Definitely the entirety of the Suicide Mission in Mass Effect 2. Shepard's speech, the intensity of trying to keep everyone safe, and then the fucking AWESOME music, I was on the verge of tears during the credits just because the game was so good. I punched the air like a ***** when my whole team survived.

Devil May Cry 3 - The final boss fight. I was getting my ass handed to me, but each time I retried, I kept getting better, until after the 20th or so time, I finally got the better of Vergil.

Mega Man & Bass - Again, the final boss fight. It's pretty far up there, with MM7's final boss fight. Many moments of "AAAARRRGGGGHHH! WHY MUST I SUCK SO MUCH!" followed by "HAHAHAHAHA VICTORY IS MINE, EAT IT *****!"

Starcraft 2 - Playing multiplayer 2v2 matches with a friend. Good times. Also, there was this one match I had (Zerg vs Zerg) where my opponent managed to sneak some Roaches into my base and wreak some havoc while I assaulted his base with a swarm of Brood Lords. After a tug of war of aggressive base expansion and placing a few Overseers in key areas, I managed to get the better of my opponent with a good ol' war of attirition.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl - I'm pretty much "that guy" among my friends when it comes to Brawl. I was playing Brawl with some friends, and there was also another "that guy." So we decided to have a 1v1 match on Battlefield (1 stock). I was Captain Falcon, and he was Sheik. After a fairly close battle in which my damage was past 100%, I managed to intercept him as he got knocked off the stage and tried to jump back on..... with a well-placed Falcon Knee.

hmmm, well basically anything that involves mind boggling big explosions for me. The ones that come to mind is when you blow up megaton in Fallout 3, or a mod for Crysis 1 which gave you a rare anti tank singularity rifle, which basically created a sky-filling explosion, that is blue. The ending of Mass Effect. When those end credits started rolling, I just had this overwhelming feeling that I had just witnessed something special.

Just plain awesome.

It is a shame that the credits for Mass Effect 2 just plain sucked in comparison. I like the song, but it didn't leave me with the same feeling as the first game. Here's hoping they'll make up for that in Mass Effect 3.

And as someone else already said, the conversation with Vigil was just one of the many amazing parts of that game.

World of Tanks on the map with the hill going up towards the bowl shaped area. Completely new to the game and this would've been about my 7th game. Anyway me and this other bloke spawn in the top left and make a run for the islands below hoping to pick off anyone attempting to flank our teammates and the enemies going up the ramp. Didn't quite work out, we manage to kill one but the enemy team has utterly destroyed our team by passing throw the town on the right. So me and the other guy both in light tanks pretty much end up saying, "Fuck it. Challenge Accepted.

We end up flanking the team on the ramp, teammate ends up going up the ramp to snipe enemy tanks and spot them for me. At this point it's 2 of us vs 7 of them. I go through the town destroying 3 enemy tanks just as they begin to cap our base. I make a rush for it luckily they're all around 50% - 30% health. That's about 2 hits for each tank. My teammate continues to attack from long range while i hide in the town also attacking from long range. They all spot me and open fire and end up taking 10+ hits. I should be dead but I've either blocked most of the shells or they've all bounced off of my tank. We end up winning just before they cap our base. I finish the game with about half health.

Fallout 3 - "I just blew a town off the bloody map!"

Mass Effect 2 - Suicide Mission, you know, shit gets real and all that (Some of my guys died...).

Left 4 Dead 2 - That final campaign on the bridge (Sorry, I'm not a big enough fan to know it's name, lol). That was the time I felt like I was actually IN a zombie movie.

There's probably a ton more honestly, they just don't come to mind. There's smaller ones like when you first meet Yes Man in Fallout: New Vegas (You come to the realization you only need to work for yourself) or when Sonic appears in the Subspace Emmisary mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Honestly that's filled with a ton of fanboy moments).

There are very few games that have given me that effect. The one's I can think of are League of Legends. The battles are just so intense sometimes. My first playthrough of Limbo, dying in so many different ways was awesome. Gears of War online some times was intense. Stealth games. That's all I can think of.

The entire suicide mission in Mass Effect 2. I was terrified my favorite characters could die. None did. Yay me.

Also a few scenes from Heavy Rain, most notably the Lizard Trial (in which you cut your finger off) and the final confrontation with the killer.

The final boss of Okami. The music made it even better.

And for some reason, whenever there's the chance of world PvP in MMORPGs my heart rate skyrockets. I have no idea why, but it gives a nice adrenaline boost.

*SPOILER* and shame on you if you continue reading and this is news to you. When Sephiroth kills ares in FFVII. I was like OMG a game just killed a main character, Then after I beat OMG a game just perma killed a character.
Fist of all, I'm biased because FF7 is IMO the greatest game ever gamed. You seriously ninja'd me though!

Another one was pretty much all of Super Mario 3. I mean it was the best looking best playing game i had ever seen at the time. Going from shit like 'Skate or Die 2' to that, man I though that game was the best game ever made. I distinctly remember throwing a very serious fit on my mom over that game one morning when i awoke to find my NES turned off. "You don't understand how much work i had put in! I was on world 6 Mom, gawd!"

and now because it's gonna be in my head for a while, I'll ruin you're night too:

Agreed on Mass Effect 2's suicide mission and the final battle of MGS4.

Splinter Cell Conviction: Sam has just found out his daughter is alive. The screen goes black and white. Unlimited executions.

Valkyria Chronicles: The mission where Selmaria shows up and starts DESTROYING you, and you have to take down the massive tank. It just worked so well for me, I had just a few survivors, desperately pitting their all against the advancing tank. Comrades lying dying all around me. The feeling when I completed it was amazing. It hooked me in to the point where it wasn't just a game I could restart, it was something truly important.

Resident Evil 5: Final part of the final boss. I think it was only so heart-pounding because you really had to hammer those buttons to move the boulders and stuff. It hurt.

I could really go on. Lots of final bosses have this factor. This particular feeling is one that gaming can do better than anything else.

I'm sure there's been plenty beyond count (because y'know games are fucking awesome), but one that comes to mind is fighting an armored tank inside a shopping mall as a Mexican gangster on an ATV as "Final Countdown" blares out of the radio. Yeah, Saints Row 2 is cool like that.

This mission. I hate it, but I love it. I still haven't beaten it, but before this mission I had never had anyone actually die. This mission killed one my misplaced units on my first play through. I remember thinking "Its not that late into the mission, I could jut retart..." but I couldn't. I eventually did because I failed the mission, but that game is just so gorgeous and well done I couldn't restart just for a soldier, but I could kill every damn enemy to justify his death!

Beating Child of Eden on Hard, (after about 20 tries in a row), it was 4am when i finally beat it, my head hurted, my eyes felt like they had razor blades inside, and my heart was pumping so hard that i felt it all the way to my toes, last time i felt like that is was when i beat Ninja Gaiden on the original NES, also Megaman 5, and my speed run on supermetroid almost killed me, great times, REALLY great times. (i must never ever tackle a game after midnight, thats a bad habit of mine)

When I single handedly killed all of the factions in Fallout New Vegas, just TOO COOL!
OR when I played Portal 2 for the first time.
Heh, similar, I love clearing out The Fort with Boone with me. So awesome.

Oh no, he knew she was alive, he talked to her on the phone in White Box. No, it was finding out his best friend lied to him about it.

First encounter with the flood in Halo, plot twist in bioshock, final battle of HL2:E2, the "lunacy" in Portal 2. I'm sure I could think of more, given time.
Eh, I might be the only one who found the final battle of Episode 1 better. Leave it to them to find a way to take a battle we've done several times before and make it interesting.

Anyway, for me, a certain moment in Beyond Good And Evil takes it: The Rooftop Chase. You know what I mean if you played it. D.B.U.T.T!

The first time I played Half Life 2 I was just so amazed at how fucking awesome that game is and I was just absorbed the entire way through.

The first time I experienced a "base race" in LoL (Leauge of Legends) that was one of the most intense gaming experiences I've ever had, shit's intense.
