Have you ever met one of those kind of peoples that, for example, play Guitar Hero and think that they can be real guitarists just like that? This is not to insult those kind of people, I'm just curious if anyone's ever met that kind of person, and in that case, how'd he/she reply to the whole thing. I haven't yet, but If I did, I'd give them my guitar and I'd say: "Go ahead, play Cliffs of Dover since you know it so well."

oh yea those guys, I meet them all the time. you can easily tell them by their body language, for instance the ones I commonly come into contact with serve me my burger and milkshake before I go to sit down and laugh about how depressing it must be to work in a fast food joint.

I'm one of those people who thinks that playing guitar makes me better at guitar hero. Does that count?

I have found that musicians and musically inclined people actually tend to be slightly better at rhythm/music-based games like Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and DDR than someone who is not.

So I guess in some ways it can work in the other direction.

i knew a girl who's bf was a car tuner. it was cool at first until all of a sudden one day she thought that she was an expert on cars and told me that 550 horse power isnt jack shit. I just simply told her to look up what kind of cars have 550 horse power and then come talk to me. we havent talked since

I was that person too until I tried it and utterly failed...

It's like trying to un-learn everything you know about playing guitar!

There are people like that of course, however, luckily I've not had the misfortune of meeting one. However being a good guitarist/bassist won't necessarily make you a better Guitar Hero player. Slash has said in interviews that his kids beat him at it.

I've met a lot of people who've played Tony Hawk's or Dave Mirra games and think they can instantly ride skate/bmx like a pro. More often than not equipped with some department store p/o/s and no pads.

Occasionally I drive them to the hospital, usually suffering some kind of fracture and intense ear ache from the berrating I've given them on the way...

Well, not necessarily for Guitar Hero, but my younger brother thinks that he's the toughest thing out there because he plays Halo 3 and CoD4. He fully thinks that he's able to take on any one and anything, even though he's kind of mediocre at the games and he screams and cries like a ***** if you so much as say he's a dumbass though.

Its more like learning a new instrument, and already being used to fretting with each and everyone of your fingers and forming chords quickly.

Gogo guitar skills away!

I play on expert by the way, and I'm not trying to brag or anything but I'm rather good at it.

It actually can help a little. It doesn't help you directly, but your right hand gets stronger so you can handle fast strumming longer. But you still have to practice.
