Have you ever pulled a sicky to play a game?

With Mass Effect 2 coming out next week, I asked my manager for the Friday off work so I could have 3 days of un-interrupted play time. Sadly, because I work in accounts, I'm not allowed to have time off on the last working day of the month so instead of playing it, its going to be sat on my desk tormenting me all day. One of my friends suggested that I just ring up in the morning with the flu so can't go in, but I'vealready asked for the day off so it owuld be too suspicious.

Has anyone here ever taken the day off sick (or booked holiday in advance) just so they could play a game at release? I've already booked the week FF XIII is released off work because I'm that pathetic and had no better use for a weeks holiday I'd lose if I didn't use it by the 31st March.

Yes and no.

I have called in on days I just didn't feel like working. Then sat around and played games all day. I have not called in because a specific game was released that I just had to play.

No, there is no point, I miss school then I go back the next day/few days then I need to do the work I missed at home meaning less gaming time.

Nope. I work at a hobby shop and they're pretty cool about you playing on the job as long as you are attentive enough to see when people are coming in or goin out without paying for shit. So as long as I have a decent enough Computer i'll be fine.

I've done it during school, but I had other reasons not to go in as well so it was more of a very nice perk than the main reason.

Same here. Although I still get paid for the day even though I am not there. My job gives me 7 sick days a year I can use at my discretion. As well as 2 personal holidays and 1 week of vacation time. All paid so I make out pretty good when I don't feeling like going in hehe.

Lucky. At my current job I don't get any sick time or vacation time. Illegal you say? Well not when you own the place and you pay yourself a salary.

Wait technically that means I get as much sick time and vacation time as I want. I love my job, and hate it at the same time.

I've once stayed home from school to play a game, but my mom grounded me on account of she found out I was just playing hooky, so really it wasn't worth it in the end. Can't wait till I get out of high school.

i've never called in sick to stay home and play a game but i did take the day off for when gears 2 came out... it also had to do with i had 9 days of holiday to use by the end of the year and gears 2 did come out in november...

Never done it specifically to play games, however, I have exaggerated illness when I just plain didn't feel fit to go to school but had no fever or such.
