I didn't see it in this thread, but while her music is different (and I am fond of it) from his, am I the only one thinking Marilyn Manson?
She looks like the bred Antichrist Superstar and TGAOG together for how she looks. Consistently, not just here.

But she is a big attention whore, and skinny guys don't do nuthin' for me.
Same for skinny chicks.

<_<

Also, that was a fairly raunchy video.
Just saying.

That was an impressive ode to fetish culture. I never much liked this song, but the video is stunning.

Warning, if awesome choreography and barely dressed men bother you, then this video probably won't be your style. It's probably not safe for work either, but considering how massive of a pop culture phenomenon she has become, I think it warrants discussion.

Personally, I love it. I am surprised by how political she made it (and also by the complete lack of brand advertising), but either way, I think she's going to both piss off a lot of close-minded people and make a lot of fun people happy :)
[HEADING=1]SERIOUSLY HOW SLUTTY ARE MUSIC VIDEOS TODAY[/HEADING]

Shame, damn shame,I like the song, but she barely had clothes on in the scene you know I'm mentioning, and it's immensly explicit for a second when that guy way "bringing up the rear".

This will be all over the music channels,I'm just tired of this indecency. Can't you sing with your crazy clothes on lady gaga like in bad romance?

fist and foremost, the song was boring. It was pretty much the same line over and over again. And what was it about? She didn't want to be called by Alejandro, that's it right. Was Alejandro the same person calling her in telephone? And unless she's referring to a specific Ajejandro, the political message was pretty shallow, and had no context to the song. And it's probably not smart to mention advertisements, conidering her last video had at least 9 of them.
Wait now hold on.....
There was a political message in there?

It's hard to listen to this song without thinking of Ace of Base. Something about the synth background sound makes me keep humming Don't Turn Around.

I know. I added the song to my post to make it clearer. But still, they will probably be like, "What?"

You hear it, though, right?
I hear it too. I actually listened to that song thsi alst weekedn on a road trip. Its on an old mix cd my wife made. Another great song nobody remembers. That one with the chorus that goes "Do you suffer from long term memory loss, I can't remember". I think its by chumbawumba or how ever you spell that. Both of these remind me of that song.

Actually, and I'm not particularly a fan of this genre of dance music, this was a decent video. I was digging the whole "suppressed/repressed citizens" aspect mixed with the "I want a woman who's both a nun and a whore" angle for the Alejandro character.

Bad Romance was a decent video, too.

I don't listen to her music (much...), but I always watch her videos to see how batshit she gets. Sometimes it seems to be genuinely art-y, other times it seems like she's stretching to just be "shocking" for the sake of publicity.

Oh right. Because the only way I could possibly dislike it is if I'm close-minded. Talk about ironic.

Right, couple of things:

-Still don't like the music, or or her/him.
-Laughed my ass off at the machine gun boobs. Is that supposed to be edgy? How the hell am I supposed to take her/him seriously after that?
-And now that song is stuck in my head. Thank you so very fucking much.(And don't quote me saying something along the lines of "You're welcome, it's a great song." You were planning on doing that, right? Yeah, don't.)
-Alexandro, Ferndando, and Roberto? This chick really gets around. I can not be the first one to ever make that joke.
Slut-shaming! Clever!

And so is trying to make a joke about Gaga's sex. She's a girl. Get over it.
Hey, you know what, if you didn't expect people to make a joke about her, then don't post about her on the /escapist/ of all places. Go post on her fansite or something, we're allowed our opinions here. Stop being so damn defensive, its like we're not allowed to joke about her.

anyway, I don't like its music. Its catchy but i've never been fond of everyones tendancy to use nazi's as evil people. I mean, seriously, what army have you seen that dresses up in that gear?

pfffft. She's just trying to be weird and out there.

Also, please don't call anyone who doesn't like it close minded, thats like me calling you close minded because you don't like Blue October.

Indeed, though personally I wouldn't make the connection as I wasn't about to watch a raunchy video from an artist who makes pop music that I don't like at all, as that's just asking to get something you'd really rather wasn't rattling around in your noggin stuck playing on an infinite loop whenever it would be most annoying.

And I am kicking myself right now for typing that last sentence because my brain just helpfully dredged up the Spice Girls and damn is that ever psychological torture - thanks a bunch for remembering that song we unfortunately couldn't help but overhear brain, you're the bestest!

[small]Think of symphonic metal, think of symphonic metal, think of symphonic metal...[/small] Okay I'm back in my happy place (for now), whew! All hyperbole aside[footnote]There wasn't actually any hyperbole in this post - that was a real time transcription of my thought process as I composed a response - but I've used a bloody ton of hyperbole on this subject before, so imagine me setting that aside.[/footnote], I honestly don't care whether or not anyone here listens to and/or enjoys this sort of banal pop - each to their own and all, you wouldn't catch me attending Polka-fest 2010! or whatnot but it's cool if you do.

No, my issue with annoying pop "musicians" doesn't really have anything to do with me not liking the "music" they perform - I certainly don't, but then I hate lots of stuff after all - but more with the fact that pop is so damn inescapable. I think Polka is hilarious and cannot begin to contemplate seriously listening to it for any purpose beyond mockery, but then again I'm not getting bombarded with unwanted Polka everywhere I turn. Modern pop music makes me wish I was, because at least that would be sort of funny.

...

Blast it all brain, why the hell would you decide my Polka analogy was the cue to start playing Polka? I was joking! Still better than having the Spi... you know what, I think I'm just going to quit while I'm ahead.

there wasn't. I included that because the OP was "surprised by how political she made it", and felt i should adress it. And as far as what Gaga did. She felt like dressing them up like dressing up the guys a bit like nazis, and showing War videos in the back sometimes. Totally superficial and had nothing to do with the song. It wasn't even a message.

I didn't watch it because I hate her and still don't know if she's a man or not. And, I find her to be pretty sexy so I'm just going to ignore her in case she is a he.
Jesus bloody Christ. People still believe that? Really?
gaga isn't exactly on my daily checklist. i don't care enough about her to research her sexuality.
Do you want to know with how much research I believed that she was, indeed, a female?

None.

Firstly, for the song/Lady Gaga in general; Hate it, it burns like acid and infects like herpes. I just don't get it (I'll admit). The whole thing just makes no fucking sense to me. Like a dog staring at a high pitched noise.

Likewise, I usually just try to ignore her/him and move on. Discussing it means he wins. However;

Hmmmmmm.......... Who do i talk to about getting those 8min of my life back??? Shocking, innovative, and originality are not words I would use to describe this chick. This is all for show people!!!!! She was a blues/jazz singer before she did all this pop stuff, and why the change???? Money! She wanted money and the easiest way to do that is to make some boring pretenchus "arty" pop with some "shocking" imagery. You want shocking go to http://theync.com/
Did you just say blues/jazz? Hot diggity daffodil, I love that stuff! Is she wearing pants? Please, God, let her be wearing pants. Would you please give me some names of some of her earlier songs, because I'd really like to hear them.

My relationship with Gaga is frustrating. A absolutely love some of her songs and Bad Romance is one of my favourite videos ever.
However, her albums are just lacklustre and her musical style does not match her video. She's basically dance but her steampunk style would suggest more of a leaning to electronic and industrial but there's none of that and it's a shame.

This video is captivating, im unable to look away from it, but in the end the music is just meh.

She's a supremely talented woman who is redefining what a mainstream audience is, opening it up to a more open minded scope.

Alejandro was a commando on the side of the Facist Argentina during the Falklands War who was taken prisoner by the British. He was then released, settled in America and attempted to make contact with his long lost daughter.

This is the only way this thing can make any sense at all.

I like her music and I like her music videos, though the person her self is said to be a first class ***** and it shows in her interviews.
