Have you ever felt cheated after you bought/rented a game?

Prince of Persia (the new one).

Well, not really because I only rented the game instead of buying it, but I did beat over 75% of the game in a day. I beat the whole game, so I'm glad I only rented it. If I had bought it, that would have been a different story because $60 for a game that I could have beaten in a day? No thank you.

This is not specifically on topic, but I prevented someone from being cheated. I was in a local games store which had ripped me off more than once over the years around the time GTA3 came out. A woman was there with her kid who was like 16 or something. Anyway, the guy at the store was telling her that he had it on good authority the game would be banned in Canada and his copy for $120 was a great deal.

I casually mentioned to them that I was just in Zellers (local department store for non-Canadians) where it was on sale for $70. They thanked me and left and the dude at the counter gave me the death stare. Karma sucks buddy, I thought.

P.S. Of course I'm not saying GTA3 was a bad game. However, that's just way too much money to pay.

FF12, liked the battle system. Still do. Now have urge to kill Vaan every time I see a japanese male that looks remotely similar. Plot was utter shit only because of him and the fact that he was the lamest fucking main ever. Wouldn't have felt cheated if battle system sucked and other characters were as horrendous.

i take it you were like me then and only used Vaan only when you desperatly needed to?

Vaan level 30
the others: level 60+

the most recent one would have to be red alert 3 brought it back to the shop one of the few games I've returned actually.

Empire total war, loved the game and the naval combat is cool and the computer is very capeable of destroying you. What pissed me off was buying the box set, with the discs that were effectively useless as I then had to download the whole thing from steam, whose servers were then incapable of dealing with the ammount of people downloading from them. Bought it and was able to play it 12... 12 hours later because of numerous crashes... needles to say was rather annoying.

I loved Tiger Woods 08 for the Wii, so when 09 All Play came out I couldn't wait. What an utter disappointment, it is still the only game I have ever taken back to the shop the next day in disgust.

I am recently very underwhelmed with Empire: Total War, but so far I haven't decided whether I actually dislike it or not. Time will tell, but it's nowhere near as good as Rome.

Call of Duty 4. I expected so much from that game and got so little. Similar story with GTAIV.

Really?!?! COD4, not WaW? That's simply stunned me, I thought the game was pure awesome from start to finish. It's still the best fps I've ever played.

Fallout 3 in a way. I rented the game for 12 days from Blockbuster and not only was I able to beat the game and then some, I also was able to get like half of the achievements.

'As much content as Oblivion' my ass. I pretty much completed the whole darn game in less than 12 days, so I'm profoundly thankful I didn't end up buying it first. It's still a good game though.

Oh aaaaand i cant believe I didnt have this in my first post. Assasins creed was an EPIC FAIL, it has absolutly sod all to do with assasinations, making you wade through hordes of guys that have the exact same climbing, jumping abilities as you do. I mean fuck off like, if the game was a person I'd have called them a shrink, as they'd be confused and wouldnt know who they were, or what they were supposed to be doing.

The story aswell, trying to unlock some1's genetic memories O.O WTF!!! dont doo that, I honestly thought the first time I saw that person in the shop put the wrong disc into bag. Didnt bring the game back to, and I'm kinda wondering why I didnt.

Two things spring to mind.

2.Empire: Total War

The jury (if you will) is still out on this one, but if a patch fixing all the problems I've had doesn't arrive soon, I'm going to have to kill someone. When I bought Total War, I was kind of expecting to be able to play it, rather than it fucking up halfway through the loading screen and cutting out eight times out of ten ever since I used steam *shakes fist at steam* to get the extra units that were supposed to come with the version I bought.
I'll say this now, I don't like the idea of having to use steam for my games. I like the Internet, really I do, it's brought me some great things, and was a fantastic help during my awkward, pimply and sex crazed teenage years. But I'd much prefer to have a more, manual way of playing and maintaining my games than having some powerful Internet conglomerate keeping hold of it for me. Despite the fact that I am a 360 gamer (Oh ho!), I would prefer to have a more reliable and stable way of playing my own games.
That said, if the patch comes through fast enough, maybe I wont kill anyone. Maybe.

That game is "El Resource Hog De Magnifico" - are you sure it'ssteam that's the problem? Not your RAM or something? Are you on Vista btw?

Killzone 2,

One would think that a metacritic score of 91 would yeild something better than a lackluster FPS with pretty graphics and some okay set pieces. I guess it's mostly the terrible story though, it's just... so... bad...

I've been lucky, the local EB is soooooo generous with game returns.
I've gotten a game, returned it within a week and swapped for another game, returned that in for a preorder, canceled the preorder and used the credit for another game which I then returned and got a final game I was happy with.
I felt bad for doing it but money was tight and I just was never going to play those games after the second or third day of giving it a chance. If it were only a $20 game or something i'd have no real problem keeping it, but for $100 I could get a couple of lap dances.

Spore would have to have been my biggest dissapointment which I managed to return.
There wasn't really any fuss from the guy behind the counter, he said something like "hmm, i'm not sure if we can refund this because of it's online component...oh well, we'll just send it back as a defect" XD

You're lucky, I bought online and they wouldn't take it back because it's not defective. I fell for all the hype surrounding that game, played it a few times and never started it up again.

Superman Returns. But buying that game in the first place was my own damn fault.
Haha that game was one of the worst pieces of shit I've ever played... thank God i only played a mate's copy.

This thread brings to mind a thought that I often have, that games is one medium where reviews are a good thing because they can tell you if the item you're buying has faulty mechanics.

Mass effect springs to mind, I had 15 hours of gameplay until the end, although the combat did work, it was becoming boring when I had a AK2500 then combat just became a spray and pray for more dudes to murder. And there is not enough combat, I bought the game to kill some guyes with awesome mind powers and big guns, not to drive around in some shitty car.

Hired out L4D on 360 when I have it on PC.... dear god the framerate and detail was terrible on 360. I felt embarrassed trying to show it off to my 360 fanboy friends since they havent played it.
....we must be playing two different games, the 360 version looks great and never slows down.
I love L4D for the xbox but on occation it does tend to chug a lil. Normally seems to happen when we get to close to a witch when she spawns in certain locations "like inside the train car on NM2" wierd but u just learn to deal with it :) it does look great tho.
