Neverwinter nights 2 don't know a thing about d&d or how its based nor did i have the time/intrest to learn rolled a sorcerer or something and it took me 24 some hours into the game before i even realised how to reset spells, had awful stats and abilities and worthless spells was pretty much carried by the AI teammates.

He looked much better in the character creation screen.
I screw up my Oblivion characters a lot too, it's really hard to balance Blade, Bow, and Illusion magic sometimes. Oftentimes I end up with super-powered archery and a pathetic strength stat, so the blade becomes obselete. I eventually found a way to balance them though.

I'm actually the opposite for most cases. I twink the hell out of my characters. In Fallout 3 I have a literally perfect character, and in WoD Vampire, my guy is amazingly combat rigged. He's a Mekhet, and with the use of Celerity, he has a defence of 8 normally. When dodging, this moves to 16. Problem is, he's rather squishy when you hit him. He does very high damage though with a machete. My friend is the opposite though. He plays the definition of a tank. His health bar is completely full, and he deals aggravated damage with his claws. We joke that our characters had an amazing fight when they met, with mine (Madcap), and his (Alex), going head to head. Alex kept missing all of his slashes at Madcap, while Madcap kept slicing into him but couldn't drop him. In the end, Madcap was missing a large part of his right foot, and had a large claw marked slashed into his chest, and Alex was missing several bits of his body, including the bottom half of his jaw. We called it a draw.

First was Oblivion, I had this grand dream of a spellsword (warrior that uses magic to augment himself to become badass), needless to say that fell through as the heavy armor, and even the light butchered his magic potential.

Second was a temple knight I made in Demon's Souls. I didn't understand the game at all, so I picked the temple knight because he started with a fucking halberd. I then proceeded to ignore his magic side and poorly allocate his stat points, until I stumbled upon my first faith weapon, at which point I go pissed and went to get more faith point, and I died so many times, I broke all my equipment and lost all my soul points, so I was dead in the water.

This is why my first character in everything is a jack of all trades.(the one exception was oblivion where.....oh geez I even had Sheogorath looking confused.) It gives me a good feel of the game. That's how I learned to allocate every single stat into Faith in Demon's Souls. God's wrath will kill anyone and anything in one hit once you hit 90 or so faith, and you can just buff yourself when lacking in other areas.
But yeah, my most awesome gimped character turned out godly. In Oblivion I made a kat person who specialized in Alchemy as his main skill and light armor and other equally useless skills. My god, I never realized how powerful poisons were. I made a paralyzing potion and tipped my bow in it, the poor bastard couldn't move for almost two minutes.

I replayed ME2 with an Adept without using any powers [just for fun] and ammo sure is scarse with that class.

Both my guys on Oblivion and Morrowind were gimped the first time I played, I totally forgot about the world leveling with you and just couldn't win in any fights after a certain point.

What I mean is: Have you ever, in an RPG, table-top or computer, unintentionally screwed up your character through bad leveling.

For me, I was just playing Dragon Age again after a long hiatus, when I realized that my character was really awful. He was a rogue, but he was way to squishy to fight in Melees, terrible at archery, and only mediocre at opening locks. I had to start over. (Luckily, I wasn't too far into the game.)

What do you if this happens to you?
Yup, first time I ever played Diablo II. I had a level 60 druid who could get beaten by level 42 paladins.

I've started over in Oblivion several times, usually due to picking a combination of stupid skills.

I also gimped myself in KotoR by picking a Soldier. I started over soon after.

I actually played in a DDO guild made of actual gimps--all leveling was determined via random roll. It certainly made the game very challenging:).

Not really, but every time I make my guy have some sweet facial hair I fuck up his stats.

It doesn't really matter though - good character < rockin' mo.

My first few characters in DnD 3.5 and once 4 came out I gimped them pretty hard, a druid tank that couldn't tank, a monk that was terrible with martial weapons and didn't use fists, lots of fun stuff.

Well I finally made a true temple knight, and I don't lose pvp anymore except to cheeky mages who get the drop on me with a firestorm, but that comes down to first strike, cause if they get caught by my blessed halberd, they're putting down their controller while they watch themselves die, faith rules.

As for Obilivion, I made a stealth character, he was so good I beat the entire arena without ever being seen, of course I was a lvl 1 because I never bothered to level up so I had 100 sneak, well above even the royal palace gaurds, so I was the shadow of death for all I needed to kill.
