So I Just finished watching Big Nothing, what I thought was a good depressing movie with David Schwimmer and Simon Pegg, and I was wondering if anyone else has seen any depressing movies recently, and if they were good or not.

Edit: im also going to say that Reservoir Dogs was a bit sad to

I recently saw 'Million Dollar Baby' and I have to say that it's one of the more depressing films I've ever seen. But it is a good film so I guess seeing it is worth it, even if you do feel a tiny bit sad afterwards.

I found the ending to Watchmen left me feeling deflated; is it just me or did the "good" guys lose?

I've recently been through a bit of a depressing WW2 film watching period - Grave of the Fireflies, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, The Pianist and most recently Schindler's List. Fantastic stuff... in short doses anyway, i'll think i'll stick with my mindless action/cheesy comedy for now.

Technically they didn't, the end justified the means, that's why they didn't take him down in the end, and why Rorshach asked for death. They saved the planet by doing nothing.

I recently watched Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, and that film was depressing as hell, but incredible. I recommend anyone who hasn't seen it to get cracking, same with Sunshine, that film was spectacular.

I saw The Killing Fields a few weeks ago that was pretty depressing but there is a happy ending and its all based on a true story.

I don't think there any good guys to begin with.
Just normal people trying to be super-heroes and ultimatly failing.

I haven't seen it, but My Sister's Keeper reduced three of my friends to tears.
Apparently half of the theater joined them in their sobbing.

johnny got his gun

crazy situation for the guy to be in, you really start to feel for him. which makes the ending so hard to take. Great movie
