Have you ever played sequels before their predecessors?

Just from my current games library:

Half-Life 2 - haven't even played ANY of the original Half-Life
Saint's Row 2 - not played Saint's Row
Mafia 2 - same
Fable 2 and 3 - started playing Fable 1 ONLY after finishing 3
Fallout New Vegas
Grand Theft Auto 4

Metal Gear Solid 3 - Rented it when my friend harped on about the series. turns out he ddnt like this one, though tis personally my favourite. Its a prequel anyway so meh. Ive also played MGS2 and 4. Tried to play twin snakes but the emulators dont work. NOo im not apologizing for that. Cant find a damn PAL copy anywhere.

Final Fantasy X wasnt the first one I played, but its the first one I owned

Starcraft II - bouyght this when my friend pestered me to. I really dont like the matches much, everyone is oo hardcore, and I dont like reading a wiki to figure out how to play it well. That said, I really like the custom maps

Metroid Prime Hunters - The only other one ive played is fusion. Fusion was good, hunters was meh

Uncharted 2, never played 1. Got Uncharted 2 with the PS3 so I didn't want to go back too 1.

Same with me. I played 1 for about an hour at my friends place. Its pretty good, but theres little things that keep tripping me up controlwise. So I gave up.

I played Gears of War 2 without ever playing or intending to play the first.
Cod4:Modern Warfare if you count that.

AW crap, my bad! supposed to be episode 2 and 1 and half life 2...my bad XD hope episode 3 gets released soon though

assassins creed 2 and I don't plan on playing 1. All I ever hear is how repetitive it is, and the story easy enough to gather from the second so apart from playing trough altairs story don't feel like ive missed much.

Ditto. And I don't believe I played the first Elder Scrolls either. I started Thief on 3 and wish I had played the others.

I played Oblivion before Morrowind. But I still think that Morrowind is better....

That's how it went for me.

I also played God of War II before the first one, Halo 3 before 2, which was before 1, and I haven't played Gears of War 1 at all.

I've played Half life 2 but never the first.
