I won't get angry over a review, a little annoyed depending on what they're talking about, but not angry since it's their opinion.

I will, however, get pissed off if the reviewer lies about factual things in the game.

Only if they mark it down for an absolutely asinine reason.... Lookin' at you IGN

Also if they only play the first few hours before calling it quits. That's not a review, that's a first impressions. They are not the same thing.

Reviews are subjective and I respect their opinions. However... when your review is heavily comedy-based, there can another issue. Case in point: every single time Yahzee reviews anything by Nintendo.

There are some valid criticisms in there. However, he spends about 2 minutes (of a 5 minute video, I remind you) making the SAME JOKES. "Ooooh, here's a comment on how I hate motion controls" and "Ooooh, everyone who likes Mario is just a nostalgia-blinded MORON" and "Oooooh, ANOTHER mention on how I don't like motion controls" and "Oooooh, bad graphics" and "Ooooooh, Nintendo milks their franchises and THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO DO" and "Oooooh, here's a joke about the minimal plot".

And then "Oh wait, I have to actually review this game now, don't I? Not just make the same jokes I make in every single Wii game review? Well, there's only about 2 minutes left, and I need half a minute for the credits, so here are some footnotes on things I did and didn't like. But I also need to spend 30 seconds nitpicking for comedic effect, so that's only about 60 seconds of actual criticism."

The reviews themselves are good. But with anything based in comedy, repetition is one of the worst sins you can commit. And I find it humorously ironic that Yahtzee keeps accusing Nintendo of rehashing by rehashing all his jokes about them.

Angry? No, that's pretty ridiculous. I might get a small amount of annoyance if somebody is making out something I like as objectively bad, but nothing beyond that.

Eh, not angry. Just irritated.

Gametrailers was waaaay too harsh on Sonic Colors IMO.

Oh, and don't get me started on Yatzee giving up at THE VERY FIRST CUTSCENE. I know it's his job to hate everything, but come on...The first cutscene? Which can be skipped?

Nope. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I rarely give two shits about game reviews. The only thing that matters is my own personal opinion. The only slight annoyance would be if it causes people to not purchase the game, especially if the development studio needs the money.

A lot of the Pitchfork and Robert Christgau reviews piss me off, frankly. As an example, the Pitchfork reviewer Brent DiCrescenzo gave a Steely Dan album "1.6" out of 10, but not before insulting their fans:

"you pony-tailed Jeep-drivers and terrier-walkers,"
"let me first congratulate you on figuring out how this whole "Internet" thing works"
"At work you're too embarrassed to ask the young tech guys how the "web" works."

...and then going on to criticise the album for being too much like their old material (it being ten years since their previous work). I mean honestly, a band gets criticised now for sticking to what they're good at? What?

I was literally just astounded at how this crock of shite managed to end up on a reasonably decent site. Clearly the guy has an axe to grind with the group, and wouldn't know an oboe from an elbow. Why let knuckle-draggers like that onto an otherwise decent site?

I enjoy watching Mark Kermode's radio reviews on Youtube, particularly when he gets riled up and digs into something truly awful. So I was increadibly dissapointed if not angry, when he gave positive reviews to all three of the Twilight movies. While it didn't fill me with rage, I did feel a little perplexed and it did make me want to facepalm hard. Some of Yahtzee's reviews in the past have left me rather befuddled as well.

Yes I have, but I have a good reason on this one. Metroid: Other M. Almost no reviewer got the sexism. I think it was like one mainstream reviewer that noticed(Two if you count yahtzee as mainstream, which, as popular as he is, I don't and I'm not one of his haters). That just pissed me the fuck off.

Robert Christgau annoys me because of how brief and dismissive all his reviews are (even the positive ones). It's like he only knows how to write summaries.

Yeah, if there's ever a game I think is great and the reviewer totally slaughters it that makes me pretty angry.

I don't go posting rants about it because I know people can say whatever they want. By the same token, just because other people can have opinions doesn't mean I don't reserve the right to get pissed off when everyone doesn't love my favourite game.

After reading the comments of Jim Sterling's new Battlefield 3 review I'm left baffled about why people can get angry over one small review, so I want personal stories about when you got angry about a review.

So, have you gotten angry at a review and if you have can you explain to me why?
I thought that those comments were hilarious. Plus, so many popcorn gifs!
Oh yeah it was even funnier that at one point all there was was popcorn gifs and then it exploded. Still the psychology behind this mentality is interesting.

All the god damn time.
As a frequent (read: near-constant, oh god i'm so lonely) visitor of both this site and TGWTG, I watch reviews to be entertained and informed. Unfortunately, it often becomes obviously that the reviewer has no idea what they're talking about. I can't remember what game it was, but I remember one of Yahtzee's reviews made it clear that he had NEVER PLAYED THE GAME, and instead only put together a review based on completely misleading promotional material. Spoony and Nostalgia Critic are some of the worst for this though, as 2 out of five videos will have at least one egregious example of DNDTR, and my ability to enjoy the show in reduced because i know that the joke they just made is bullshit. One good example is Spoony's FFX-2 review. Literally every "plot hole" and question he brings up is addressed and explained in the game.

Then, for less petty reasons to be angry, let's talk about moviebob. That man has finally made it to the point where i won't WATCH his stuff anymore, because I've been pissed off by his self-righteous, uninformed, idiotic, or some combination thereof videos that I can no longer enjoy his good, interesting, or funny ones. Hell, my only warning on this site came from calling moviebob a douchebag, because I was pissed off by some other rant of his.

Thankfully, on the internet it's easy to ignore the things that are unpleasant, which is what i do whenever I come across one of these instances.

Despite making good points Yahtzee for me is not a critic but an entertainer, he has to be negative so he can be funny (although I think he's loosing it a bit imo) so I never take him seriously.

Generally no, I just chalk it up to differences in opinion. They arent anymore right then I am

That said, I have gotten annoyed with reviewers when they are obviously biased because I feel if you can not give a game a fair shot (whether that means you think its good or bad) you should not be reviewing the game.

My other annoyance comes from reviewers who dont take the time to learn the mechanics of the game and mark it down because of their own incompetance. I saw this happen with a review of Alpha protocol where the video reviwer was making note about how the reticle can be over a guys head but youll miss, however he was clearly out of range for the pistol he was using (which i could tell due to the lack of the targeting reticle turning red).

I was always irked by Yhatzee's ZP review of Dead Space. Not because I'm a hardcore fan of the series (I am) but the fact that he was really grasping at things to hate, and copped out by comparing it to System Shock 2, a mediocre game far too overrated for its own good.

I left a big rant of it in the review's comment section that I don't care to repeat. Read it there if you need to. :p
