I quit smoking, at the ripe old age of 42, heard it takes years off your life. Glad I stopped before it affected my health.
Good. I have no idea why you'd give up carbs anyways. Atkins is a crock, carbs are your standard energy source. Sans carbs, you'd have to rely on protein burn (BAD) or chemicals (WORSE).IndomitableSam said:I'd like to give up carbs - or some carbs, at least... but, sorry. My morning cereal, carb side for lunch (usually rice or potatoes), dinner, and popcorn / small plate of 8-10 nachos at night... can't.
I quit buying all junk food when I moved out of my parent's house, so I gave all that up (now I only have it when I go visit them or if I buy it once a month or so), so carbs are my vice now. Would like to cut back on them, but I find myself starving at lunch, so I tend to need it.lacktheknack said:Good. I have no idea why you'd give up carbs anyways. As you can see from just above your post I haven't been drunk and I don't drink now but it's not a choice.bobajob said:Or booze. I'm a happy drunk, me - I really can't understand why the fuck anybody would want to fight drunk(okay, so the anaesthetic effect has it's advantages but the impairment more than cancels that out, right?)

secodn question [b/]have you ever tried to give up anything? how did you feel? were you sucessful?[/b]
Second... For Dental reasons!? Are you shitting me? Having a cup of joe is one thing, but Energy Drinks fuck you up when you drink assloads of them. Maintaining a sleep schedule is one thing, but having it maintained and decided by drugs like the ones found in Energy drinks... Yikes! Good Luck, and stay away from them. It'll suck for the first while... But if you tough it out long enough, you'll feel healthier, energetic, and overjoyed.
On Topic though... I haven't really given up anything major. Probably because I've done nothing. I've taken up things that I probably should have when I was younger, and loved them... But that's about it.
I've made a new rule. If there's any social activity. Always leave the computer unless I'm sick. It's been going well.
thats interesting because I don't know if it was me but I nopticed my bones cracking alot more than beforeQuaidis said:I once had to cut down on the amount of soda I drank. It was for more than just dental reasons; caffeinated products like CocaCola and energy drinks make you piss out the calcium your body needs. So if you drink a ton of soda now, you will get some serious arthritis later in life.
The best remedy is to switch exclusively to tea with a soda or energy drink on the weekend or at a social gathering. Tea comes in a vast variety, and you can switch between caffeinated and non-caffeinated progressively to get over the headaches. You can also add a lump or two of sugar to get over that issue as well.
You will have the headaches and lousy feeling for a week or two the way you are going now. It will suck. Afterwards you will wonder why the world is so corrupted by energy products when you suddenly can think clearer and you feel great.
