Having your own kids is better than adopting them, so the second my ??????future?????? wife starts to contemplate adopting some orphan, she had better get ready for wild nights.

The psychological, financial, and even social problems that come along with children FAR outweigh the alleged "benefits". I'll pass, thanks.

Would I want to have a child anytime soon? No, definitely not. However I do see the allure of having one to teach and pass down your knowledge/experiences to. One thing though, if it's a male and he doesn't go in to engineering or become some kind of scientist/researcher I'm disowning him.
You know, trying to inspire your child into accepting a role upon the noble path of scientific endeavours is possibly the best way not to have a child interesting in science at all and instead become a crossdressing lead guitarist in a punk band.

That's fine, I just don't want to pay for/see the spawn of my loins take higher education for something like Visual Arts, Political Science, or Drama and end up working at McDonald's or some other dead end restaurant job.

24 yo over here with a 2 yo son

its not that bad

and you have this small little thing that resembles you walking around and calling you "Pappa!!" and generally being awesome, and of course, thinking you are the most awesome thing there ever existed

untill they reach the age of 15, at which point "GET A JOB, GET MARRIED, AND GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!...*but bring the grandkids!!*"

hehe

OT: Maybe some day, at least not until I am in my thirties. And if I am ready for that kind of responsibility.

Nope.

1. They are the most self loathing "Look at me" bastards on the planet
2. They are loud, annoying, and do stupid things.
3. I can't spank them (goddamn laws)
And worse, they could grow up to be child-haters.
High five my good man.

OT: Fuck yes. I want somebody to aspire to be like me, and hopefully I can raise my children to become good people, chivalric, gentlemanly, and courteous.
Also, I want to leave a mark on the world, and if I can't do it, then my descendents damn well better, or it's off to bed without any dinner...

It saddens me immensely that none of you fine people want children. They are not just an annoying noise to be ignored, and I am very glad that I never met anybody who hated me for no reason other than I was young when I was a child.

Yes, kids.

I imagine having kids is like the ultimate RPG/Simulation crossover, your kid can potentially have an infinite number of skills, classes and specialisations. Teach your kid to ride a bike, "Fitness level increase!".

Personally, I will never be having children. I don't like children, have no maternal instinct and have inherited some health issues that I would not dream of passing on to someone else to go through the shit that I have.

If other folks want to, whatever. Just don't raise them to be little bastards.
