Wow, that idea is just awesome! I would pay money for a gamebased restaurant. ALso I wanna see pictures of the result.

Super Mario Mushroom Risotto.

And you have to make dishcards as well.

Wait, NJ? There's a restaurant that awesome here?

Well a Spicy Curry of Kirby fame would be interesting.

Blue Ice Cream scoop with candy or frosting Spikes. It's always the Blue Shell that finishes you off.

And you'd be crazy not to at least offer the Sandvich, at least as a gag item.

Then again, a One-Up Vegetable dish with sautéed mushrooms and green vegetables would be cool.

And if there was a way to coat onion rings in a more golden bread, you'd have yourself some Golden Rings.

Blooper-mari and Fried/Grilled Cheep Cheep. Though the Former's a stretch since Bloopers are Squid, not Octopus.

A [Character's Name]'s Favorite: Take characters and base a dish around their likes. I'm trying to think of one, but nothing comes to mind yet.

This is fun to brainstorm, if I think of anything more I'll let you know.

1. Make sure all of your branded stuff (Napkins, cups, etc) are all done with Pixel Art.

2. One popular thing restaurants do is get a sandwich section and call them "The Mario", which would be a meatball sub... or "The Super Mario" which is a footlong meatball sub. Y'know, stuff like that's cool.

3. A turkey leg, Mike Haggar's Favorite.

4. In San Antonio, TX there's a place called "Aztec on the River" - They sell fried jalapeno peppers stuffed with sauteed chicken, bell peppers, onion and cheddar cheese. Call em Maru Balls or something (Metroid treat.)

4a. OH! Wait... if you can submerge some cherries inside of green jello, you can have a Metroid dessert!

5. Have a mini-menu for Sushi... stuff's inexpensive to produce, but sells for a high markup. You can have it themed around Cooking Mama, because not only does she give me an erection... she gives me the munchies :)

6. Appetizer Sampler - Confirmed for Brawl. Just saying.

7. Possible problem: Pizza. Can you credit Ninja Turtles as video game characters? I mean, they're mainly TV/film for me... but they've done a TON of games over the years.

8. With food coloring, it would be possible to simulate the red-cap and green-cap mushrooms of Mario Brothers. When asked, say they're magic... but while under oath, claim they're ordinary mushrooms and not intended for children under 17.

I've an idea in my head for a while to start a cafe that catered food based from video-games. I sat down with my friends and told them about it, and we spent a whole lunch hour brainstorming:
Wouldn't you like to relax with a Phoenix Down after a hard-days work/gaming?
Or do you need to a Rejuvenation Potion to get your day started?
Feeling a bit of a downer at work? Grab our Stimpack softdrink (General Surgeon's Warning: do not ingest unless you estimate your life expectancy to be less than half an hour; long-term side-effects include, and are not limited to: insomnia, weight loss, mania/hypomania, seizures, paranoiac hallucinations, internal hemorrhaging, and cerebral deterioration.)!
Tell you what, come by for lunch and get our Medkit Happy Meal (disclaimer: will not increase health points)!
And for the adult gamers, get wasted with a Critical Hit (note: will not deal actual damage)!
Feeling left out, kiddies? We saved the best treat for you! Get a bite of our delicious Rare Candy, endorsed by Pedo Bear himself!

As a fellow chef, before i make and contributions i must ask.... Are you focusing on making a fancy dish with just a gamer namesake attached?, or are you thinking about making some kind of food related to a game.... Because if its that, well... You can see your options are limited to metal gear rations and cake.
If your working backwards, then you already have the imagination and experience to make a wonderful dish... Just make nice food and then find a name that suits it.

a companion cube cake, with a friend we actually tried tried this but considering the fact the both of could cook like snakes can hunt eagles, it turned out to be not to far from an abomination.

I'm guessing a professional chef can pull it off ;)

Good idea, but call it Phoenix Down, and make poultry of some kind; chicken if you're on a budget, otherwise duck or wild poultry to make it more interesting.

Umm pheasant is poultry...

I like the iguana on a stick idea, maybe you could import some crocodile from Australia and do something with it?

Of course it is, I know that. What I'm saying is, so is phoenix. Technically. Assuming it existed. And "Phoenix Down" is snappier and easier to get than "Pheasant Down". Besides, how decadent is it to pretend you're eating phoenix meat?

I haven't had it myself, but I've heard that crocodile meat is vile, like fish-flavored jelly. Assuming the majority of his guests aren't really into gourmet and exotic cooking, I'd say bits of blackened pork on a stick would do nicely. Then again, it might be his guests are the kind that would appreciate crocodile, what do I know.

Ok I just read what you wrote a little different to what you meant :) It sounded like you didn't think Pheasant was a bird (obviously) lol.

Fish flavoured jelly :| It is more like strange tasting chicken, a bit chewier. It does have a slight fishy taste, but cooked decently it is easy to over come.

If you see my first post the example I used is what i'm looking to do. Witty gamer themed meals and menu options tied in with excellent food. I'm not into gimmicks. I originally posted this because one of my mates is having a private party at the restaurant and wanted this theme.

I have to say that some of the ideas of seen here and on my other forum are just hilarious to me lol, but i have no intention of being ridiculous about making good food. I think I can submit an ode to video games and to great chefs at the same time. I have to say though its opened my mind to new possibilities to bridge my two greatest passions. If I hadn't gone to C.I.A i would have ended up at full-sail in Florida. lol

Actually i think the idea is just as you said, finding good food and good names to relate to it. I need it to be familiar enough to capture a large audience. I mean Mario is a world wide symbol but honestly most people won't have a clue what I was talking about if I spoke about Metal Gear Solid (shame on them). If I make a lasagna, i could plate it up anyway I wanted to, even if it looked like a companion cube, But reality is, if its not tasty no ones eating it, gamer or not.

Does anyone think the Phoenix down would work better as a cocktail?
