Have you ever used a "N00b" tactic

Apparently, yes, I have. I was playing about a year ago on the original Halo on PC. Surprisingly, because of the official mod kit for Halo: Combat Evolved (known as Halo Custom Edition), there exists almost a decade after release a very dedicated online community who still continue to make new maps and mods and who still play online on PC, myself included. Anyway, I was in a normal, no mods, CTF game on one of the original Halo maps (Ice Fields, I think it was). Unlike on the XBL community, the PC online community for Halo tends to be fairly well behaved and fairly civil, and I'm almost always guaranteed a good game when I play online with them. However, there are the odd few who are little foul mouthed idiots regardless. Every game has them, after all.

But I digress. In this game, I was the gunner for a run through at the enemy flag, and we were heading up a tunnel to the main bridge that connects the Red and Blue bases. On our way, this kid in a Ghost comes racing past towards our base, and we start skirmishing in our vehicles. As the gunner, I was in a Warthog that had a rocket launcher turret, so I started firing, and ended up hitting the kid dead on and killing him instantly. He then starts spamming me about how I have no skill and that I'm just using n00b tactics to cheat.

Never mind the fact that he was a fair distance away and I hit him with one shot, we were both in moving vehicles, and my driver was pulling off whatever desperate moves he could to try and avoid the plasma fire from this kid's Ghost. So aiming was pretty damn difficult anyway, and the rocket launcher usually needs to hit dead on in the older games to be able to score a direct kill (a glancing hit would have only damaged his shields). Also, I usually play as a sniper, so I'm a pretty good shot and have managed headshots on moving targets plenty of times before, so aiming was paramount for me here.

Anyway, after the kid started complaining I proceeded to hunt him down a few more times, and kill him in different ways every single time. He kept trying to find me and never even got a hit on me. In the end, after I proved that I did have skill and that he was simply a crap player, he rage-quit. Much to the amusement of everyone else, even his own teammates, who were apparently as sick and tired of him as I was... :p

I think I'm the only person in the world that attacks the teleporter entrance.
I do too, but pray tell, how do you get to the entrance if all access to the next stage area are blocked off just before Badwater's Point C chokepoint?

I've been called a noob for missing with a sniper rifle not 10 minutes ago in Reach.

On the other side of the spectrum I've been called a hacker and booted off a TF2 server for sniping.

A nice few things.

In GunZ: The Duel, I used spray weapons instead of single-action weapons, how noobish of me >_>

I've camped in some FPSs, halo, to name one.

I do occasionally do 'noobish' things but my opinion (for the most part) on the matter is that if it's a legitimate weapon or strategy then learn to beat it, rather than labeling someone for using it.

A Badwater 24/7 server for Team Fortress 2, I'm a Red Engineer, we've been pushed back to the second-last point after plenty of give and take resulting in our line receding. I brace for the worst as I build up under the balcony. I take a cursory look around the area and notice that our team is pretty successfully holding them in the basin area underneath the attic near the second Blu spawn.
So I set up a teleporter in the building on the side near the checkpoint, and move my sentry to the balcony overlooking all points of attack or entry to the bombcart and the next area, save for the stairs up to where I was.
That very-far forward defensive teleporter ensured we held the line for 11 minutes. The cart never moved.
Try pro skills. I see no way in which that is noobish.

I've gotten quite good at 6-pooling in SC2, as well as cannon rushing!

(like seriously, once you get to the high ranks that aren't quite pro, they don't expect it and don't know how to respond.)

I myself have executed a few Viking spams. It's annoying to destroy so many and have them just keep coming!
Although people have started to wise up and that tactic is weeks old now...

I have used the AWP in Counterstrike when I get fed up of the other team spamming it.
My ultimate threat to the other team was "If you keep AWPing like idiots, you'll make me buy one and rape you all"...
Nobody ever beleived me, until I grabbed one and started destroying the enemy team to the point of being banned for "hacking"...
Good times.

Ha good one, I used that line too when called a n00b by some disgruntled corpse.

I used to play Soldier of Forture II online and some servers kept a leaderboard for total kills and also broken down by each gun/grenade type. I was never going to get my name in lights unless I was willing to champion some really unpopular weapon...ie the M-60.

M-60 was a mule with a kick; first bullet in the chest, second bullet over their head and all the rest in the ceiling. Very hard to control and innaccurate. So I mastered it. I got called a n00b or a cheater just because I trained myself to handle it well. At first I just died all time (obviously: a n00b).
Then I started to treat it like a semi-auto assault-rifle and learned to avoid the kill-reload-die cycle. (Never reload-switch guns) 100 bullets...no reload (tapa tapa). It was only gun that made it possible to kill 6 guys in a row. Many players were incredulous at this and assumed I must be a cheater. A few players tried it out for themselves but no one ever used it much.

The only thing better was getting the occasional kill with my smoke greanades... even more hilarious when it was myself. The~Wind dies in a puff of smoke. = ]

There's no such thing as a noob tactic. There are tactics. Some work better than others and people better fucking deal with it.

Using the Carl Gustav on infantry in BFBC2 I hate people doing it for KD, like standing and waiting, discarding their rifles to just use that god damn fire-forget. But I was out of ammo, had killed 3 people with my rifle and needed to reload. Lo and behold 4 people were coming at me, so I switched to the Carl Gustav and blew them sky high... sue me.

I'm sure everyone has used some kind of "noob tactic" at one point or another. Then again, everyone has a different idea on what a noob tactic is in the first place. It's actually annoying how many people will consider any tactic used to kill them noob-ish.
In MW2, people in my games said I was a noob for using a sniper and a shotgun, because having weapons for both long and short distance kills somehow wasn't a fair strategy.

I only ever play COD by using throwing knives and a riot shield... I never use the knife.

Can't argue with the people I've killed with the shield though.
