Uh.... I'm sorry but... how exactly? o_O

Easily the best part of Nier was the music. Even people who hated the game loved the music. >.>
In fact, that was something the creator addressed before. Said something about how he thought it was funny that people liked the soundtrack more than the actual game.
Seriously, I loved Nier's music...how-why-I don't even...

Anyway, back on topic. Nah, I never had to turn off a game's music. I stick through it.

ANYWAY, on topic, a recent game I bought, Ar Tonelico Qoga, has some of the most annoying and awful music I've ever heard in a game before. May just be that I'm 2 hours in, but the opening music and voice acting is awful that I just had to turn it off for at least a while.

Really? i actually like the gameplay , but the 5 seconds music loop gets on my nerves so bad, maybe its just me , but it litterally gets me angry, usually in a game i would NOT notice the music OR i will find myself only noticing it when its really good ( like in any SMT game) but in this i noticed it because i found it annoying.

GT5, before I found out you can play the music off of the ps3.

FFVII, levelling up for hours at a time to take on Emerald/making master materia. I love that game, but damn that got annoying.

The second prince of persia.

Haze.

Those are the only 2.

I can't stand that hardcore rock screamo whatever genre it is called music, and when it pops out in a game, I inmediately turn it off.

On the other hand, there's games that I've had to replay simply because the music was so awesome, it pulled me towards a second or third replay. This includes:

Fallout 3
Metal Gear Solid 4 (If you don't feel the urge to salute while the main theme is playing, you have some issues...)
GTA:San Andreas

and a few others I can't remember rite now.

The Minecraft music. It's not that it's bad, per se, but it just starts up randomly, which can get annoying, especially if you're making a Minecraft video. I usually mute the music and play Pandora instead.

I remember muting God of War 2 and Warrior Within but it was not the music it was because of how bad the combat dialogue was.

as for music it was the Pokemon games

Well, after realising SoT was by far the best one, they clearly tried to copy everything about the game, only they missed the very best thing about it and couldn't capture the rest of it very well at all.

Possibly the most cynical game I've ever played.
Is it even worth a rental? It does sound a bit lacking.
If you're very bored, don't have a copy of SoT lying about, and really have an itch to scratch. Other than that, not really.

Warrior Within.

Whoever made it should be shot, whoever thought of putting it in the game should be shot, whoever liked it should be shot, and whoever prefers WW to the Sands of Time should be shot.

And whoever thought the Prince should go goth should be shot.
get your gun its dualing time

well i liked the music but do agree with you about the Prince going goth. Also the comabat was better in WW than Sands of Time

I never play minecraft with the music on. It's not bad music, I just don't think it suits the game.

And like everyone else, I turned the sound off when a pokémon was at red health in all the games up to platinum. The black and white low health themes then suddenly started to kick arse.

I turn the music and sound down when recording "Let's Plays" or doing commentary so it doesn't drown me out but other than wanting to listen to my own music, on the very rare occasion I might add I much prefer soundtracks designed to go with games rather than my own, I have never muted a game because the music was bad.

I only mute Pokemon games because people get whiny when you play it out loud in a train or whatever.

I would have to say borderlands. The music in it was pretty terrible and on top of that all the stupid loud npcs yelling at me. It was easier to just mute the tv and put something good on. Oh ya and nearly every single final fantasy game I have played.

Don't play Forgotten Sands. As for WW, I get the feeling the Dahaka was only invented after they decided to start cutting their own wrists. The Sands of Time was not a happy game, it just didn't need grunge music and grimy environments to pull it off.
Is the game that bad?

Strange because I thought the forgotten sands was actually alot better then sands of time. It fixed a lot of things that were wrong with it and was still interesting.
The only real issue with SoT was the combat, and all they did was make it equally shit but in a different way.

Even the basics of the platforming were worse because the controls were so sticky.

Locoroco and every single Katamari. And the indie wonder Black Shades, except that it won't launch with the music turned off :I

E: And yeah, Warrior Within had no atmosphere, but it kinda grew on me a bit. I almost enjoyed the music from time to time.

Im currently playing through NIER , and its the first time in my 20+ years of gaming that i HAD to turn off the in game music because it's so terrible. Has this every happened to you? and if so, which game did you have to do this just to make it playable?
Anything that I replay, I cut the sound and try to find some external music, video, background noice. I've even been doing it through My first playthrough of Dragon Age Origin that I haven't picked up in while... I'm still in that elven forest. By now, the Blight most be roaming free and conquered the world twice. Meh, it can wait a bit longer :p

What I've been listening lately, since I'm a Dm part of the escapist Online RP group, Is listening to the Wyrmwick Campaign on LordKaT.com

In a few instances, but only because I was getting frustrated and I needed to concentrate.
Good example would be at a certain part on Bulletstorm which is harder than a ************ on the harder difficulties. So after my 50th death, I had to mute the TV because I was sick of the music and repeated grumbly VAs coming from the enemies. It does help when you're on the verge of raging.
Oh and CatMario. Because CatMario.
