itself.

Yep. Everytime my rude ass got out of hand with my neighborhood or with my teachers, my folks would bring down the whupping.

...and I thank them for it everyday. Without that discipline I probably would be serving a jail sentence by now.

No. My parents disciplined me but in a less sever way. I was spanked and given time outs and subject to less ever force. I can't remember any particular incidents but I remember them not boeing that bad (from my current perspective, they were terrifying back then). They definitely made me obey my parents, but I think who I am comes from more then just discipline.

As for my kids, I intend to use as little force as necessary, but my children will respect me. If learn to fear you to fear/respect you then a crooked eye look can be as bad as a beating.
