For me I love Heavy Metal and I think its going to be around for a long time. For others, some say it's just the same thing over and over again and some say it's irritating and promotes violence. So whats your opinion?

(No I am not talking about Scream-O or Death metal but feel to talk about it)

I think I'll qoute the Ironheade Headbangers for my opinion.

"What is that sound? It's an angel singing! It's a devil screaming! It's the sound of the hammer of creation banging on the anvil of time! It's fucking awesome!"

Film or music?

I love both, well, I've slid more into Nu Metal, I prefer the fast tempo and somewhat electronic undertones (kinda blends nicley with the music I like listening to when I'm out clubbing).

You know what, I say this to so many people, if something can persuade you to change you opinions, appearance, attitude, something so small and inconsequential as music, you're either really young and still haven't found yourself or you've no personality yourself. Grrrrrrr, music pomotes nothing but the artist, the artist promotes nothing but themself (unless they have a cause (or many causes like Bono)), I take it all with a pinch of salt, it's backgound ambiance to me.

well, that's my 2 pence

Heavy Metal has the intelligence of the classical composers, the feel and suffering of the creators of blues, and the original, true spirit of rock and roll that The Beatles, Chuck Berry, and Elvis created.

It's the ONLY genre pushing new avenues of thought. Opeth, Dark Tranquility, Ayreon, Blind Guardian, Therion, Borknagar, Agalloch, Emperor, Bathory...

Ever metal band is worth a thousand, indie "rock" bands these days. It's mindblowing, they expand the very horizons of musical prowess, and in the future will be remembered for keeping the tradition of music alive.

I like a decent bit of heavy metal, in the same way I like pretty much every genre. There are a lot of artists I like listening to. I'm not going to support bands I don't like because they're part of the genre, and I'm not going to get pissy if you disagree with any of my tastes. Mostly because I'm not a prick.

Are Good or Bad my only choices? Can I choose Life instead? Not only heavy metal, but almost all subgenres of metal are life to me.

Said better than I could ever say it myself.

I personally used to like it, but then all the people that go on metal videos saying "MetalHeads!! Join me on spamming a pop singers video thus giving it thousands of more views," came along and I haven't listened to it for a long time.

to be fair 1% of death metal is pretty decent, two death metal styles that are pretty good. Deathkolck, yes I know they are fake but hey they are pretty decent and another style that is pretty good is where they dont sing or do an unintelligible scream at you and they just do one really bad ass gutair solo for 5 minutes that style, I have to say is pretty good. But the rest of the rest of the death metal and scream-o sub-genres, in my opinion, blows ass-balls.

I like heavy metal, lots of different kinds, but I also like lots of other different kinds of genres.

Heavy metal (or more specifically scream-o) was my favorite genre for a long time, and I wouldn't think that it's going to die out any time soon. However I don't think that it's really good for people to listen to exclusively one genre, that's a very narrow view.

and as someone above me said, it's a mixed bag. There are the good the bad and the ugly as far as metal is concerned.

It's alright, although I can't take it seriously when I see a picture of a band that is trying so hard to look tough. Also when I read the lyrics to some "modern" metal, all I can think is "cheer up".

I think like most genre's it has it's good bands and it's absolutely shite ones.

It wouldn't be my favourite genre(sub-genre?) in the world but I do like a few bands in that vein.

Well, I appreciate most forms of Metal, and Heavy Metal evokes the raw power of thunderous drums and ass-kicking guitars. So I'll go with good.

Original film? Awesome for its time

The last film in 2000? Not so much.

Oh music. Ehh some is good, but like any form of music for every 1 good act there are dozens that are pure shit.

Personally I cant stand repetitive drone bands Such as The faceless

Example
To each their own, but I find that just boring, uninspired and a lame attempt at saying or doing anything with the music.
