Just to make the OP feel better about his shooting credentials, a .303 is a pretty powerful round, roughly equivalent to 7.62x51mm NATO (which has about 6 feet of flesh penetration on average), a lot more so than 5.56mm thats used in most standard assault rifles or 7.62x39mmR.
This is the kind of shit we are talking about >.>

Fine, as usual, I'll make the reference to one of my favourite games.
GUITAR HERO.
This is the reason haters bash the series so much. Some smug twat plays it, and thinks he can actually play a real guitar. Little does he realise that if he tried to play one, he wouldn't know how to play Smoke on the Water's riff...
... Not that I know how to play all of it, but I'm learning, honest.
I've never known someone like tis in real life, but it's bound to have happened in the past, possibly to a man called John S. Retard or something.
LMAO my brothers house mate was really good at Guitar Hero, one day my brother came home and his house mate was sitting there with a brand new Gibson SG and a huge Marshall amp trying to play One, I believe his words where "What's wrong with this guitar? It's not like the game?"
Fail, mainly because I can at least play a bit of One (I'm guessing you mean the Metallica song). Did anyone try explaining to him that a real guitar has more than five frets and more than one string.

Doesn't work other way round either. The group Rush tried playing one of their own songs on guitar hero and failed epically. The problem with guitar hero is that whilst they can make it look as much like a guitar as possible, they can't make it a guitar. It would just be far too complicated. As a result, they have a "Guitar", and after people play said "Guitar" they think that they can play a real guitar, when the two are completely different.

EDIT: I've now seen a video of One on Guitar Hero. It's nothing like the original song.

Same thing happens with cars/ racing games as well.
Actually driving irl is harder than fecking racing games >:D and also, Smoke on water riff is easy >.> And finally, It also works in opposite, I have a friend whos an Amazing, Amazing real guitar player, and he absolutely sucks at guitar hero.

"yeah, becuase theres totally terrorists in ireland >.> And you have an M9 since when...?"
Not so much on the M9, but I laughed at the notion of there being no terrorists in Ireland. Of course, I grew up with the idea of the IRA being able to hit anywhere in England, at any time, because they hate us all.

OT - As a laugh, a bunch of us were going on about what we'd use in a Zombie apocalypse (we used the "top 5 things" on Facebook to keep it all depressingly official) - most of us came up with stuff like leather jackets, backpacks, crossbows and ammo, stuff like that.

His list read something close to; "Desert Eagle, M16, Steyr Aug, AK-47, Dual Berettas". He's never answered little questions like "where the fuck are you supposed to find these things in England?", "Exactly where is the ammo for these things?" and "You are aware you have no idea how to shoot those, right?" It's OK though, he's played Call of Duty 4, and will be nowhere near us in a Zombie outbreak...

it's always interesting to see people think they could shoot assault rifles accurately with automatic fire, or shoot beyond 50m with any real accuracy while standing. I had some of those misconceptions before my military service. They beat those notions out of your head before you even touch blank ammo.

Spend a few months firing an AK-47 equivelant, watch a Rambo movie and you'll laugh your ass of due to all the hollywoodisms.

Really. 7.62 mm ammo, for the AK-47. A full clip weighs a kilo. That's a clip and the 30 rounds of ammo, not the weapon. That's as much as a 33oz water bottle. Add the weigh of the weapon and the kickback and your aim goes haywire after the first shot, if you're standing upright. Firing while running is an excersice in futility and a waste of ammo.

But you also learn that with a few months of training you can hit a target the size of a human torso 10 times out of 10 from 300 meters away while lying down, with nothing but the iron sights.

Thank you Ashbax for stating what Top Gear and people who got hooked on racing games proved years ago. Also, I'm pretty sure no one can't play smoke on the water on a real guitar. Or at least the riff, seeing as it's the first thing anyone learns on guitar.

I've been shooting several times, and to be honest, I went in knowing I knew nothing about weaponry, even though I play CoD4. I fired that AK-47 like a true terrorist lol. Shooting dead trees is fun. For those who have never shot an AK, you shold try. It makes you feel so alive. When your ears pop from the loud bang that just came out of the rifle you are holding, the rush you get is amazing.

Most of my friends at Guitar Hero and Rock Band, I'm terrible at them and they laugh at me for "having no rhythm". They usually sut up when I point out that the two people in the room who are worst at the game are also the only two people in the room who play real instruments.
I've noticed that too...

I play real guitar (and trumpet but that's irrelevant) and I can barely play the harder songs on Guitar Hero on medium. Course I'm also not like those people who play it EVERY DAY for FIVE HOURS, and in total I've only played the game about six times.

Yeah, i think everyone should try it.

But you know what is even more fun? Fireing a sniper rifle. Yeah, its hard, but the satisfaction of hitting a target 500m away is incredible

Yeah, people tend to be like that. I had a friend in middle school who when he played the original Age of Empires thought he knew everything there was to know about history.
That was exactly how I used to be when I was younger.

Not sure if a .306 and a .308 count as sniper rifles, but if they do, then I did that too. I gotta say though, its weird saying this, besides the Desert Eagle and AK-47, I actually enjoyed the .20 the best, mostly because I was really accurate with it.

You know what's even more fun?

Firing a rocket launcher. It's hard at first, but the satisfaction of blowing up entire buildings is incredible.

I've got one. People who think they can free-run after playing Mirror's Edge.

3 separate instances I've talked to people who've played the game and, without a warmup, proceeded to go charging around a park jumping benches and rolling (very badly) when they land. I've told all three of them that they'll break something if they keep it up, because I could see the pain on their faces when they stopped. One guy I told this to, then turned to leave, hadn't gone 10 steps before *CRACK*.

Yep, broke his leg. I drove him to the hospital, called his parents, called him an idiot, and left.
