Perhaps the increase in rats and decrease in roaches is not related? Perhaps you're seeing fewer cockroaches because of seasonal changes.

I have the same problem!! Although with different species. I live with lots of Spiders and lately all these House Centipedes have moved in and are slowly taking over spider turf. There might be more spiders then centipedes, but some of the centipedes are really big, and my flat is a small *world*, too small for the both of them.

Your a fool, this is a great boon. The rats eat the roaches, you eat the rats, and the roaches that survive live off your filth. Your house is it's own self contained ecosystem.

Gather as many roaches as you can, and put them in a container of some sort. Get some oranges or grapefruit, cut them in halves, and give the roaches a half to eat everyday.
