Just in case anyone was wondering, I'm straight-shading-to-bi. It's a little tricky to explain.
I have a similar sort of thing, I think. I can appreciate when a member of the same sex looks good, and can understand why people enjoy their physique, and similar things along that line.
I've normally just put it down as "I'm confident with my sexuality", but lately...meh, I dunno. I'm too confused most of the time to even worry about another layer of confusion.

Firstly, I'm offended that you apply the label homophobic to anyone against homosexuality. Please invest in a dictionary.
What? Please explain?

"Homophobia is a range of negative attitudes and feelings towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, and in some cases transgender and intersex people. Definitions refer variably to antipathy, contempt, prejudice, aversion, and irrational fear. Homophobia is observable in critical and hostile behavior such as discrimination and violence on the basis of a perceived non-heterosexual orientation"

How can you be against Homosexuality but not be homophoibc?

Personally I have no problem with homosexuality in the slightest, even when they are making out 2 inches from my face, it really doesn't phase me at all. That said the uber camp 'LOOK AT ME I'M GAAAAAAY!' people really get on my nerves, and i know they really annoy alot of my gay mates as well.

homophobia is something i've never really understood thb, but i was raised with a very liberal background (despite my mums best efforts :p) and about 3/4 of my friends are gay or bi-sexual to some degree so i've pretty much grown up with it, even if i'm still not 100% sure about my own sexuality still :p

Ironically the only seriously homophobic friend i've ever had, who spent years going on about how much he hated gays and that it was wrong now has a boyfriend and wears a gay pride wristband everywhere. (and owes me a drink due to the fact that i bet him that this would end up being the case :) )

I personally don't see why anybody identifies with their sexuality. I mean that's the sorta thing that has caused all the problems in the first place?

I mean it seems like every homosexual thread on the escapist the ops and 50% of the community usually have this to say "I'm and I have nothing against homosexuals personally".

It's all well and good, but couldn't we perhaps recognize by now that sexuality needn't actually be a form of self-identity? o.o That it doesn't really say anything about you as a person. Yet everybody uses them as if they hold some sort of significance in our daily interactions.

Anyways ... as for being OT I have nothing against a person's sexuality ... it's none of my business and for 99.999999% of Humanity I don't care enough about you as people to really give a toss as to what your sexual preference is o.o

No real difference to Heterosexuality, is there? Love is love no matter who the couple is.

I have no problem with them whatsoever, I know a few girls who will think, 'She's a lesbian? oooh, I better stay away from her, she probably fancies me.'
The really homophobic and defensive men usually have a few things to hide too.

I was going to be a bridesmaid for a lesbian couple when they got married, but they broke up. It's probably me being a bad omen. D<
I spent like five minutes watching your avatar o_O

As for homosexuals, they're cool. Wouldn't go out with one, but they're cool.

I don't care if someone is homosexual or not. It doesn't affect me in any way, so why should I? I have a few bi friends, and one who's lesbian.

I'm alright with it.
I think I've only met one or two gay people in my time, one of them I wouldn't have even guessed. That was a "she" case though, not sure if that has any relevance.
The other was pretty darn camp, but he was generally a hoot, so he was cool.

I will admit that me and my friends throw around the "fag" insult a bit, but that's only between each other and is more of an inside joke, poking fun at the 7-year-olds that spout it completely seriously over teh interwebz.

No problem with it at all.
But to some degree I can understand why religions are against gay marriage, as marriage is seen as a sacred bond between a man and a woman. So civil unions would probably be a better thing than marriage.
The problem is that a lot of religions are just blindly against it, so rather than providing a decent explanation for being against it they often come across as homophobic and people hate them for it.

"I don't get anger towards gay people. No-one can be gay AT you."

Then again, I'm Dutch. It's really not an issue here. Is homosexuality still a big deal in other countries?

Homosexuality is fine.
Saying it's normal is not.
It's a deviation.
As a student of psychology and psychobiology, I feel I should point out that it's classed as social deviation. It's not "wrong", it's non-standard.

so it appears everyone's fine with it. I think at this point, the few people who are against it just aren't saying anything because they know they'd be shouted out of here.

I'm perfectly fine with it even when it is shoved in my face. Pun sort of intended.

I find the idea of two guys getting it on a bit gross but other than that I've got no issue with it.

Ok, so we've had baby, guns and having problems in the shower talks.

So, what's your take on Homosexuality and homosexuals, Escapists?

I am for homosexuality, I'm as straight as can be but I have no problem with those who are attracted to the same sex and would like to commit to eachother. I used to have a very close friend before our paths took different directions who was gay and it never bothered me, obviously.
Here in the UK, you can, if you're gay, have Civil Partnerships but can't actually get married, but it's still a legal partnerhip.

If your are against it ("homophobic") why?
If not, are you disgusted with some people's behaviour towards gay men and women?
I don't think you have to be homophobic to be against it, anyway homosexuals don't bother me at all, infact I wish I had more friends who were so. Truth be told I find some of them to be much more open sexually, which is great for a portion of my humor.

Also, I'd like to add a question if you can either add it to the thread or maybe someone else can get back to me, does being homosexual still carry a bad stigma? Doesn't seem to over here, but I'm curious as I obviously don't have to deal with that.

I dont mind homosexuals, what i do mind is when they throw it in your face likes it a big deal...I dont care move on....

Also hate the PC hetrosexuals, that claim I cant say gay for any other meaning other than they are in fact a homosexual.

We all do it, example-
Friend 1:"man im in love with her, I would do anything for her..."
Friend 2 "Dude....thats totally gay"

Even my gay friend would agree.
