I've been handling corpses since I was eight. You get used to it after the first time. And then you get used to the notion of death. And then you start to talk to them; and then they come alive in your arms and whisper sweet otherworldly nothings into your ears. There is the odd OHGODIT'SSONUMBMAKEITSTOP mental scar, though.

Aside from grand relatives' funerals and my baby sister's funeral and the blackened, charred bodies caused by mortar/artillery fire in Iraq, nope, can't say that I have.

I saw my grandad at his funeral. That was pretty upsetting, because my family didn't want me to see him for the years up until he died because of his alzeimers. So the next time I saw him was when he was dead...

The only time I saw a cadaver was at a wake for a friends father. It was actually kinda of a peaceful moment if anything.

I watched my mother die of cancer a couple of years ago, I was there when she died. She was in a lot of pain before that so when she died I was kind of happy that she wasn't suffering, even though it was also sad. After she died looking at the dead body didn't disturb me, I guess because I thought to myself that it's now just an empty vessel, the person I knew isn't actually in there anymore. Watching someone in extreme pain is far worse, the dead are at peace.

I think I may have seen one while walking around in the city with a few friends earlier this year. We were walking down the street where we saw a man passed out on the ground with a few paramedics checking for his pulse while an ambulance was parked waiting on the side of the road.

Not too sure if the man had died or not, but it was still sort of creepy to think about because there was a chance that he was.

Yes, my great uncle. I was young, they pulled me out of school to take us out of hospital. Everybody in the car was crying but I didn't really know what to feel. He was always happy and laughing, I never once heard him shout or get mad at anyone. To see his dead body was horrible. His skin had turned yellow because of liver problems, they had put a blanket or someone on his face before we came and it sort of squashed his nose. My family told me to say goodbye to him, I wanted to tell him so many things, but all I could manage to say was "goodbye".

I've seen a couple.

One was the victim of a stabbing in town when I was little. His corpse was right their in the street. A man tried to block my vew while telling my mum it would be best if I didn't walk down that road. I could see the corpse, felt nothing but excitement. It was out of the ordinary and totally alien to me.

Second time, saw a sat laid on the road next to his car at the scene of an accident. His corpse was in a bad way, covered in bloody, and a small pool of it around him. I felt sat for him, and went on about my business.

People I have no attachment too really don't evoke emotion from me. Animals on the other hand do, I could see a dead mouse and I'd be heartbroken for days.

yep, saw it happen.

Old lady was riding her bike across the road, Land Rover ploughed right through her. She flew over it and broke her neck. The traffic jam meant I watched it happen, watched the people panic andthe ambulance arrive and cover her up with blankets and then put her in a black zip bag.

Felt like shit the whole day.

Saw a motorcycle accident. Guy wasn't wearing a helmet. I wouldn't have even believed he was human if I hadn't seen him before.

Let's see...

There's that horrendous flood that devastated our city and therefore left the dead soaked on the side walks, so naturally I had to watch my step.(Gah fuck! It's only been six hours and now it's like this!?)

There were those people who got chopped up to pieces, put in garbage bags and left on the streets, (Hey why is that garbage bag red?)

And of course, the morgue, which smelled like old people. (Meh, just passing by, nothing to- Hey! a mentos!)
