I see what you did there and I approve.

I agree you should be responsible for yourself but the people that seem to be saying fuck every one else I look after number one and know one else are just as bad as those that don't look after themselves.Helping other doesn't us worse as a species it makes us better.

I agree with above, apathy. And completely deserved. Hope it hurt because some poor car driver will now be shook up over the incident and probably being harshly questioned.

I once got hit by a push bike whilst stationary at a road junction in my car, one of the witnesses called the police because the cyclist was not getting back up. When the police arrived instead of help the guy they just blamed me repeatedly and said it was clearly dangerous driving, they would not accept that fact it was a cyclist's fault. It couldn't possibly be, everyone knows the car driver is ALWAYS in the wrong. They were going to arrest me and such but the cyclist told them it was his fault after the paramedics had fixed him up a bit. Thank God he did. It's completely stupid how the police and witnesses blamed the car driver over a cyclist even though I was completely stationary waiting to pull onto the main road and he just went into my car at speed.
I'll be sure to remind you what people fucking deserve when one of your family members are caught in a fucking accident. Have a little fucking respect, no one deserves this.
You see my family have something called common sense, they generally don't go wandering in traffic and other stupid things like that. The guy in this case did deserve it, it's not everyone else's job to look out for your safety, everyone should be looking out for their own.
Someone with any sense of responsibility for their own actions ought to consider how they affect others.
The only reason people don't get run over walking in front of my car without looking is because I wouldn't do well in prison... This concept of everyone having to look after each other is the reason health and safety laws are so stupid, we have the nanny state and defective genes are no longer eliminated.

EDIT: I do care how I effect others, it's just I'm not going to spend my entire time looking out for people who wont do so for themselves. I suppose it's similar to work, why should I be working to pay taxes for the people who just don't want to work?
Sup, deleting defective genes? You mean like eugenics? Nice. Steven hawking. Yep. If i had to choose one guy to live and one to die from you two hed win out. Hes better for society than you with his "defective genes" and the world would be better off in a 50/50 choice if you were "removed for being defective" rather than him if we had to choose. Sucks dont it? Deal with it. Natural selection is for animals striving for survival. As a species striving for excellence in many fields limiting us on one (physical) is just stupid beyond belief and is a narrow minded and very simplistic view of our species. Other than the insane misunderstanding of natural selection you come off rather selfish.

That guy could have grown up to be a doctor, what if he was killed? He might have turned his life around and done something amazing. To say he DESERVED it is cruel and selfish, a childish clumsy arm swing and a whine toward an issue of the "nanny state" without considering the whole story. Did he have such an incident coming? Yes, it was to be expected. Did he deserve to suffer pain for it? Not really, a harsh lesson from a cop perhaps but pain like being struck be a vehical? No. He has a family that loves him. And a future that might positively impact society. Dont be so quick to demand genetic screening and the removal of "idiots". I leave you with this. People like you are no better than the people you decry. At least they are not asking for the removal of those they falsely believe are their inferiors.

You mean the genes that make people misunderstand evolution that badly? Yes, if only we could eliminate those.

But really, that just speaks ill of you as a person. You're selfish and don't consider others.

And seriously? Worrying about how your own actions affect others makes a nanny state? Get real. No, I never called for the government worrying.
Strange how I never mentioned evolution isn't it? However go with your pretence of knowing oh so much more than me and explain just how defective genes are eliminated then? Oh wait I think it was called natural selection, the thing we have greatly stunted with political correctness and coddling each other. Also, for future reference, genetics doesn't dictate your understanding of a topic or its implications. Just so you know.

I consider other's I just think I shouldn't be doing their work for them, they're stupid enough to go playing in traffic? I ain't going to waste my time telling them it'd dumb.

Worrying about how every tiny little action will inconvenience or hurt someone else is exactly what causes a nanny state, all the stupidity the government brings into law in this regard is generally called for by these groups who take worrying over everyone else to extremes.
What a joke. You have no clue about natural selection. I just brought up evolution since people like you, the kind that whine about how we've stopped nature without a clue, usually do it about evolution. And btw, genetics has as much to do with understand of a topic or its implications as it does with kids going on skateboards down the street. Just so you know. And maybe get the point of what I said.

Yes, doing their work for them. Like avoiding hitting them with cars. No, it's not your job not to hit someone, it's their job not to get hit! /sarcasm

You're ridiculous. It's not an instance of worrying about every little action. If you think so you shouldn't have a license. Plus, you're missing the key component. Which is odd since I pointed out it explicitly in my other post: The difference between personally worrying and having the government do it for you.
Maybe you should reread... "This concept of everyone having to look after each other is the reason health and safety laws are so stupid, we have the nanny state and defective genes are no longer eliminated." Who said anything about the skateboarding kid there? That is a general statement. Yes genes don't play any part in that but in other issues in this area they do, and that is where we're reducing selection. And go on all you like about me not knowing evolution etc. Because it is you who doesn't understand, And I have provided as much evidence to that point as you have to how I somehow don't understand.

If they walk out in front of a car without looking, then yes it is doing their work for them. You are actually applying more concern for their well being than they are.

I do think so and I do have my driving licence and luckily for the world people like you arn't making the decisions. Plus, you're missing the key component of my post, which explains how this leads to the nanny state.

Say what you want in your reply since this is the last reply you'll be getting from myself. I have no need to respond to your constant personal attacks all the time missing the point of my words. Fallout 3 is calling, and is far more entertainment.

Not that I don't feel sorry for the family at all, but he shouldn't have been on the road.

It's not apathy, it's tragedy, though I think there should be a very, very strict law on the road that says YOU CAN'T RIDE ANYTHING ON BUSY ROADS THAT ISN'T A FUCKING VEHICLE.

Bikers, skateboarders, walkers, etc., anything that can't go more than fifteen miles an hour or so shouldn't be allowed on the road. Is that your way of exercising? Your hobby? Tough fucking shit, when you ride something powered by humans on a road full of two ton bricks powered by gasoline going tens of miles per hour faster than you, you are putting yourself and them at danger. You could easily get hit. They could try to dodge you and accidentally hit someone else. What if you are going around a corner and someone is following you, tries to pass you, and hits a large truck that causes a traffic-stopping wreck? Those sorts of things could happen anytime.

Like I said, it's sad that it happened, but a law needs to be put in place to protect those people around the idiots.
Well, to be fair, at least in my part of the U.S. Bicycles are technically considered vehicles and those can go up to about 25 miles per hour (or more, not sure on their max speeds).

OT: I wouldn't say he fully deserved it, but he is fairly stupid for Skate boarding in the middle of the road.

I reserve sympathy for those who deserve it.

Do his family and friends deserve it, with them having to go through this? Absolutely.

But him? No sir, I think I'll just leave this one to Darwin.

That sucks. I hope that he's not too injured.

Interesting thing, though; I recently just saw someone doing the same thing. I think it was at night. Not sure why someone would want to do that.

Yes. Why would our heart bleed for consequences that he brought upon himself. Should he survive there will still be damages to property, physical and emotional welfare will have to be compensated, and hopefully the time of others he has wasted.

This is going to make me sound terrible, and I'll probably get some hate for it, but-

A 15 year old kid from here in Austin (I didn't know him, but one of my friends who I'm no longer in touch with did) was killed after getting hit by a car. His parents said he was running out into the street, a large and busy street, without paying attention. I honestly couldn't feel bad about it. It's like reading the Darwin Awards.

Yes. Why shouldn't we be happy that nobody died and that even more traumatizing emotional damages could have happened?

Seriously. This horrendously childish "Dumbass got what he deserved" attitude needs to stop. Wasted time? Really? That's the least of their concerns.

You're telling me to get the fuck off because I'm a human being who is glad that no one was fatally injured? I know this is internet, but I thought the Escapist was a bit better than all that.

Maybe he was just trying to get across so he could get to school on time and didn't look carefully enough. But the way you described it, if traffic was moving at such a slow pace, he should have been able to see any incoming cars and cross safely. My guess is that somebody got angry and decided to speed into the parking lot like the big-hard retarded teenage driver they probably are.

Joke, man. It was a joke.

I always do that to someone who ask why The Escapist acts like jerks. Besides, the Escapist so call fourm memebers are not the "last bastion of intelligence on the Internet" because if they are? God help us all.

But hey, I read this to make me feel better. [http://amplicate.com/hate/the-escapist/438963-forums-filled-with-emo-brats-who-feign]
