Have you ever tried to make a game harder for yourself?

I sometimes play matches in MW2 with just a pistol to see how well I do. Sometimes I do pretty awesome, actually.

I played through Fable and Fable 2 naked once... Just to see if it made it harder... Kinda but the only real hard part was getting in bed with a lucky lady with all my scars.

Me and my friends do Nuzlocke runs on pokemon where faint=death and you can only catch one pokemon per area if you cock it up, deal with it

Those are the very basic rules, there are more that make it much harder but these are the rules i use, i want it to be hard, not sadistic

Edit: ninja'd, >.>

I played Doom 2 on Ultra-Violence and had myself killed at the start of every level. Then I would finish the level starting with only a Pistol, 100% health and no armour. I achieved 100% kills, items and secrets on each level. Most of them weren't so bad, however one level gave me only a chainsaw before forcing me through a room full housing about 20 monsters including imps, cacodemons and pain elementals. That took many, many attempts.

Do you mean in-game, or in real life? I'm going to assume real life. You pervert.

Played with 3 friends on L4D (one of them doesn't have L4D2 so we play L4d instead), and we thought the game was too easy. So we set up a game and made these rules.

1: Two players are restricted to melee shove, but can use grenades, pills, and medkits

2: One player cannot use tier 1 weapons, but may use pistols until they obtain tier 2 weapons. He/she cannot use pills, grenades, or medkits. He/she is also not allowed to use melee shove.

3: One player is restricted to tier 1 weapons, but may use melee shove and pills. He/she is also the only one who is allowed to use the minigun (might not effect you depending on strategy).

4: For added difficulty you can also make certain people vital to progress. One example is designating someone the official door opener, them being the only ones allowed to open doors (almost as if all the doors have locks and only one person has a sort of skeleton key), or start events. This would make them almost like a VIP, someone who if lost forces you to restart the level.

This is insanely hard, but quite fun. It's more practical on lower difficulties, but for maximum difficulty jack it up to expert.

Solo character (instead of a party of 6) insane difficulty runthrough of BG2.
Low level Chronotrigger runthrough (ended up with average level ~15 at final battle)
Max Payne 1 no bullet time hardest difficulty run.

Solo'ed BG2 on hardest difficulty with a Mage/Warrior/Thief. Surprisingly not that hard.

Here's one, Demon's Souls without upgrading anything (level or gear). You must use only what you start equipped with.
For even more of an impossibility, try it without using any items, including healing items.
