Have you ever won a competition?

A couple of months ago, I won a new phone through a random competition I entered online. I'd been through a bit of a phase of entering them, and I guess it paid off. The only other thing I've ever won is a copy of the Scooby Doo film on VHS years ago, at a Christmas raffle in a village hall.

I was just wondering if any of you have ever won a prize, big or small, and what was it?

OT: Not much, just a few archery medals n trophies here and there, and about two dozen maths related certificates and medals as well... -_-

Oh yeah. Won a local Heroes of Newerth tournament a few months back. One of the highlights of my otherwise crappy year.

The prize was an Alienware keyboard. That was also the day I found out that Alienware makes keyboards... 0_0

I've won a few hockey and baseball tournaments. My most impressive win would have to be when I won a provincial 3D animation competition and then went on to place 3rd in the national competition (I should have won! grumble grumble).

I've never won any luck-based competitions though. I could lose to myself in a coin toss...

I won a regional mathematics competition in my second year of high school, practically decimated everyone else in it. I (my team) also won some debating competitions in high school as well. Haven't won anything to do with luck though my girlfriend won a cellphone off of our internet provider from some competition they had.

Two times-
I got the nearest numbers to guessing how many peas in a jar at High School. The reward of a box of sweet but I enjoyed it.

I was the winner for making this minibook on volcano in Geography class in High School (thank you Horrible Geography cook!). The reward was just a voucher to used in this shop which I used it on Popkemon Yellow.

A few years ago I won a war-gaming painting contest at my local gaming club.
I was also voted as the person who has contributed most to the club.

That's about it. Other than a couple of small wins on scratch cards.

I was king of the hill in my combatives class in Iraq. And people hated me for it. We weren't supposed to be doing full contact (Throwing punches), but by the end of it, everyone was doing everything short of shanking me to beat me.

Oh, and I got the second highest score in Tabletop Aces (A WWII air combat game), with over 80 percent of my points being accumulated through sheer survival (I wrecked over 10 aircraft, more then my entire team combined, and my pilot never died, making him the only one who lived from start to finish). Team won overall.

I'm sure there's other stuff. Can't think of it at the moment.

I won a local art competition in High School, and a few sparring tournaments.
That's about it, I don't really like competing, so I don't enter.

The most I've ever won in a luck based contest is $5 on a scratch off ticket.

I won a speed-writing MLP fanfiction competition in February (I know, right?), for which I got $100 and some fans for my efforts. I still have no idea how I managed to get 10,000 words of coherent story out in less than a week.

The only luck-based contest I can remember winning was winning a special ticket for my infant school's fete that gave me free goes on every stall (which everyone else had to pay for). That was pretty sweet.

I won several dance competitions between 2003 and now.
That being said, I was often called "the king of 2nd place", can you guess why?

The prizes were usually clothes or money (or both).
The best prize though is your opponent's facial expression right after you win. That's priceless.

I was part of a winning football team back when I was 9.
Got a medal and everything.

Oh, and I won a game from the Escapist Community Showcase [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Escapist-Community-Showcase] a while back to celebrate being up and running for a year, that was cool. Although I didn't technically "win", but whatever, I'll count it. But apart from those two, my life has been rather empty on the competition winning front.

I won for Division I at my Cross Country County meet in high school. I was also a part of the winning 4x800m relay team for my county; got a medal for both of those. I won a Mario Kart 64 tournament my freshman year of college as well; just got a $10 gift card to some fast food place.

I've won quite a few things, although none huge. Some cosplay and acting events I've won quite a bit of money, usually through competitions. I've also won multiple art and literature awards and well as publications, but they've never been huge winnings or events.
I also won a Tetris state competition in 2004! xD That was my most entertaining I suppose.

During my first year in college, the school was producing a literary magazine with some $50 for first place in 4 categories(Short Story, Essay, Poetry, Literary Critique).

I had an extremely low opinion of the writing talents in that school, seeing how most of the people in my English classes were seriously struggling or just plain didn't have any style, so I entered every category fairly confident that I'd place in every one of them. I won 1st in Critique, 1st and 2nd in Essay, and had honorable mention in poetry. Short Story didn't get published, which I was actually a bit upset about since I was damn proud of it.

I mostly did it for the bragging rights, and the fact that fours of people might read it. FOURS! Which they didn't, but hey, them's the breaks.

Don't know if it was really a competition, but I got a free copy of Serious Sam 3 for a halloween costume (though I already had it preordered at the time)
