I had to read "A Gathering Of Old Men" if you have never read it then you may not get what I am talking about. It is written in older black language. It was hard to understand and I couldent get into it. I read it and I wanted to shoot myself the whole time. But when we took the test I got 103% (EXTRA CREDIT!!!!). I was the only one that passed the test and I am now going to honors English.

I love the Great Gatsby. It's one of the only books I actually read in high school. Why do you have to read it? Because it's a classic piece of literature and you have to read SOMEthing.
Just remember, the green light across the bay symbolizes envy, or at least that's how I took it.

Come on now! High school reading isn't that bad. I thought I was going to hate every page of Jane Eyre, but it ended up being one of my favorite books I read that year.

On a different note, if any of your teachers even mentions The Awakening, be prepared. It's a short, unassuming book on the outside, but it's probably one of the most irritating books I've ever read.

I'm guessing its connected to any exams you might have. I'm having to read Romeo and Juliet in school. I dont like it but I know I have to read it for the exams.
