Have you ever had a crush on an anime character?

I know this might sound weird but have you ever had a crush on an anime character? Its so easy to get pulled into the characters to the point their well being ends up mattering to you even though you know they dont exist. I for one couldn't help but adore the little girl in Toradora. I wanted a girl just like her! lol. NOTE: Im not implying I want to chase after girls only like her. Its like when you were a kid and have a fictional character you wish came to life. For me it was Kirby ^_^

So dont be ashamed if you do, and just tell me who your anime crush is if you ever had one.

The thing is that all fictional characters are carefully crafted, so some appeal as 'perfect'. The desire to have a girl just like someone who is fictional isn't uncommon.

The answer is no.

At the height of my anime fandom (which ended some 5 years ago) I could ogle the visual design, I could enjoy the dialogue and appreciate the portrayal of a personality, but I never, ever forgot that these characters do not exist, have never existed and will never exist. They are the product of collaborative design and present some sort of ideal. The worst thing a peson can do to themselves is obsess over something they cannot have or expect reality to live up to those expectations.
I know some people who try to make the excuse that they have a crush on the voice actress... until they find out the voice actress is ugly, or a massive ***** in real life.

Seriously, I have friends who cannot have relationships because real life people aren't like their favourite anime characters. Get out while you still can.

Regardless of how I felt about Evangelion, I enjoyed the complexity and depth of each character but Rei is by far my favorite...

That's... depressing... oddly enough I turned out the opposite way solely because of anime. Ever since I started watching anime I've been able to accept people just the way they are, in fact I'd say it's made me a better person all around. Odd how that is...

lol No. Its about enjoying the show and letting it pull you in. You dont have to give up real life for it, its just like any movie or show.

Yeah, that really sounds like a problem with your friends, more than a problem with having a crush on a character. Just like how not everyone who plays WoW ends up dying from not taking a piss because they're so into whatever they're doing.
