Knox leaves the Ethan and Owl to their work and wanders over to Helen
"So...how long have you been out here, living on your own?"

Helen turned to the Kahn, grateful for the attention, even if it was unexpected, and something she was unused to.
"I have been here for 8 years. just me and the deathclaws. They're not very good company but their meat and claws keep me fed, and the caravans come by every once in a while, I trade them deathclaw pieces for ammo and explosives."

Knox looks impressed and gives a grin
"I saw what one of those things can do. It's amazing that you could kill so many@"

Helen started playing with her hair, brushing it off of her ears. "Oh it's not all that hard, if you get them alone. when you get three or more coming after you, then all you can do is run. But I've figured out a few tricks , there are chems that they don't like the smell of. And their eyesight isn't so hot, they hunt by movement. And for some reason they don't come up these cliffs. Hell, knowing all I do, I would have gotten through them years ago, except there are so damn many of them. And the pack leaders keep popping out new ones. They goddamn multiply for every one I kill, there are two more waiting for me."

Knox looks over to the Deathclaw lair ponderously and then back at Helen
"Why not jus' kill the leaders? It'd probably end the population problems. I'm sure an amazing woman like you could take 'em out easily, and with us it'd be easier!"

"The problem with the leaders is they nest right on top of the damn treasure... I mean... in the center of the valley. And all the other deathclaws wander around them, keeping guard. Besides, If I kill them, another would just become alpha. But you're sweet for saying so, you're a nice kid."

Knox gives a smirk and kicks at the dirt "Well, thanks...I'm sure we could think of some way to get those damn Deathclaws out of there..."

Ethan looked up at the sky as well. "Yeah Night Owl, seems like a good time to hit the sack. But first, what do you say the two of us hole up above the valley, see what we can see. With a name like Night Owl, you gotta have decent night vision. We can get a god look at how many deathclaws are down there, maybe we'll get lucky and spot the guy who stole the chip. Once we know what's down there and what the landscape looks like, we can bang out a plan with the others."
"You bet, my vision and hearing are unmatched in the Rangers and you won't have to worry about me falling asleep on duty." Night Owl joined Ethan to scale to the top of the valley, already pessimistic about what they would see at the top.

I knew having 10 perception would come in handy somewhere

Ethan looked out over the valley, he could see movement, but nothing specific. In all likelihood it was the deathclaws. But there was one thing that was odd. Off in the distance, maybe a half mile away, there was a blinking light. It faded in and out of luminescence, it and the moon light made the landscape appear nearly surreal, looking to be a place of nightmares, half formed shadows bathed in blood red light danced across the blasted plains below then faded back into darkness, only to return in new positions as the light brightened. No wonder the woman in the shack had gone mad. This twisted tableau coupled with the emotional trauma of near-total isolation would make anyone jabber.

"Alright Owl, you're the one with the sniper scope. Why don't you look into it and tell me what you see. Maybe with the light you can make everything out a bit better."

Night Owl reached the top of the valley, giving himself a clear view of the surrounding landscape. Nothing was hidden from Night Owl's eyes, his vision made him legendary in the NCR and it certainly did not fail him now.

In the distance, maybe a mile or so, one blinking red light flashed at regular intervals, the light was likely similar to the old ones he seen when reporting to McCarran. Perhaps the light attracted Deathclaws because around it Night Owl could see many Deathclaw nests, the massive eggs they contained were numerous, each nest containing at least 5.

Two hulking Deathclaws that were undoubtably the Alpha and the Pack Mother stood out against the rocky landscape. Exactly 21 smaller Deathclaws, all varying in size and age lumbered around, tearing at the ground, searching the burrows of any molerats.

"By my count we have 23 Deathclaws currently hatched and combat ready, there a several nests full of eggs, we'll doing everyone a favour in destroying them before they hatch. I'm also interested in that light source, unless someone has been maintaining it, it must have been running for a very long time, whatever powersource it's using could be worth a lot."

"I'm sure a few fatman shots down into there would fix that problem."

Dead Eye said as he climbed the ridge up to Night Owl and Ethan

"Seriously Dead Eye? we throw a fat man down there and we blow up the chip. at best we end up flinging it across the wastes."

Ethan turned back the the valley, hearing what Night Owl said he knew they'd have a ***** of a time on their hands. On the plus side.

"That light out there is the perfect landmark. If our guy really did come this way then that's where he would have headed. Unfortunately, it's right in the middle of those goddamn things."

"Agreed," Lucius responded. "She may not be the best in the mind, but if she has survived out here against Deathclaws for so long, she must be good at something. And that something appears to be killing Deathclaws."

"Did you think I was being serious? I've found maybe 2 mini nukes in my day and 3 Fatmans. Where the hell would we get one anyway they are so rare."

Alex listened to these discussions and waited for a offical plan. While waiting he did some tinkering with his weapon and sharped his knife on his arm.

After a bit of a moment where he attempted to pay attention to the plan, we has distracted by scuffling sounds under him. Knox gives Helen a wink and walks over to the edge of the cliffs and looked down, watching some baby deathclaws fight over some trivial thing (probably a Saspirilla bottle he thought) as Helen has a mini arguement with herself
Helen
"[sub]No, it wouldn't work...he's a lot younger than you. But he already said I was attractive...that could be just flirting, not mean anything. We'll never know unless we act...it's been a long time since someone came around...[/sub] So, if you're ready to rest, you can just c'mon in. There won't be many places for y'all to sleep in, but the Khan boy can share with me."
Knox
"Sounds good. The other guys'll probably be busy fer awhile with their plans..."

"I don't mind sleeping on the floor if it comes to that." said Alex after awhile of sharpening his knife.

"Last I've seen one of those lights was over at McCarran, who would want to land an plane out here though? I have my doubts that whoever stole the chip is still alive, we'll probably need two groups, one to draw the Deathclaws out of the area and the other to search the place quickly." That was Night Owl's quick suggestion after surveying the scene, he could think over it some more during the night.

Look at those nests. They've got young and eggs, they aren't going to go far. Alex in his power armor might be able to handle a few of them though. And I'd say you and dead eye should take position up here, use your rifles to pick them off while the rest of us make way for that light. Yeah, that seems like a decent plan. Let's split up into three teams, two people up in spots above the valley with rifles, two people running distraction and drawing away as many as they can, and the third team with everyone else fighting in the thick of them. I'd say dead eye leads the snipers, Marcus leads the fighters and Lucius picks somebody for the distraction team.
