I made friends with a bush and then we parted ways on bad terms after I'd puked on it.

Nothing wrong with getting steamed now and again, don't know why people on here seem so determined to showcase their sobriety.

Haven't got drunk so far, and the alcohol I have had I didn't like. I've got nothing against getting drunk, I just don't think I will any time soon.

I'm with this dude... and the reason is because of the OP. Why would I ever not want to have control of my actions like that?
Because it feels really great? And it's a reasonable trade-off for increased confidence, singing ability & all-around attractiveness?
Dude, I can be confident without getting drunk. All I need is a mask. And how the hell does getting drunk make you attractive?

EDIT: Oh right, I forgot to mention, I have not gotten drunk, I have never drunk any alcohols, and don't intend to.

Not drinking just be unique or holier than thou is just as bad as people drinking to be cool... And there's alcohols recomended for health benifits too! (when drunk in specific ammounts)
I agree. If you don't want to drink, don't explain your reason why unless someone asks. And even then you shouldn't word it in a condescending way.

well, you gotta admit, it doesn't sound very attractive given the responses in this thread.

It's just one of these things you gotta try for yourself.

just one advise, for all of you who want to "try" alcohol:

DON'T try it at some fratboy's party, not being used to is might end badly for you if you don't know your boundaries.
But as long as you are among some friends you trust, go on and try; it won't corrupt you or anything, as long as you don't overdo it, it might be fun after all =)

I went up to Quebec City with a few buddies from school. I was only 18 (the legal age is 21 in the US, if you don't know, but only 18 in Canada - that's pretty much the whole reason we went up). We went bar-hopping in the Old City with some other people from the hostel we stayed at. At one bar, there were a bunch of hippies sitting against one wall playing funky drums in their laps, and we played pool. I remember drinking a beer that had a shedu [http://www.redicecreations.com/radio/2009/02feb/wingedbull.jpg] on the label.

By the time we got to the last bar, I was pretty hammered. There was a guy playing guitar and singing covers of pop rock stuff, like "Sweet Home Alabama". I got up in front of everyone after one song, and cheered profusely. I yelled "THIS MAN IS AN ARTIST" and threw a bunch of change into his guitar case (I don't think he was even taking donations). Then I hit on this cute girl from Spain that was in the hostel bar-crawl. Then we staggered back to the hostel, and I passed out. Miraculously, I wasn't even hung-over the next morning.

I made a fool of myself, but I think everyone does their first time being drunk. And it was damn fun :)

First time I got really, really drunk?

It was a party at my mates Morten's house. I was 13.
I made out with a rather overweight chick, and ended up having her give me a blowjob before I got totally pissed... I mean, I remember puking later that night.

Also, It probably lasted to around 2AM.

I drank mostly, this is halfway guessing, beer, rum/coke and fisherman shots.

How the hell? was she just like changing or making out with someone?
Anyway the first time I got drunk was in grade 9 and damn can I hold my liquor, Ive never thrown up once even after a whole 26er of vodka to myself. It's fun as hell, and I have too many awesome drunken stories of me and tits... xD

What is with all these people proclaiming they never want to try alcohol, like it will forever tarnish their immortal souls or something? One drink never turned anyone into a raving alcoholic.

OT: I was 15 and we had a really nice night round my friend's house, playing videogames, dancing, all kinds of wholesome stuff.

Probably got drunk the first real time at about 15. Got drunk a few times, that summer. Never let a teenager stay with his sibling and their college friends for a summer :) First time I got utterly snockered was camping with some friends. I thought I was cognizant enough all night to remember the whole thing, right up until I went to bed. Came out of the tent the next morning, head pounding. First thing I do is put my hand in a pile of vomit.

"Gross! Who the heck puked all over the place last night?"

"Er, that was you."

"...oh. Why does my face hurt?"

That's when I reached up and felt a giant scab running down my cheek. Apparently, I tripped, fell and scraped my face on a rock. Had no idea.

Yup...good times?

It was last year at my friend's wedding, which I was a groomsman in.

I took my depression medication (this is important later) in the hotel room.

In the lobby, my friend and his friends gave me three glasses of wine that I drank.

We set up the ceremony area.

While the girls were getting pictures taken around town, the fellas and I were drinking jaeger bombs.

The fellas and I get our pictures taken. About this time, the medication mixes with the alcohol and makes me trashed.

We continue going around town, and I feel awful. We got pictures taken at an art museum, where I sat in a corner about to vomit for half of an hour.

We go back to the wedding area for the ceremony. I had to stand the whole time, being a groomsman and all, about to fall over.

Ceremony ends. My mother finds out, and I get taken home.

5. My parents had a few friends over and were playing poker,so I stole a bottle of what I assumed was Dr. Pepper. I chugged and a few minutes later I was naked shivering in the corner.

Getting drunk is okay.

Getting hammered isn't.

Now that you've taken your first step, you have to find out what your limits are and learn to pace yourself so you don't end up like a drunken wreck everytime you go out.

You could have a mask & be drunk, thus stacking your confidence. And when you're drunk everyone just seems more attractive, including yourself.
"seems" is not the same as "is." I find anyone that gets drunk on purpose as not only unattractive, but pathetic as well

Growing up with alcoholics doesn't really put alcohol in a good light.

Being told that you could have inherited that alcoholism, and then seeing how the other person's drinking can destroy a family doesn't really make you feel like you have reason to try it.

So no, it's possible that one drink may not tarnish my soul. It may lead to situations that I don't want to have to deal with from the side of the person who is drunk.

First time, had a steady buzz going and thought i was fucking unstoppable at Rock Band. Then proceeded to play Kings, got hammered, and blacked out. Woke up with no pants on and puke covered socks.

Pretty great night, Id say.

Getting hammered is never okay? How about celebrating being done with school, finishing a 2-week project at work, or something?

Some would celebrate by bringing a cute girl home, others by getting smashed with their mates. Some mix it up. Who are you to judge, and why? :)

First off: I don't believe he was talking to you. Regardless of the validity of your point, I don't think you should suddenly make a rather small argument into a three-ways one. Enough of my being a policing asshole though. Here is my question, and why I quoted you:
"Pathetic"? Why?
