(Wow it's been awhile since I'd last made a thread, oh and yeah this was searched.)

Ok I finally saw the Mist today, yeah I know I'm a bit late, but I loved it. However there was one particular death scene, which made me think to myself. "There is know way that I would ever accept that kind of end."

(Don't click the spoiler if you having seen the Mist)

It was the scene were the spiders burst out of the black man's face and body after they find him in the pharmacy

So the thread question is, I've you ever seen a death in a film, TV show, Anime or a book which made you think. "I do not want to die like that, I would glady accept any other way, as long as it's not like that."

Spoilers may be needed, depending on the death your talking about.

The Nazi's when they open the Ark of the Covenant in "Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark"

No face-melting or head exploding for me, thank you.

I always thought shooting yourself in the head was better than becoming a zombie.

Cliche I know, but I really don't want to be a zombie.
That would depend on what you have to shoot yourself in the head with, a revolver or shotgun is fine but how about trying to kill yourself by shooting yourself with a BB gun? (needless to say, you'd be there a while).

My answer would have to be the Xenomorph chestburster, for startets you have to be violently raped (orally), then there is the gestation period during which you would feel sick and suffer from the thing growing in you before it finally shreds it's way out of you violently (and then proceeds to grwo at an alarming rate so it can kill your friends).

Anything painful or disgusting.

Of course, most deaths include a bit of pain at the very least.

Any torture scene in a movie ever? Seriously when I die I hope it's painless. Also a lot of deaths in starship troopers tend to look horrifying for the person. Being torn apart by a giant bug isn't so high on my list.

I hate spiders, and generally all bugs, insects, and arachnids.

So that sounds like a way I wouldn't want it to go down. That or giant spiders

Well, I'd rather my death didn't last more than five minutes, so anything longer than that.

Any form of mental enslavement. It is one thing to die completely and another to have your identity die while your body lives on, preventing true death/release.

Anything with prolonged pain. I don't fear death nearly as much as I do helpless suffering.

So I'd rather have a straight bullet to the head than a torture.

Doesn't everyone?

Weirdly I had this conversation today..

Mine was the Angel Trap from Saw. Just.. no.
I would say anything from Saw is a pretty nasty way to go out.

Also in The Mummy, a scarab ate through one guy's skin (being underneath it) right up to his brain. Not cool.

That bit in the Bond (Pierce in the 90s) film about the mad News Conglomerate Tycoon where one of his minions falls into the printing press

"He'll be all over tommorrow's papers"

BADUM-TISH

*groans*

But seriously, crushed by a printing roller is a nasty way to go. That or the Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom rock-grinding thing

So being crushed, basically

God I remember that, I saw it on a plane when I was younger and sat with my feet up the entire journey so the beetles wouldn't sneak up on the backs of my feet and eat their way inside of me, it was a pretty traumatising experience.

The tanning booth death in Final Destination 3... Ow. Though it will never happen to me, I hate tanning booths, and it's not because of that death.
