Horrible A.I. partners that ruin your game... (fearful for Resi 5)

I found Dom in GoW2 much more useful than the 10 tonne bullet magnet he was in the first one. That said he seemed to still enjoy watching me crawl around for a while as he sat behind cover doing fuck all.
While playing the RE5 demo I found Sheva to be pretty smart for computer controlled AI. She didn't block my line of sight, helped me out when I was in trouble and tossed me ammo from time to time. The one thing I didn't like is that she had a tendency to heal me when I still had 90% of my health. Talk about wasteful.

funny thing is in gow 2 baird caused more game overs then dom. (dont ask me how i only saw him die once) lets just say insane is impossible when you get above the throne room and you have to seperate. but i agree partially. this can be a good or bad thing depending how smart the ai is. if its like baird (or dom depending who you hate more) then we're in trouble. if its like the A.I. in left 4 dead then..... there wont be anyone for us to kill.

my theory is that hopefully she will only show up when you have someone playing as her. if you dont then it'll just be you. but most likely you'll be stuck with an A.I. who (hopefully) wont be completly useless against bosses.

I usually don't enjoy escort missions, but I thought protecting Ashley in RE4 wasn't that hard (even on the "Professional" difficulty) and actually kind of fun. Just have her hide while you clear the area, charge ahead to the next hiding spot and then backtrack to get her. You may have to modify your playstyle a bit, but once you know what to do, it wasn't particularly difficult to keep her alive.

I am pissed that they changed the controls, all of the different options felt a little counter intuitive. Why couldn't they leave well enough alone? I am hoping in the full game you can customize them or something or I am in for a lot of hurt.
Controls are the same as RE4 aren't they? Left stick to move & aim, L1/R1 to ready knife & weapon, X to fire. It might not be the default setup but it's certainly in there somewhere... I can't quite remember where exactly because it's been a few weeks since I played the demo.
I did a bit of looking around on-line and I think there is a chance I was tripping. I thought that the run and reload had been switched around and so had the knife (I thought for the map button) but it seems like I am the only person who has this problem. Every one else says they are the same (or can be set the same) as RE4. Now I have to go back and play both. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I feel more relaxed about the release of RE5. Now time to fire up the PS2 and hone my skills.

The mandatory A.I. co-commanders in Red Alert 3 were terrible.

They'd just keep rushing straight to the heart of the enemy base, with no consideration for tactics, fitness or the way I like to play Red Alert.

I like to spend time making an impregnable base with superior defences, laughing as the enemy sends wave after wave of units to their death in an attempt to kill me.

Once I have my impregnable base up and running, then I amass a huge army and destroy the enemy base in one fell swoop (and usually my first and only offensive move of the match).

But with these new mandatory co-commanders, my games are reduced to a under developed game Sim City, as no enemies are getting near my base to test my awesome defences and as once I finally enter and reveal the enemy base on the map, only find that my co-commander has already surrounded the HQ or destroyed most of the threat, just leaving my massive army to destroy the construction yard.

I know that they do win the battle, they just don't do it the way I like to and the amount of losses my co-commander suffers is unacceptable, making it a pyrrhic victory on their part.

It's annoying that I'm forced to change the way I've played and enjoyed RTS games since Dune 2, because of some stupid mandatory A.I. co-commander.

The worst for me will always be Natalya from Goldeneye. She was hopeless and soooo incredibly infuriating. I still don't know how I managed to keep from kicking the tv trying to beat control on 00 agent with her running around getting shot

Hold on EVA was awesome in that section when i got a alert and the guards came she took out ALL of them with that Revolver Snake Gave her

but please ellaborate more
She can't hide which makes the section almost impossible on European Extreme. She eats all of your food. She moves slowly and sometimes doesn't move at all. And you're experience with her killing all the guards must have been lucky as whenever she set of the guards for me she refused to run and merely stood there being shot and missing everybody with her revolver.

Most of the times I failed that section was me using the M60 on Eva in a fit of rage, or slitting her throat open.
Hmmm

maybe it's dynamic A.I. ? lol

but wow i didn't know she could be that frustrating
then again i never got more then half hour playtime on the extreme difficulty (It was TO EXTREME)

although one thing she is good at is being HOT !!

oh and MGS4 tying up all the loosends

Oh and I also forgot Oblivion. Combat fell apart completely when you had friendlies nearby whose favorite combat method is to run right into your attacks.
.......Oblivion has the worst excuse for combat ever devised.
Thank God someone else feels this way... I love Oblivion but the combat is dog vomit.

Just read the first review of Resi 5 and apparently sheeva is game breakingly bad. I know you can't always believe the critics but I can't deny I'm now VERY sceptical and may be giving this one a (gasp) rental first...

On the positive side of things: Alyx and your friends in Far Cry 2 have impressed me :D
Agreed, though it's unfortunate that there's no way to organize a joint strike with a buddy in FC2...

GTA4: Lost and Damned. Your fellow bikers are constantly walking into your line of sight, hanging out in front of cars that are about to explode, and generally not pulling their weight. They'll also spend a full minute firing at enemy that I can kill in 2 seconds.

DUDE!! lets get one thing straight ... i'd take crappy AI over some real person online that intentionally decides to screw up the game

example: resident evil 5 demo .. some dude decided they would leave me locked behind the door and run around the chainsaw dude teasing me ... then intentionally letting the guy cut his head off -_-

at least the AI doesn't mean to .. know what i mean? .. there are only so many ways crappy AI can screw up ur game ... but there are noobs out there that dedicate hours to finding new ways to annoy their partner online

Generally, the DLC is pretty good. But GTA4's AI has never been the greatest and this really shows when the AI controlled characters are on your side. On the plus side, it's a bit of an ego boost if you ever thought that you were a less than competent driver in GTA games - no matter how bad you are, your AI buddies will be worse.

Yea I pretty much forced a friend into buying RE5 with me so I wouldn't ever have to play it solo. I'm sure the AI has improved for the real game but it was so bad in the demo that I just don't want to risk it.

I really liked the AI in Final fantasy 12, I know allot of people will hate me for saying this (FF fans because i used a heretic "12" instead of roman numerals, and everyone else just because I said I didn't hate FF12). I enjoyed them because you could program them yourself via Gambits.

I think more games should follow suit on this so you can pick the AI attributes and tendencies of NPC's you control instead of just a solid blind def retarded dog status quo

This is the main reason I am not buying Resident Evil 5. I do not like playing a game like Resident Evil 5 while I have to do a game long baby sitting mission. It is just not ok in any sense of the idea.
