im a guitarist and bassist and personally i find a session of guitar hero helps as a good exercise to warm up my 'fret fingers' so there is a benefit.

not that big of one but it still serves as a fun warm up :)

oh yea those guys, I meet them all the time. you can easily tell them by their body language, for instance the ones I commonly come into contact with serve me my burger and milkshake before I go to sit down and laugh about how depressing it must be to work in a fast food joint.
Yeah, and he can go in the back and laugh about how you're eating his spit and paying him for it.
who's the one wearing the macdonalds branded belt buckle? seriously they have to wear those I've checked.

a friend once told me he was better at guitar than i was because he can thrash guitar hero on a high difficulty ... next day i brought my guitar, amp and a few pedals down and schooled him with metal riffs .. after a whole day, just when he thought he could pull off an easy metal riff (basically "mute, bar, release, bar, slide, repeat) i pulled off one of the most complex flamenco riffs i know ..... the look on his face was priceless

he doesn't even play guitar hero around me anymore XD

How about someone who plays Dead Rising/Left 4 Dead, and thinks they'd be awesome in a zombie apocolypse.

Dicks.
Yep, especially since you can't prove them wrong by bringing out a guitar.

I had a friend, we were about 13, who would always say "i'd be so good in a zombie apocalypse, i'd use a double-barrel shotgun"
You should have replied: "That's it?", or "That's a fu***** bad idea". Just to see what he had to say. Then hand him the Zombie Survival Guide.

I'm one of those people who thinks that playing guitar makes me better at guitar hero. Does that count?
Thats not true. I can't play GH for shit.
Indeed. Slash sucks at Guitar Hero.
I really do. (I know you're talking about Slash and not me.)
I play guitar but I'm horrible at Guitar Hero, I don't even want to learn it because the songs in my opinion are bad.
And to answer the question, no. I've never meet anyone like that.

Only once:

I was at a friend's house, and I was still new to Guitar Hero, and during my repeated failures he started making remarks about my actual guitar skills. Big mistake. The song just so happened to be Shout At The Devil.

I went into my car, grabbed my (now dead) B.C. Rich "Beast" and amp, walked back into his house, played Shout from beginning to end, whipped out a $20 and said "I fucking dare you to try that with a real six-stringer."

Needless to say, he never made remarks like that again.

Now I'm just hoping for the day he says something about Rock Band drums, so I have an excuse to drag my Pearl kit to his house.

Have you ever met one of those kind of peoples that, for example, play Guitar Hero and think that they can be real guitarists just like that? This is not to insult those kind of people, I'm just curious if anyone's ever met that kind of person, and in that case, how'd he/she reply to the whole thing. I haven't yet, but If I did, I'd give them my guitar and I'd say: "Go ahead, play Cliffs of Dover since you know it so well."
I'll one-up you and say I've met someone who thinks that they are a guitarist because he plays Guitar Hero.

No, they are real, my younger cousin thinks he can play drums amazingly, because he can play it on expert on Rock Band.

They do exist, one is my roommate. He thinks he is a guitar god because he can play songs without looking at the screen. sad really.

This is why I hate guitar hero.

I think people should learn to play real instruments rather than that bullshit and act like its the greatest accomplishment of their lives.
Oh god please tell me you are fucking kidding.

"I think people should stop playing WWII games and go fight in a real war."
That is what you sound like.
Please tell me you are kidding.
Please.
Of course he isn't. You know that. I know that. He knows that.

Also, I'm one of the guys with a group of mates who believe that because they can play Call of Duty 4, they know how to strip, clean and operate an M-16. During one of our routine "what would you use in a zombie apocalypse", he also started telling us that he'd take a Desert Eagle, a Sniper Rifle, and M-16, a Shotgun and a snub-nosed Uzi. I didn't have the heart to tell him he knows nothing about these things outside of games, wouldn't be able to find them anyway, and may be better served with some tools and a decent car.
