Eons ago, in the PS1 era, I went down to my local EB Games (at that time, not owned by Gamestop), and was going to buy a game. I didn't know what, but I had some money and I was gonna get me a game. :) It was between this game with an interesting anime character on the cover made by my favorite rpg company, Squaresoft, and this bleak looking black and white cover of a game I'd never even heard of.

The anime dude had my favor, but I remember saying, "I'm not really in the mood for an rpg." At the time, I don't believe there was a distinction of "J"RPG. I asked the EB employee about the bleak looking game. The cover didn't do anything for me, but the back side had this line... something about terror and fear. I was already hooked on Resident Evil, and EB employee said this game was really good. I took a gamble and bought this unknown.

Ever since, I've loved the [em][strong]Silent Hill[/strong][/em] series. Recent installments, maybe not so much. But back then? I replayed the hell out of the game. I did later go back for the anime looking dude. Little known title... Xenogears. :)

Fable:The Lost Chapters and Sid Meier's Pirates for Xbox.I had never really had any plans to get an Xbox(my buddy gave me his when he bought a 360 on launch day)so I knew very little about Xbox games apart from the big ones like Halo.Picked the 2 of them up because they were pretty cheap and they turned out to be great games.I still play them from time to time

Custom Robo on the Gamecube. They need to make another one on the wii or something, because that and the DS one are great.

Metropolismania on the PS2. It is a fun city builder. At first I hated it, now I love it.

Though It was a rental first, Amazing Island on the Gamecube. It is one of the funnest monster making games I have played.

Super Smash Bros. The N64 one.

I had no idea what it was about, but it had pokemon and mario, so it couldn't be bad.

And holy shit I was blown away.

Also GTA: Vice City. Same thing, cover didn't tell much... I heard the name somewhere else but didn't exactly know what was all the fuzz about.

And holy shti I was blown away, again.

Fable TLC. and it was AMAZING! such a great experience. Oblivion too, got that one as a gift. Now 100 hours of game time later it's safe to say I enjoyed it.

I bought dark messiah of might and magic off steam, and Im having a lot of fun with it. Which is odd because all reviews everywhere claim that its quite bad.

BioShock was an impulse buy, but man, it was worth WAY more than that. It was one of the best gameplay experiences I ever had, with one of the most memorable storylines, awesome gameplay, and all in all just a kickass game.

I picked up the Total Annihilation Commander edition (Game, expansions and a stratagy guide) for $3 in a bargin bin. It had a giant robot on it so I picked it up.

Honestly the best money I ever spent on a video game.

Fallout 3. I knew next-to-nothing about the series until I got Fallout 3, and loved it. It's still one of my top games of all time.

Red Faction: Guerrilla

This was the first game I played in the series, and I loved it. The original Red Faction is also fantastic, but this one surprised me more; I just bought it to have something new to play.

Ha, I actually remember that game, found it in the bargain bin.

However, for me, that game was Rogue Galaxy on the ps2.

Afraid I can't say I've never known nothing about a game. That'd be a bit silly. Like picking up a book off a shelf in a bookstore and buying it without reading the back or the first few pages. It might be horrible.

Mass Effect. I knew next to nothing about the game, but now I'm in love with the series and I cannot wait for 3! What a good impulse that was. :)
